#52 Guns N' Roses » All Original GUNS Members Will Be At ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME » 697 weeks ago

GUNS N' ROSES keyboardist Dizzy Reed has told Billboard.com that the band's entire original lineup — including guitarist Slash and vocalist Axl Rose — will attend the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony on April 14 in Cleveland. "I know that all the original band is going to be there," Reed said. "I don't know exactly what's going to go down. It's one of those things I'm sure will all come together and be really cool. I'm just going to go in with a good attitude and a clear head and a grateful heart."
When asked if there is a possibility that the musicians — Rose, guitarists Slash, Izzy Stradlin and Gilby Clarke, bassist Duff McKagan and drummers Steven Adler and Matt Sorum — will put aside well-publicized differences at the ceremony and pick up their instruments together, Reed told Billboard.com, "Honestly, we haven't spoken about it. I don't know when or why or how to bring it up. It's not an every day sort of thing. So we haven't really talked about it — but I'm sure we'll have to at some point."
During a 2009 interview with longtime friend and former road manager Del James, first published on Spinner, Rose called former GUNS N' ROSES axeman Slash a "cancer."
"There's zero possibility of me having anything to do with Slash other than by ambush, and that wouldn't be pretty," Rose told James. "There is the distinct possibility that having his intentions in regard to me so deeply ingrained and his personal, though guarded, distaste for much of 'Appetite [For Destruction'] the band's diamond-certified debut album] other than his or Duff's playing, Slash either should not have been in GUNS to begin with or should have left after 'Lies'. In a nutshell, personally I consider him a cancer and better removed, avoided — and the less anyone heard of him or his supporters, the better."
A year later, Slash responded to Axl's comments, saying in an interview, "For one, I've never said anything derogatory about anyone's performance on 'Appetite'. So right from the start it's just off."
Furthermore the guitarist, who lost his mother to lung cancer, revealed that though he agreed with the sentiment behind some of Rose's comments, the singer's choice of wording was tough to take.
"The cancer thing, I'll go with him on that, that fits into his description of things. I wouldn't use the word 'cancer' but I haven't gone anywhere and I don't seem to be going anywhere so that's justified," Slash said. "Actually, I lost my mom to cancer so that was a little bit of hard rhetoric at that particular time, but it's typical Axl stuff... I know how he comes off and how he really is, so I give him credit where hopefully it's due."

After perusing photos of this Gina Carano character... I have decided to make seeing Haywire a top priority. Sold.
And Channing Tatum's just a meathead former male stripper who got lucky. His ability to continue courting roles really floors me.

Off that list? Priest. Nostradamus was one of the Priest's best albums, like it or lump it. It was also one of the best albums of 2008. I hope the band continues the trend. Would've said Manson, but after his TMS appearance, I'm scared he's gonna go all creepy fortysomething trying to reclaim his angry 20s satanic schtick. Manson's best album is and will always be Mechanical Animals. He's more appealing as an artist when he lets his genius out of the bottle, be it with his top of the class lyrics or ahead of their time visuals (if only Mechanical Animals were released to today's Lady Gaga acclimated culture). I'm less interested in grimy leathers, hoarsed screaming, and infantile jabs at Christianity circa 197666 (zing!).

Robin. Always.

Corey Taylor's a talentless, modern rock radio-chasing fuckhead clown. Sorry, but I'll take my Weiland with his tongue (presumably somewhat) in cheek holiday albums, Bowie/Eno-esque solo work, and increasingly neo psychedelia STP material to Taylor's jock happy, beer chugging, aggro metal, dyed black hair little teenage fanbase Slipknot and it's commercially watered down sibling, Stone Sour.
Scott Weiland is a legend and one of the last great FRONTMEN. Corey Taylor's... not my kind of person. I don't like him professionally and wouldn't like him personally if I were granted the "opportunity."
EDIT: Corey Taylor needs to lay off the cussing every three words business if he means to be taken seriously.
I only said "fuckhead" the once....

Fair enough. I respect your own stance on it, and appreciate that you concede his superior writing in STP as opposed to VR. (I wholeheartedly agree.) I'm sorry I took your post more as a general criticism of Weiland than of Weiland as frontman of VR, which are two decidedly different things. I think he echoes Bowie best in his solo output, and I do prefer later STP (band's best album is still Shangri-La Dee Da). Cheers!

And Scott's voice is hardly limited and quite elastic and versatile. He may not be your preferred choice of hard rock vocalist, but that's my least favorite side of his persona anyway. His melodies are untouchable and one of his greatest assets. And his lyrics? Admittedly not for everyone. But to me, David Bowie is God. And so you see, Scott Weiland can in turn do virtually no wrong. I have the awkward scenario of GN'R being my favorite band, but the rest of the music I listen to tends to be much more rooted in that wildly 70s glam/funk/soul/art rock thing. Scott stepped in and turned a bunch of half-filled club playing ex-Gunners into an arena-ready, slithering, sexy, cool beast. Corey Taylor is none of those things. Myles Kennedy is none of those things. And maybe none of those are things you want associated with your GN'R-lite. But I like(d) VR very much.

Epically awesome news. One of my favorite vocalists/frontmen of all time reuniting with (arguably) his most underrated act. I mean no disrespect to any of you Gunners, but to some of us, it was just as much about Scott's involvement. If not more. I never wanted a VR continuing without Scott. (Unless it was with me!) But seriously awesome news, even if it's a "one-off" for now.
