like i said...they should have all been credited equally, Izzy wrote alot of the songs rhythm parts, Slash laid down killer solos, Duff provided great bass riffs, Axl had amazing lyrics and Both Matt and Steven did their part to make the songs they worked on stand out with memorial drum lines

without the sum of all parts none of the songs would be what they are hmm so why the individual credits...i'll tell you why, cuz they didnt want to give adler anything and after Adler left they didnt want any new members to the partnership

they all played there part but  the one part of this formula that seems to get underestimated and run over regularly (deleted at HTGTH) is that Ax never recorded a note for these records that West Arkeen was not in the studio.....Now in terms of where we are in the process of the new records that should be somewhat clarifying as to exactly what ingredient is missing.

I had an interesting discussion with a fortune 500 Intellectual property attorney recently who made me aware of some of the issues that are being contested as far as artist pay I was unaware of. I doubt Ax is unaware of these issues. Common Cents you know..it adds up.

can you elaborate at all what these issues may be? i'm definately interested 22

In a nutshell...Security at most large companies and the monitoring of employees has revealed many downloads are traceable and detailed records exist in the companies records as to exactly what is being downloaded illegally by whom. While this would seem to be under the radar...it is of growing concern to companies who are afraid they have liability in this regard, its easy Discovery to request:) While individual artist would have a hard to pursing this BMI ASCAP and Labels in theory have an obligation to track....common cents....

Have a nice day Canada..

I think the issues have evolved as far as what an artist should demand be tracked and reported. Very few artist could force the hand on these negotiations, but some could force the label to recognize the issues and address them.

The other thing with Guns in Roses is it has such huge global/ international appeal. America with this band is only part of the formula, the marketing has to be global and it has to be right... Plus they always break with a movie, I doubt Axl will stray to far from the U curb formula that has always worked.

I remain confident one day we will get the record, I only worry that other elements might think he is more valuable dead than alive... Sad but true... with all the tape and video never to be released he has a virtual torrent of items outside of the record for release. He has waited this long now he has all this backlog to deal with. I wonder how many more records exist on the initial contract? Certainly not more than he has material for at this point. Does anyone know for certain?

He is really the one in the catbird seat given how limiting they are of behind the scenes material. That is where the real money and the real fans will go and where his money will come from (for a fee) IF he gets the record release and promotion terms right and IF the people he has had working for him are really preparing and doing the work necessary. Now in Hollywood those are big IFS.

You have to admit that posting nothing but "getting to know you...." in the middle of a discussion is a bit odd. Just because someone didn't get the point or joke you were trying to make doesn't mean someone's telling you what you can or cant say.

If you can say what your thinking in one line should you use two? Sounds very institutionalized to me to use two if the reference is fairly obvious...Sometime when you walk a mile in someones shoes you better understand the path... therefore "getting to know U" seemed sufficient a comment to me in this drama that who knows who will write the final lines too. He got the reference and chose to be condescending. Thats not really adding much to the discussion is it? He did not say what does the King and I have to do with it did he? Point taken add more lines....

You're obviously too smart for the rest of us, so you'll have to lower yourself to communicating in a caveman manner (sorry Geico guys) like the rest of us or accept that we're not always going to understand your ultimate wisdom on first take.

I think I can add a few lines for your benefit, thanks for your concern.

I think the song writing credits on UYI are obviously messed up.

It should go like this - if you're a guitarist and  come into rehersal and someone gives you a song and goes "here is your completed part - just play these notes" then you don't get a writing credit. If you're a singer  turn up and someone goes "here are the words you sing" then you don't get a writing credit. If anything else happens - if either part isn't compelte before you're there - then you helped write the damn song.

Axl SHOULD get a credit on any song he wrote ANY lyrics to. Slash SHOULD get a credit on any song where Izzy/Duff or Axl didn't write the ENTIRE song - solos and all.

Unfortunately that's clearly not what's happening here. Unless you think Axl can play the entire guitar parts and solos on songs like "Shotgun blues"....

Yes they are because of the initial publishing deal they signed they had quotas that were unattainable.
