I still hope to hear the studio version someday. The song has a wildness and sense of humor not heard on any of the other Chinese Democracy tracks.

The production of "Oh My God" certainly makes the case for it being a demo. I've never heard a GNR song sounding so murky. It still could use a good remastering.

It's funny, the word "prostitute" was indecipherable in the first demo that leaked. That's why so many folks - myself included - thought of it as "Message for You."
Once the album came out, it was startling to realize that in this case, "prostitute" is being used as a verb!
I usually resequence the album to play "Madagascar" last. It has a finality to it, and the music comes to a resolution that "Prostitute"'s fade doesn't deliver. That said, it is a powerhouse on so many levels.

Unless any new fans think Kermit is exaggerating, he's not: You really could find the album at dollar stores! That did my head in ...

I think the "breakages" clause is what led to the appearance of "cut-outs" up through the late 1980s: Albums with a drill hole or notch cut into the corner. You'd see albums, tapes, and CDs like this in the bargain bins at record stores, usually selling for half of regular price, or less.
I found both the censored and uncensored LPs of Appetite like that, each for $3.99!

Considering how Axl tries to live in the moment, focusing on the band he's working with, what are the prospects for him to finally release the Chinese Democracy remix album?
I strongly wish for some formal recognition of the 10th anniversary of Chinese Democracy but considering how GNR did nothing to commemorate last year being the 30th anniversary of Appetite - which could have been the basis for a best-selling box set - they probably aren't even thinking about it.
To the best of my knowledge, the remixes that have not yet circulated in full are:
"Silkworms"
"This I Love"
"Shackler's Revenge"
"Oh My God"
"If the World"
If the band or its label are concerned that a release on CD would not sell enough to warrant the cost, maybe the tracks could be released on iTunes or elsewhere. They have to have noticed the online interest in these songs. Why sit on them any longer?
I adored "Going Down." It deserves proper production and widespread release. Because Axl only sings harmony on the track, it feels like the truest *band* performance of the post-Spaghetti Incident era.
Any current opinions on the album's fate?

I totally agree with what's been said: Every band should follow Metallica's example. They listen to the fans and deliver. Now that we're in what appears to be the final years of record stores and physical music releases, groups should do more to meet fan demand.
My own GNR/Metallica story: When I was putting myself through college I worked at the same place as a member of the band Metal Church. They all had jobs in their spare time, when the band wasn't touring. Well, James Hetfield got hurt in a pyro accident on the 1992 tour with Guns, so another guy from Metal Church ended up covering for him at many shows. When the tour hit Seattle, all the members of Metal Church got to go to the show and hang out backstage. I was sorely tempted to try to call in a favor and ask to get in myself, but didn't want to strain my working relationship, so I let it go.
A few years later I met Duff, twice, so it all worked out in the end!

by the time the album actually came out, i was way past giving a shit about any of it.
I was thrilled to actually hold the CD and vinyl in my hand. I woke up early on the release day, thinking there'd be a line of fans wanting to buy Chinese Democracy, and went to the nearest Best Buy store only to find out it wouldn't open until 11 a.m. No damned way I was waiting any longer than I had to, so I drove to another Best Buy that opened at 10. I got there right around 10:02 and thought, "Damn! All of the fans must already be inside!"
I parked, ran inside, and ... I was the only shopper.
I walked over to a big display, picked off the first CD and LP copies, and went to the cashier in a daze, both because Chinese Democracy actually existed and nobody seemed to care.
It was like looking at a U.F.O. that everyone else ignored.

Reading all of the discussions online about whether or not the demo is authentic, I learned that a there's a fan-made recording of the voices/movie clips heard in "Madagascar." Does anyone know where to find it?
