#61 Re: The Sunset Strip » Rolling Stones - No Huge, Iconic albums?!? » 251 weeks ago
That was kindof the Stones tho. Plus they trace back to the prior era with the Beatles where it was put out tons of songs & an album each year. I think they learned as the went to put out 1 album with their better material as time went on, but couldn't stop the habit of throwing it all out there.
Exile On Main Street was somewhat of a comeback album for them, or solidified their greatness & longevity. Around 1970 Zeppelin took over, along with The Who among teens and fans, and the Stones were kindof yesterdays band or for older people. Then with UK's crazy high taxes they were all so in debt & bankrupt they had to move to France to record it to turn any kind of profit. Drugs kicked in and Mick enjoyed the Paris lifestyle, they were really splitting apart and had become different people. It really became spaghetti against a wall and they put it out there not knowing how it would do and assumed it may become their final album. Sure enough, US fans loved it, they refound a whole new teen audience, and were flying jets around the US on tour. Truly was a comeback story. There was talk, and I heard this from a friend once who was older, there were Stones kids, and Zeppelin kids, almost like two factions, maybe like Metallica/GnR or metal/grunge.
If you get a chance, Keith Richards book Life is a great read.

Tried watching it on HBOMax. Didn't really get it & tuned in & out while checking my phone etc. Short attention span maybe. Reminded me a Inception, very layered & if you not fully tuned it it's just visual candy, ok to watch and listen to, but I can't say it was great.
#63 Re: The Sunset Strip » Most Recent Movie You've Seen » 251 weeks ago
One last note: Why is it I have ZERO interest in anything new Hollywood puts out? I'd rather watch any and all old movies than anything new (foreign films, exempt here). The last "new" movie I tried to watch was that Carey Mulligan film and I turned that off after 15 mins.
Oh wait, I'm looking forward to a Nicholas Cage film coming out. But that's because it's directed by a Japanese director whose films I've seen a lot of.
I think it has to do with superhero films. There are no Brad Pitts or Fight Clubs because all the money goes into Marvel/DC. There was no Reality Bites or Swingers because of Avengers/Justice League. No Tarantino's because scripts like that don't get made anymore. Joker was a great standalone movie, didn't even need to be 'Joker', could've just been a Taxi Driver type movie about a crazy dude.
Also, 2020 alot of movies got held back. Personally I'm looking forward to Top Gun (cheesy, I know) The Matrix, Dune & Batman. Should be a great summer movie season!!

Got my second shot Friday afternoon, Moderna. Went good, in & out, no line whatsoever at Philly's Convention Center, their large wholesale shot place. Wasn't sick but was very tired Monday & Tuesday, not sure if it was a result of it.
I can agree with you Flagg, $1100 week was high, was that the blanket amount? Like even people working $10/hr in retail were getting that?
It's amusing how 2 years ago Andrew Yang was considered wacky for suggesting a base income to all, yet here we are. It's been a crazy year+ but I think it's ending and we've seen the light at the end of the tunnel. Could be a bad flu/sick season next winter, let's hope these variants don't spread outta control and we don't need boosters again anytime soon. Restaurants & bars will likely struggle a bit in the wintertime, not sure I'd go out to eat in Dec/Jan etc, but glad it's ending.

Sounds like royalty free music. Just canned studio stuff tv companies buy cd's full of various tracks they can use royalty free or something like $500/song.
I dont think its a Guns track at all.

I have an interesting theory tho, with 5 QB's going in the first round. Last year was a mess of college football, teams barely practicing, showing up on game day, teams filling their schedule to get 6 or 8 games whatever the minimum was. Defenses were probably so disorganized it was just WR's running all around catching open passes. Were college QBs' just able to pad their stats last season? Half these guys came outta nowhere (BYU, NDSU etc).
Eagles got Devonte Smith, I really liked him and wanted him the most. He could be along those lines, and is on the smaller side, still, they've flopped at WR the last 2 or 3 years so they needed to go all in & nail it shut.

I have to be honest. I hang around this place for the off topic parts of the forum. I've given up on them release anything significant at this point (doesn't have to be a new album).
I'm pretty much the same. I don't think much will leak either anymore either. Gosh, hard to believe VR was coming together in what, '03?
#68 Re: The Garden » Covid 19 » 254 weeks ago
I think it’s time you admit that many of your ailments may have come during your 16 year NFL career.
I hope when you do receive the vaccine that your issues stay minor if any. I got something called Co-vid arm which was this non-painful, non-itchy ugly rash that went down my whole arm to my wrist. Never really got an explanation for it. But it was gone in a week.
Funny, I think I sorta mixed things up with Communist China who was from Buffalo & a Bills fan, but it was also way back in 2004 when I began posting on HTGTH, so James Lofton was a more recent retiree. Anyway I just assumed it was a corny handle James chose at some point, maybe even tracing back into the 90s, kinda like Jerry Rice or Dan Marino. Anyway it was a few years later when I learned that was actually his real name. Always thought it was a peculiar username handle to a nondescript WR for some reason.

This band is over. Just move on fellas.
Did something happen? Or rather did nothing happen?
It's gonna be an interesting 2-3 years here. With little to no tour this year, probably no releases and possibly no news, even in 1 years time this forum may begin to grow cobwebs. It's possible at the end of 2022 this is a ghosttown like the DJ Ashba/pre-NITL years.

Desantis is extremely popular...Haley is not...IDs been talking about her for years. Not sure why the obsession.
Dude, fuck off. Seriously. If we're talking about potential Republican candidates for President she's always been mentioned. You need to deal with your Trump obsession before you start that shit.
She'll totally run. Primaries tend to be 8-12 people, she's one of them. Will she last? Dunno, tough to say. Her state, SC, is one of the earlier states, which helps, I think it goes Iowa, NH, SC. So if she had a strong Iowa showing, skips NH & takes SC its a solid chance. Too early to really say who the frontrunners are, but yes she's running for Prez.
