Its all true. Just because you don't like the way it is run, doesn't mean its not a great board. In my personal opinion, its a great board. I can see why people who just want to worship slash and rag on axl constantly might not like it. Yes here today is the only site that has gotten recognition from GnR. read Merck's infamous "13 tuesdays statement". And yes there is plenty of people there. If you don't like it, don't go. very simple.
So what about the other arguments in my post? Don't they disturb you? Are they not true?

htgth is a great board, jarmo is a good webmaster, and whether people like it or not, they are the only online community to get real recognition from Axl/GnR. I post there everyday and there are plenty of people there.
You can repeat that mantra as much as you want, but it wont make it true.
Ok, Jarmo might be a good webmaster (as in, he used to pay for the hosting; site looks good, is plenty fast, not many technical problems), but he's the worst moderator ever.
A couple of reasons:
1. A moderator is supposed to act impartial (not be impartial, he can have an opinion of his own, act impartial); Jarmo is not
2. He does not live by his own forum rules
3. He censors information, not based on it's validity, but based on how much he likes it. He has a section called "GNR News", which might just as well be called "The bits of GNR news that do not rub me the wrong way".
4. His views on what and what not to censor change dramatically over time. He removed articles from his own site; articles that had been there for years.
5. He resorts to personal attacks and mis-use of his powers when 'losing' a discussion. For instance: when cornered, he just removes those parts of your post he can't argue with and ignores them. Subsequent complains about this get removed as well.
Fact is, he effectively runs his site in a true Orwellian fashion. I'm starting to suspect he's doing this as some kind of social experiment, seeing how far he can push his more-than-willing flock of followers into this double-think paradigm.
I always thought this sort of thing was not possible in the real world, people couldn't be such push-overs, right? Freedom of speech and expression is everything (isn't that the American way?), that's what I always hear. But then again, dictatorship is the best rule to live under when you're in that select group that reaps all the benefits.

I was expecting worse, based on these reactions. Sure it's vile, but nothing like rotten.com or that sort of shit.
*edit* Ok, for some odd reason, I found 2girls1cup much more disturbing...

Yeah, but I remember it being next to the Estranged lyrics, specifically for that song.

He also mentions writing guitar melodies for NR, Estranged, etc, and not getting any writing credit. He was a little concerned, but let it go because they were actually moving forward.
It's been a while since I took a look at the artwork for UYI, but isn't there a special "thank you" from Axl to Slash in there for the killer guitar melodies?

He should do something with Pink. I always dug her voice, and allegedly SCOM is her favorite song...

They were boozing and doing drugs waaay before they even made it big, they just did alot more after that and before the UYI tours which Axl did most of his no shows, I don't think they did any more boozing and drug use because of it, IMO.
I'm fairly certain it did. Slash has proven more than once that the trails and tribulations of touring got to him and drove him to substance abuse. I reckon Axl's attitude amplified the already existing problem. Don't forget it's not only his no-shows, but his overall volatility showed
It's all good and well to be a 'perfectionist', but starting hours late detracts so much from the overall quality of the show, once can hardly be accused of being a perfectionist when one does so.

I could see them all.
The one with John Goodman is Raising Arizona.
Umh, yeah, it says so in the filename if you hover above the link

i hate how the media has him painted as the good guy in all this. Just because Axl is silent and hasn't said much he's put in a position where he's made out to be a liar and an asshole by his critics in the media and even some of his own fans. Axl has his side too all this. All these guys have their sides and they are all going to be biased.
as to the rant, its one of the few times Axl has ever said anything publically about the old members. I enjoyed it, and I wish he would talk more on his side of things. maybe he doesn't want to tho. I hope slash's book encourages him to tell his side in more detail. Slash has said his share over the years and it looks like he's had plenty more to say in this book.
Listen JB, you can roll your eyes however much you like, but no-one gagged Axl, no-one told him he couldn't tell his part of the story; the fact of the matter is that he doesn't want to talk about it except when he's controlling the environment. He talked to Loder (almost 10 years ago now?) in which he vaguely described some things. He talked to Trunk, who didn't have the balls to touch anything sensitive (or was instructed to avoid talking about). He faxed MTV and he issues some press releases. But that's it. It's not like interviewers don't want to talk to him, it's the other way around. And you're right, that's a shame. But it's his choice, and hence the resulting image of him in the press is his own doing, his responsibility.
My guess is he's not talking because he can't keep his story straight. If you piece together the small pieces of information Axl has dropped for us to drool over, you will notice basically nothing adds up. The puzzle doesn't fit. Sure, Slash has been known to twist the truth (or flat-out lie) once in a while, but it doesn't necessarily discredit the shitload of stuff he told us about that does add up; and the fact to bullshit ratio is waaay higher in Axl's case than in Slash's.
You act like it's all so far fetched and unreal what's being said here, but you seem to forget most of it is documented as fact.

TheMole wrote:Coupling is probably the best modern sitcom around.

I like Coupling but I wouldn't give it that much praise. A British version of Friends with weaker characters imo.
Although I agree with you that it's a British version of Friends, I definitely prefer Coupling. The characters are indeed more of a caricaturisation, more two dimensional, but that's what makes it funnier, imho. Jeff's antics are hilarious .
