I think I ask this every year but how does this keep going? HTGTH is less active than here and their sports section is deader than Abe Lincoln.
I'd try it again but I know I would just forget about it more often than remembering.
It was pretty fun back in the 2000s although I preferred our Pick Em leagues... mainly because it was easier.
I haven't even watched a preseason game yet. Season needs to just hurry up and start.
I just checked HTGTH...
Last post in the sports section was February 3rd...and last post in the NFL thread is Faldor from September 2022.
No offense to Jarmo or anyone but that is a sad site to read. At their peak, that sports section was more active than most forums in general!
You could've created an entire forum just out of the guys posting in the Wrestling thread.
A ton of people posted there who never even looked at the GNR sections. That site was really something else pre-2006.
Most members in the league are from this board. It used to be a pretty even split but now it’s probably at least 80% Evo members.
I used to post in the sports topics daily on HTGTH back in the day. A lot of spirited discussions there, but yeah it’s basically a ghost town these days.

Earlier in this thread people were discussing Axl’s voice and the fact he is writing lyrics/arrangements that don’t give him a moment to breathe.
Now he’s had to address the issue online:
My apologies I was a little horse .. Fun night, Great Crowd!! Great Venue!! N’ great to be back!! Again my apologies and thank you!!🙏🏼💙🐴🔥🔥🔥👊💙👊🐴💙 pic.twitter.com/34cKRIxNvD
— Axl Rose (@axlrose) September 2, 2023He needs to share some of the work with Duff and/or Melissa. Let them handle some vocals (like every-other verse in the chorus of “Perhaps”). Nobody has the lung capacity for those bursts of words, and by letting others sing more it will feel more like a band (like we got in “Goin’ Down”).
I took that to mean he wasn’t feeling well, sore throat, etc. From the clips I’ve seen, he’s sounded pretty good this year. Much better than previous years.

I’m interested if you have room
We’ve got room. I sent an invite to your email. We only have 7 teams right now. We had 10 last year and have had at least 12 in the past. Would like at least 10 if possible. I can’t remember which teams are missing from last year. Neemo is one I think, not sure about the other two. If anyone can remember or find out, let me know and I’ll try to track them down. I can’t seem to access league history on my phone and I’m away until tomorrow.

Starting a new thread for the new season about to kickoff next Thursday. I setup the fantasy draft for Monday. I know it’s short notice but an invite should’ve been sent out to all who played last year a few weeks back. We only have 7 teams right now so we could certainly use some more. Let me know if anyone is interested or try the link below.

The video is up to over 920k views on YouTube & 63k likes. Seems like a very solid # of views for 2 days, not sure about the likes to views ratio. I have no data to say how good that is in comparison to others. #21 trending video, although I can’t figure out how to get a list to see what’s ahead or behind it. Single is at #12 on iTunes now as another country artist (Morgan Wallen) and whoever/whatever the hell Jelly Roll is, moved past them. #1 on the Rock chart. Video is still #5. Hasn’t registered on any Spotify charts yet from what I can tell.

The song is now up to #9 on the iTunes chart. Oliver Anthony currently has 4 of the Top 8 songs. Take out of 3 of those songs, and GN'R would be sitting at #6 right now. Pretty damn good.
Back to #10 this morning, behind 5 Oliver Anthony songs who nobody heard of before a few weeks ago, Jason Aldean, Luke Combs rendition of “Fast Car”, & Taylor Swift. Not a bad showing at all. Tough to compete with the country and pop crowd.

James wrote:It's just crazy to pump that much money into promoting one song. That would be unprecedented but if any band has that going for it...it's GNR.
That Times Square promo is an eye opener. That's like Taylor Swift-Beyonce shit.
Maybe the last two releases flopping hurt some egos? Maybe they finally decided to do a thing right? Ticket sales aren't what they once were.
Could be that they learned from past mistakes I guess. Been trying to figure out what makes this release different than the other 2. Absurd was unexpected & an odd choice for a 1st single. Maybe it was just to test the waters? I get why there wasn’t much promo behind that. But Hard School deserved more. Maybe they thought they didn’t need to put in the work? Found out it wasn’t that easy, so here we are. I guess that makes sense.
As for an album, I’d love one but I’m still not convinced. Once they release The General, we’ll have 1/3 of an album already. Even more if you include Eye on You, State of Grace, Atlas Shrugged, Oh My God? It’d be an odd approach at releasing an album a little at a time but maybe they feel this way they make money off the digital releases first & then a physical release at the end. Kind of like they did with the 1st two singles & these next two. I didn’t buy the last EP & don’t have a need for the upcoming LP, but I’ve bought each single individually & would certainly fork over the $15 for a new album if that time comes. As long as it comes in CD form. If it’s digital only, I’d just buy the songs I don’t already have. Still trying to figure out the new age of buying music and I’m sure they’re still learning how to release it.

Currently #11 on the iTunes song chart. Not bad for an old geezer band.
It’s been holding steady most of the day, at #10 now and if it weren’t for the out of nowhere emergence of Oliver Anthony, who has 4 songs in the top 10, they’d be pushing for the top 5. The music video for Perhaps is at #5. And it was #17 trending on YouTube earlier.

Sorry to rain on everyone’s parade here, but I just feel like the release of Perhaps is a summation of everything that is wrong with GN’R today. Axl in control of everything, hence the song only has one verse and one chorus repeated, then Slash phones it in for the solo, then they put out an actual accompanying video that looks pretty damn good, even though the song itself is pretty average, and still they haven’t actually acknowledged the release or even said anything officially. It’s like they just let the hardcore fans look into it all and find out about it ourselves. It’s either genius marketing from Team Brazil, or completely shithouse marketing. And I’m leaning towards shithouse…
The barely saying anything about the song is still annoying, I’m with you there and unfortunately don’t expect that to change. But regardless of what you think of the song, to get an honest to god full fledged music video was a shocking surprise. Have to give them props for that. I like the song. It’s not groundbreaking but it’s catchy. I just hope this is a sign that they’re finally taking things more seriously and ready to act like an actual modern day band. Well, as much as they can at least. Baby steps.

Up to #14 on the iTunes singles Chart. That seems pretty solid 8 hours after being released. The one thing they haven’t been good at though is capitalizing and keeping the momentum going. Not saying this can be a smash hit, but their other songs got some initial buzz and then just fizzled out because they did nothing about them aside from playing them live. I’m guessing the music video is all we’ll really get and lord knows that’s already way more than we’ve gotten in the past.
