#51 Re: Guns N' Roses » anyone who has unheard leaks should share them for xmas » 913 weeks ago
I still dont get the logic behind the people that claim leaks will just push the album back.
I don't understand them either.
Also the leaks out there are a few years old and are nothing like the final versions according to Bach and others.
All the leaks (except for CITR) have been played live in 2006. The live 2006 versions were very similar to these "old" leaks...

You could be right but regardless, it's been printed that Axl was in the studio in January and as well as BBF and Frank to finished up their parts and by Feb. the album was being mixed.
Wasn't like in March Axl was recording so at least there is some credence to the letter.
The letter was bullshit. As Axl said "It takes approximately 8 weeks for an album to hit the shelves once it has been turned in to the record company".
So, if they were still recording and mixing in February, it would have been impossible to release the album on March 6th. Actually, the album should have been turned in to the record company before those cancelled shows if they really wanted to release it on March 6th....

No, I don't. Visiting GN'R forums is a habit for me, I couldn't care less about CD, although I enjoy reading the debates. But no, I don't wait for it and I don't care anymore if it ever comes out or how it will sound. The only thing Nu-GN'R gives me on a daily basis is laughing.
Same here.:)

Baz is not a liar, he's always been straight forward with his remarks. If he said "Axl really wanted the album out this year", then we have to believe him. There's no reason not to.
cybercurves
That's laughable.

A better (and readable) scan from cd.com:

right.. thats why Axl ended up with 42% of the writing credits on AFD (the biggest piece of the pie)
also, that book is full of inaccurate info.. you slash apologists can keep bringing up that book all you want, but it does not make your arguments any more credible.
Axl had 25 %, Slash, Izzy and Duff 20 %, Steven 15 %.

wasn't Axl heavily involved in writing it? The rest of the guys either bailed or were too big of junkies, so they were replaced. nothing we can do about that. I'll take AFD with Axl and some new guys in GnR over nothing... thats for damn sure.
Axl was as heavily involved in writing it as Slash, Duff, Izzy and Steven. No more, no less.
Read Slash's book, you'll see that it wasn't just about the rest of the guys either bailing or being too big of junkies. It was also about Axl becoming a control freak and killing the band's creativity.

the only way he blamed Merck was saying that Merck gave him the impression that the album coming out in 2006 was an attainable goal.
Oh really ?
When I agreed to do our recent North American tour, I did it with the understanding that my manager, Merck Mercuriadis, and I were in full agreement regarding our strategy and touring plans and, most important, that any and all things needed to release the album by Dec. 26 at the latest were in place. Unfortunately, it turned out that this was not the case, and I regret to say that the album will not be released by the end of the year. Although many things went extremely well and were very exciting, there were, in our opinion, unnecessary and avoidable complications on our tour having to do with the tour routing, scheduling and album and video plans that wreaked havoc on all involved. This was compounded by an overall sense of a lack of respect by management for the band and crew and each individual's particular expertise that has resulted, unfortunately, in the end of both Guns' and my managerial involvement with Merck Mercuriadis.
In regard to a release date for the album itself, certain minor - and I do mean minor -- additions, as well as contract negotiations, need to be completed. Barring any unforeseen complications, these things have now been adequately scheduled. The band and I, along with our record company, feel that this record deserves the proper setup and promotion, not the '13 Tuesdays left' and 'It may just appear in your record store' approach offered by management. We believe this strategy may have been used as a tool by management to sell this latest tour to the various promoters, and if this was the case, this was obviously unfair to them. The stress of dealing with this situation has been considerable for everyone, including the band, but more important, in our opinion, it was something utterly insane to do to our fans.

As Merck said in his letter, they need to tour to keep the band alive financially.

I was saying that a little while ago. I don't see Axl being thrilled with this.
As someone else said, the "indus" songs as OMG or Silkworms was Axl going through a personal phase at the time. I think he got away from that and is trying to do something more classic rock feel to it. Hence the collaboration with Bach.
Something along the lines of Zep/Queen. The indus/vanguard days are over.
