Not to Hijack, but someone said they wanted the Hey Joe Slash, and this is almost 10 years old!!!!! Fuck, badass shit here.
Let's hijack it. I'll do it, for sure: the more Slash's Hey Joe, the better. This song is The Outstanding Song of the past 20 years for me. Miles better than the original, which is a miracle, cause Jimi's was a classic. Slash's playing here is one of the all-time highlights of his career and proves again what made him Slash and what made Guns N' Roses Guns N' Roses (in a big part). In the studion they couldn't repeat this magic, I can't stop listening this song. It's full of life, full of emotion and he makes the guitar speak like nobody else. It's not about zillions of layers to hide there is basically nothing - it's windy and melodical. No need to get professional headphones to dig deep to find something worthy or surprising - the miracle is there in the spotlight and it'll surprise again and again with its awesomeness.
It's also a reminder to Slash though: make a band with skilled blues musicians to back you, and wonderful music will be born. Slash, please.

I'm still not a fan of this song. I really like the music, it's a classic AFD-feel, but the vocals, especially the chorus is so 80s, and I mean the worse part of the 80s, that I can't stand it. It's like the better version of One Last Thrill. World on Fire would be only a filler on Apocalyptic Love. That was a very strong album. But I still have faith in this project, since the "making of" videos were promising.

Axl wanted full control. The weakness of the others is only an excuse. Axl is a control freak, always was and always will be. He managed to drive out 3 very different personalities (Slash, Duff, Izzy) from their own band. Just look at that old Axl interview, where he says that even if you bought a car with your friends, then only one guy can have the wheel. He wanted the wheel. (That's why he describes Slash and Izzy "fighting for power from the beginning", cause they both wanted influence.
But Axl was the most agressive guy, who frightened the others with his crazy antics that risked to to break their "car" and even meant danger to all of their lives. (Riots, anyone?) He got the wheel, but it was obvious from day 1, that a psychopath will not be able to guide it to the right direction, do the necessary work on the vehicle and make the others happy/content. He remained the crazy egomaniac who now handled his ex-mates as employees, so the others jumped out, he drove the car off the cliff, yet he's still crying "I won". Well, be happy with your Lambo in the demolition derby.

-D- wrote:Axl prob thought Slash would fail and become a has been where are they now....beg Axl back and fall in line. Didnt happen.
Actually it was the other way around. Slash left remember? He was the one thinking Axl would give in. That's why he came around 10 years later saying "Axl had won the war". He viewed that whole thing as a battle.
It exagerrates the story a bit. First of all, Axl quit first, then Slash didn't join his new band (with the same name, Guns N' Roses). Second, I highly doubt all the words of the Axl camp, and the "Slash confessed that Axl won the war" bullshit came from them. I don't think that Slash would have said anything regarding this, and I doubt even more that he used these words. He may see it this way, who knows. But all of us followed this saga in the past 2 decades, so it's sure that the Axl camp likes to twist everything that happened or hasn't even happened and they see it as a WAR AGAINST EVIL, for sure, and they see every action legal, acceptable, normal and deserved against the devil. Even their lies.
Here is the exact quote, I'm still unsure if Slash used the word "war", or it's only the Axl camp's translation.
"Slash came to inform Axl that: 'Duff was spineless,' 'Scott [Weiland] was a fraud,' that he 'hates Matt Sorum' and that in this ongoing war, contest or whatever anyone wants to call it that Slash has waged against Axl for the better part of 20 years, that Axl has proven himself 'the stronger.' Based on his conduct in showing up at Rose's home, Axl was hopeful that Slash would live up to his pronouncements that he wanted to end the war and move on with life. Unfortunately that did not prove to be the case."

Fuck Matt... So sick of reading about Duff, Izzy, Matt, etc being "cool" with Axl. How can you be "cool" with Axl when he is totally not open to reconcile with one of your best friends ever. Where the fuck is the back bone with these people? Seems kind of selfish to me a little bit. They can all be cordial to Axl and they should, but to do ANYTHING he wants with out any conditions, like, "hey, I will come play, but can we bury the hatchet with Slash please" or something like that is just ridiculous. Everyone can go back to GNR, but with No Slash, IT IS NOT EVER GOING TO BE GNR.
I think they know it. I don't see Matt's move as a "betrayal". He even says that Duff is a "mediator" - I think Matt sees this as a step closer to a reunion, I mean a real one, with Slash. He may hope that Axl has eased a little bit - well, I think he's wrong, Axl will never forgive Slash all those things that happened in his mind. But if they don't even try, then they'll never succeed. Matt has plenty of free time to test the waters, but as they're leaving even the 50 mark behind them, the last chance will go away very soon. (= "Life’s too short. It’s getting shorter too")
On the other hand Matt is without a band, he needs some spotlight.

Take away Myles and just listen to Slash. Man, dude almost 50 and he still plays with so much balls and passion. Very impressive. This is the best technically he has ever played.
Yeah, he's on fire. Slash's playing is very technical, yet very slashy, sleazy and AFDish at the same time. I haven't seen anyone mention it, but it's one of his most technical solos ever. I love this song musically. The only thing I miss is that other guitar player, who'd give an extra taste. Don't get me wrong, I think Slash's rhythm playing is outstanting. But if he found a guitarist he can gel so well, like with Myles, then the result would be even better.

The music is pretty good, AFD-style (and quality!) material. I think I don't like Myles on this track, lol. Never thought I'd post this, cause I loved him on the AL album and Cali & Starlight.

After the first listen, I'm not impressed. Sounded like Been There Lately 2... I'll give it another try though.

i couldn't give a shit one way or the other about what opinions you or anyone else has about axl, all i'm saying is it's boring as shit & stupid when you say the same thing over & over again.
you're the one who started the shit.
your initial comment was originally intended to flame & provocate this place & lomax responded, which was obv your intention.then you took it to another level, showing your stupidity & ignorance.
sorry if you think i was attacking you. i thought i was merely pointing out the obvious - that you're stupid, repetitive & boring. anyone who calls someone else a faggot is obviously p stupid & ignorant. you're boring & trolling w/the same line about axl being the weak link in a reunion lineup. so, what's your problem w/my post exactly??
what is it you want me to do? log in & lol @ faldor or axlins wetdreams about axl? meh, they're welcome to it. you however were just being a dickhead.personally i've next to zero interest in axl's performances/gnr/a reunion. when i see stupid people saying stupid things, yea, i feel the urge to enter the convo. that's all.
Well, my post was fuckin' ONTOPIC. His and yours were absolutely OFFTOPIC, yet you're talking like you'd be Mr. Ubermensch. Get off your high horse. I happen to find the "stupid" badge at least as insulting as the "fag" or your fresh new "dickhead". Especially when I am right. You're right, that I was right for the zillionth time considering this topic. Yeah, it's painfully obvious therefore often stated that Axl doesn't sing well anymore. I give him the benefit of doubt and say he hasn't lost it completely, he's just too lazy, unrehearsed and he has no motivation to do better (=average, acceptable). I'm really sorry that I posted my opinion. You might have forgotten again (or more likely: you've never ever understood it) that it's a forum. I didn't want to piss off others (I could have started flame wars many times in the past few weeks, but I decided not to comment sooo many times), I just gave my 2 cents regarding the reunion. It's maybe the third or forth time I stated my opinion on Axl's current performance level. In the past 15 years of my online GN'Rism I made a few hundred posts about this or that aspect of the reunion. Just like everybody else. It's utterly ridiculous, that you're attacking _only me_ for this and further proves that my opinion bothers you. Learn more about plurality.
