Re: Atlas

It's good they are coming out but I just can't get exited about this at all lol, too many years too late.

I do hope they keep Brain's drum take however, the sound of the tom drums on the RTB leaks were immense.
The Tom mics were AKG C]414's on the top and SM57's underneath. All the bottom mics are were out of phase. The kick drum mic they normally used was a U47 FET Neumann I believe. 30'ish Mics on the drums alone lol.

Shackler is right ...too little too late. The hardcore base was literally begging for Atlas in 2016-17.

They wait until the end of 2025 to release it.

Regardless of how good or bad the updated version is, it will not move the needle in any direction.

I’ll be harsh .  This thing blows when compared to the leaks version.  This version just feels sped up.  And I prefer the older version with May which allowed it breath more and the song felt more organic.

This one definitely got “catchered”.  This one is definitely one that got way too overheated as a leftover.

Re: Atlas

Atlas weirdly reminds me of a Smashing Pumpkins song. Something about the guitar lick in the left channel at 0:31 that screams Billy Corgan to me.

Re: Atlas

I'm in the minority in that i really liked the versions of this on the locker leaks but wtf.

The mix and master are the worst of any single song they have ever released. The bass is too over powering in the mix. The cymbals are buried, it sounds fucking awful.

I like Nothing though.

Didn't finish the song. Never liked it before, don't like it now. A "b" b-side.

Yeah 1 listen in, and they have not elevated this song beyond the earlier sessions sadly. First thing that jumped out was Duff is very prominent and busy. Will give it a few more spins before I make any final calls.  So who's drumming do we know?

I think it's worse than that that, it's been downgraded.

The versions we heard from 00/01 sounded good to me but after letting this song sink in for a few years I think it did need something else like a bridge section, maybe a different outro section or just something.

This delivered none of that and made it worse, this version sounds so messy and cluttered, very similar to leak Catcher vs Album Catcher. I actually think it's worse than that because at least Catcher as a song is pretty complete and good. Atlas, still needed something extra, didn't get that and got downgraded across the board.

Also, hearing dueling guitar solos from Robin and Slash in the left and right channels at the end is bizarro world stuff.
