#71 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR on 'Body of Lies' film soundtrack / confirmed by BP at CD.com » 873 weeks ago

One of the unequivocal minds at mygnr has proposed that maybe the lack of promotion is due to this strategy:
-Release CD with little or even less promotion; that way the album cannot be a commercial, financial, artistic, etc., failure.

It would certainly make some sense, when you factor in the, '(It's better) if it's not released, then it can not have failed; and our money can not be wasted', line that many Universal/record company peeps were employing during this project's endurance.

You didn't tell me about this Body of Lies thing.  Yes, I agree that plans can change at a milisecond's notice in GN'R's 'world'.  But it had been long known that the band had been looking at putting some music on an upcoming movie - Terminator 3 in 2003; the slightly more successful Da Vinci Code in 2006; Zodiac was mentioned; Chapter 27 with Jared Leto (damn, this would have been fucking perfect to stick 'CITR' on!); before finally settling on this film - which I had admittedly not heard of until now.

Also there was What Dreams May Come I think it was in 1998.  I saw this film when it came out and thought a UYI-like track would have fit it perfectly.

Oh and of course Black Hawk Down in - was it 1999 too?

ARCADE! haven't talked to you in a long time man. but anyways Something seems a little fishy. Googled the band. no results. Far Downs is from the Hobbit which could explain the weird title. Also looked on myspace and no profile for this band either. EVERY small band has a profile. as do pretty much all big bands.

Reread my post:

Also take note of dates: that was on 2 years ago now; November 2006.

Another thing is where do these claims come in in other posts on the forum you linked to say there is a harley add with better in it coming out on the 20th of November?

What does the Harley ad have to do with anything?  You are aware of the Harley fiasco, right?

And this is a bit soon to start shipping the album for a November releae.

Yeah... seeing as it's taken nearly two years (other than to Guernsey/wherever it may be - and believe me only about seven or so people live there, LOL) to ship.:haha:

If you'd like to start a separate thread and discuss what you think you know about whom, please do so. There are many people interested in what might come (if anything) of these visits.

I'm not gonna post here anymore, but I feel the need to interject this:

the same as what came of the existence of gnfr.com .  IMHO.

BTW: separate thread, but thanks for the info on the release list.

There have been no promises to make good on. Nothing to "put money where mouth is" over.

Please stop making this thread about you and let everyone engage in a discussion about these clues.

I have withdrawn my point now - I'll take his word... for now.

I never posted about me.  I posted about him.

But who is this guy?  The not-so million dollar question....

Good thinking neems.

Arcade Roses, I apologize if I've stirred memories of another with whom you've addressed in the past.  I assure you that this is but my third foray into this community, or any community for that matter.  While I may have taken a peek from time to time, my interest in sharing has just recently begun.

I will give you the benefit of the doubt.

I know no more than you.  If anything I hope I am right.  My moot point was in the other thread... (the 'release schedule' one...).

Maybe us could buy a CD album in November, please god...

It's funny... I know a guy who thinks like that.:P

The reason Mysteron doesn't know is because he said his list only goes up to the end of October.  This is going to be a more November-December kind of release, and if anything more the latter.  As soon as he knows that - he should confirm it; as budgets, promo plans, etc., should have already been designated for this (music) industrially significant release.

The supposed 'leaker' at mygnr probably has nothing.  All mouth and no music....  I don't know who it is, but his story is researched; and, if it is a lowly (I say that - no offence) retail worker who has picked up a specially made advanced copy of the album, well, that's how things happen when the ball starts rolling....:P
