Why is there a difference between Duff and Dizzy's contributions? How many hits have Duff written without Axl? How many have Slash?

If we're talking about hits (and not personal opinion about the songs) post UYI's, then Duff objectively has a much better record than Dizzy given his work on Contraband and to a lesser extent Libertad and IFOCS (Beggars, co-written by Duff, charted pretty damn well).

I also think you're underestimating how much of a public spokesperson Duff was for the band back in the day. Whenever Slash wasn't available, Duff would be the guy everyone went to. You don't become a beer on the Simpsons without a public image.

If we look at song writing the common denominator appears to be Axl, with Slash playing. Everybody else is a mere contributor. If Slash had been on CD it would surely have generated some big hits, and then you are suddenly looking at the same role for Dizzy and Tobias as you do Duff in the old band.

Again, here I disagree with you, but this is more about personal taste than anything. Everyone will likely agree that neither Slash, Duff nor Axl have produced anything that comes close to what they had written together in the past (same goes for Izzy). The more of those core 4 people were included in a solo project, the higher the songwriting quality. So Axl somehow being the linchpin to GnR's songwriting prowess is bullcrap, IMHO. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: to me the best post-GNR songs are on Contraband and IFOCS. Slash's later solo albums all fall short of those two, as does Chinese.

CD (single) performed better on the Hot 100 than anything from VR, so not sure if Duff's post UYI career is that much better than Dizzy's. CD (album) is a decent effort to be part of.

I doubt a majority on these boards would agree VR wrote better tunes than GN'R these last 20 years. CD may not have been a huge hit commercially but I get the impression most fans think it was far closer to GN'R quality than anything Slash & Co ever did on their own. And whichever way you slize it, if we take GN'Rs biggest hits the only common denominator is Axl as a songwriter. I also include Slash on guitar since I believe that is important. Did Duff make a big difference either way there? I don't think so. I think NR and SCOM could be released with any other bass player and be as big hits as they were. Remove Axl and Slash and the equation changes.

His image marketability is also overrated. Bigger than Dizzy's for sure, but not significant like Axl and Slash. In the end he is a bit player like Dizzy, albeit of course more prominent than him. That doesn't make him integral.

Um...I think Duff is more important than you seem to realize...his bass on SCOM for example is awesome and he for sure has his own style...take Duff's bass off of any of the older GNR songs and replace it with "any other bassist" and it would NOT sound the same...well unless you have never paid any attention to the awesome bass playing of course...

I just saw the HOF performance for the first time, and I gotta say I was unpleasantly surprised with Steven's performance. He's very inconsistent throughout any given song, which is very unfortunate. Props to him for being as good as he still is, given his medical problems, but it's nowhere near the level needed for a professional touring band in my opinion. I really hope they settle for Matt or Frank, and let Steven maybe do one or two special guest appearance on a song or two at most. Anything more would be... unfortunate.

I also don't buy the Coachella rumor, they could decide on a drummer on the day of the first show and there would still not be an issue, no reason for them to rush things if they haven't made up their minds (our brokered a deal) yet.

I think Steven is great and atleast he isn't as horrible as Peter Criss was at the end of his last time with Kiss...

Of course...they have nothing else to talk about since we haven't (as usual) been getting official updates from the band...

They would have posted that either way.

Well of course... Nothing new with the media...always trying to make their own "news"

According to Billboard.com, the reunited GUNS N' ROSES — featuring singer Axl Rose alongside guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan — will be one of the first acts to play the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, set to open April 6. The band is also negotiating with promoters to play as many as 25 stadiums in North America this summer. For the tour, GN'R is said to be asking as much as $3 million per show, with tickets topping out in the $250 to $275 range.

Meanwhile, The Pulse Of Radio reports that the instrumental members of GUNS N' ROSES — including Slash, McKagan and more recent drummer Frank Ferrer — are rehearsing for the upcoming reunion shows without Rose. The frontman has yet to join the group in the rehearsal studio and it's not clear at the moment which other members are also present, if any.

Slash told The Pulse Of Radio a while back how his relationship with Axl disintegrated during the final years of the classic GUNS lineup. "His sort of m.o., as far as the band was concerned, over time got so exaggerated in the rock star sense or whatever and he became such a dictator and this and that and the other, that it was impossible for me to work with him, because I'm not the kind of person that takes orders, you know," he said.

Ahead of April's headlining slot at the Coachella Music And Arts Festival, GUNS N' ROSES is rumored to be planning a secret show in the Los Angeles area next month as a warm-up.

Although neither Slash nor Duff McKagan played on the 2008 GUNS album "Chinese Democracy", songs from that set are reportedly being rehearsed and will be performed.

Maybe if they play any CD songs Slash will do all of the solos...why not?

They probably won't play any songs from CD anyway...really wouldn't make sense really...

GUNS N' ROSES keyboardist Dizzy Reed joined the GN'R tribute band APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION on stage on January 8 at Revolution in Amityville, New York to perform the GUNS classic "Civil War". Video footage of his appearance can be seen below. (Note: The year of the performance is erroneously listed in the top clip as 2015, not 2016.)

With more than 25 years of service, Reed is the longest-standing member of the current GUNS lineup after singer Axl Rose.

GUNS N' ROSES issued a press release last week confirming that Slash and bassist Duff McKagan will rejoin Rose for the band's upcoming performances at this year's Coachella Music And Arts Festival. There is still no word on whether original guitarist Izzy Stradlin, drummer Steven Adler will appear, along with any other past or current members of the group. Reports have suggested that current drummer Frank Ferrer, guitarist Richard Fortus, multi-instrumentalist Chris Pitman and Reed and will round out the lineup.

The 2016 Coachella festival will take place on the weekends of April 15 through April 17 and April 22 through April 24 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. GUNS will play on April 16 and April 23.

There are rumors that the band will head out on a 25-date North American stadium tour this summer, but so far there is no official confirmation of that
