the reason the catcher guitar track sounds like that is cos its only the things ur playing if u play the song in rock band. its not actually like a proper guitar track of just one persons part, its a mixture of the different bits that harmonix want you to play.

im really liking the new demo of TWAT and the prostitute mogg tho, its so awesome to hear prostitute with just the piano and orchestra and vocals, i love it

how bout this as a course of action of preventing leaks:

Don't play your songs at strip clubs.
Don't mail your demos to Mike Piazza.
Don't hand out cds to your boys in A7X, CKY, Baz, whoever.
Don't share your songs with your buddies in Brazil.

DO release material on a timely basis.
DO communicate with your fanbase.
DO present your band as a real band.
DO take shit seriously.

If you can't handle these simple items, don't bitch and moan when people download your shit. And for fans that bitch and moan that other fans download his shit, get over it.

couldnt have put it better myself, i totally agree

I think the forthcoming Skwerl PSA and the fact that he's probably gonna roll over on someone helped...

The factor that explains it would be the FBI bustin' down his door, armed, very early in the morning like he was some undercover Taliban agent.

thats what i meant when i said about how i felt they treated him badly, its unbeleivable that they did that over a 9 song leak, its so pathetic

maybe this maybe that, the whole Chinese Democracy fiasco was all such a huge clusterfuck from day one in 1998 that no one knows the real answers to anything....probably not even Axl himself! Just one big nightmare after another which thankfully ended with the botched release of the album. Let's look forward not backward.....and DRBORKEN, my post wasn't necessarily aimed at you. Going forward, I'll take any new music, no matter when it was recorded, when I can get it-officially released, leaked, from any source at anytime!

its cool, and well said, i agree. any news is good news, and anything new would be nice to hear, regardless of how we get it

I still think everything goes directly back to the band and no one will ever convince me otherwise.

When you say this what do you mean though? Like an intentional plan from Axl as a PR technique? Or someone in the band careless with their rehersal disk and it got lifted? Or someone in the band snapped and let it go on purpose as punishment for the wait?

Maybe not Axl, but somebody high up. My personal belief is that someone thought all the stuff in 06 (leaking the songs, C&D to stations trying to play the songs, etc) was a good idea.

Then when the record didn't hit in 06 like it was supposed to, I think the Coghill leaks happened for different reasons. I think that was more of a sabotage effort by somebody in the organization.

Maybe far fetched? Maybe not?

i can see where youre coming from with that, it does make sense. getting hold of the medias attention after like 13 years of nothing wouldnt have been easy even if CD had been the greatest album ever written. it would take something big, like a preview of the songs, something to make people remember that GnR still exist.

im guessing though, if the leaks were deliberate, then they didnt work quite how they were intended. im guessing the idea was to leak the songs, get em on radio a few times so people heard them, then start the C&D orders, then that should leave people wanting to hear the songs again, which would then have been the perfect time to release the album. however, something went wrong, maybe they werent counting on the leaks spreading so far online, maybe someone didnt cooperate to get the cd out, i dont know. either way, nothing happened.

then again with the skwerl leaks, after a disappointing time, suddenly the "finished versions" of the songs were there, ready for people to listen to. again they spread, again there was action in the form of skwerls arrest. and then again, something must have gone wrong, cos no cd.

then maybe in 08, they learned from the last two failed attempts at leak->action->release, and so went to the media instead, got the best buy deal, basically forced everyone to cooperate, and finally got the cd out there.

im glad skwerl got off as lightly as he did, i think he was treated really badly, but i must admit i am surprised he got off that lightly, unless theres a factor we dont know about that explains it.

if we do see any more leaks, i would be surprised if its new stuff, or if they come from an inside source, its more likely gonna be some hoarder or someone whos had stuff for years and decided to trade for some reason, it wont be anything new. itll be new to us, but recorded years ago.

axlin08 makes a really good point there, a lot of the time, a persons actions are the best judge of their character. if you look at someones decisions, you can see how good or bad they might be for you. and also, its good to talk to people about how you feel. sometimes people around you can see things you miss.

its like that story about the guy whos trying to get rid of his old sofa. he puts it outside his house with a sign saying "free sofa" on it. noone takes it after a few days, so he gives up, takes the sign away, and leaves the sofa to be picked up with the rubbish. the next day, someone steals the sofa. it just shows, sometimes people miss the obvious thing to do, and will maybe do the wrong thing in your eyes, but one way or another, things will work out.

strat0, i kinda know how u feel, i got dumped by my girlfriend who id been with for a year and a half.

it was really hard for me to do anything, ive really struggled to cope with it, but im kinda coming to terms now.

honestly, the best thing to do is just keep busy and try not to think about her too much. the answer will come to you sooner or later of its own accord.

take these lyrics from in flames:

I've come to realise
Every little glimpse, you fade
I was told that I could fly
When least expected,
Cloud Connected!

whatever comes to you, even if its bad, there will always be something to pick you back up again, even if you really arent expecting it.

i hope that helps dude smile
