recall on HTGTH there was a poster Mike Giulani, he was from NYC & told me he was a union plumber.  I think he broke his wrist at work, and would post constantly, probably was on some serious meds, but I think he had like 30,000 posts in about 90 days (maybe it was 10,000, but it was definitely impressive).  Then he just disappeared. I'm guessing he went back to work, although I hope he didn't OD. Anyway I'd see his post count go up like 50 within an hour, it was nonstop. Pretty crazy. He & I dm'd a few times, so sorta knew him, then he just dropped off.

One of my all time favorite forum members. Yeah he posted constantly. He left that first year of ROV and never heard from him again.

Hope he's still alive.

I don't know if this was out in the open or not but Laura/DTJ was friends with him in real life. They lived in the same neighborhood.

The community really lost something when they bailed.

A few off the top of my head....

The Warchild drama would have to be included... specifically the early-mid 2000s stuff. Not just Warchild but how certain people kept fueling the drama making it so much worse than it really was.

The "big 3" forums brazenly selling out to GNR management in 2005-6 causing the community to fracture into smaller communities.

The Madison drama at mygnr

That story where some guy supposedly played Better at his high school and everyone started dancing down the hallways will never not be funny.

The 2006 leaks and how crazy the forums were at the time. It was the peak of the forums.... everything was downhill from there.

One of my favorite moments at ROV was when a small group of us were in the horror section discussing the upcoming Halloween movie, Laura/DTJ had received a 'work print' from one of her contacts and Rob Zombie was reading our discussion and talked to me on Myspace begging me not to leak it. He kept reading the thread off and on for awhile.

Anyone remember the name of that porn star that was here for awhile?

I can believe that. When I played the first Better leak to some friends of mine they became shell shocked. Could have been a huge hit if they released it then.

When was this?

Tabitha Stevens posted here a few times. Assuming that’s who you’re thinking of unless there’s been multiples. She used to be a regular guest on the Stern show back in the day and she had some connection to Steven Adler.

I didn't know DTJ & Mike Guiliani knew each other, I knew she was in Long Island, so makes sense.

That's wild about Rob Zombie.

Yeah, Better got a little momentum, then radio just gave up on it altogether. CD was completely mishandled but I think the label just viewed it as a sunk cost.

Don't know the details about the Mike Trunk thing. Incredible they played that song on the radio and nobody recorded it. Not even a snippet.

A clip of it was recorded-- about 20 very staticky seconds of IRS.

Mike Piazza was a guest on Eddie Trunk's radio show and brought with him a CD that he said he randomly got in the mail. It just had "GNR IRS" written on it and they played it once. The next day the show and station got a C&D from GNR management and they had to take it out of the replay of the show and turn the CD over to management.

I want to say this was about August of 2003. Everything in my life was falling apart around me at that time and I was hurtling toward rock bottom of what was basically an extended yearlong nervous breakdown, but that little clip gave me hope.
