He helped facilitate the leaking of 19 discs of unreleased music, I think he got off lightly.

I'm sure he'll be able to attend future gigs if he just goes general admission and keeps a low profile.

Speculation

February 2016  Recording started in 2016, Izzy involved in the writing?

There is one other tantalising detail to this story. A hint that, if true, would change the complexion of the reunion. The prospect of a new album, or at the very least, some new material.

“I hope they’ve done it already [begun recording],” says Niven. “Duff and Izzy were in the studio before Christmas doing stuff. At a casual glance I think they’ve got at least a couple of tracks down. There has to be an element of creativity. Guns N’ Roses is about a spirit, about individuality. It can’t just be purely fiscal. It must be about legacy. After all, you don’t see many hearses with luggage racks.

Izzy shot this rumor down back in 2016:

At this point in time I`m not involved in the upcoming 2016 gigs . I`ve been writing new material but I have not been writing or recording anything with the GNR guys .

I can't remember the exact date, but Izzys referring to the upcoming GNR gigs meaning the Troubadour/Vegas/Coachella gigs right at the start of NITL smile If Nivs interview was in February, and the GNR gigs started early April, then Izzys update would have been sometime in March.

I think he was giving the fans an unofficial update. If he legitimizes the account then it legitimizes the information, which is not what he is wanting.

This is probably the correct answer I think smile Making such an unofficial announcement leaves them open to move the goal posts at a later date and deny ever officially announcing an album.

Back in the very early 2000s (before The Project and the VR sessions) Izzy recorded a solo album with Duff and Slash that has never seen the light of day.

Slash said that he wrote and recorded a total of five songs with Stradlin in November around the holidays, but the songs still require about a day's worth of "fixing," as well as background vocals. Meanwhile, McKagan said that he's laid down the bass tracks for an album's worth of songs in two different sessions in November and December at a studio in Los Angeles.

"Me and Slash are just the session guys, man," McKagan said, laughing. "I just went in and did bass tracks for the first three songs in an hour and kept at it."

Thanks for posting that Dizzy interview too Vale. I remember reading that ages ago but didn't know it was rumored to be a fake smile

What Izzy tapes?? That's the first time I'm hearing of this. I'm assuming they haven't leaked yet? What's on 'em? the lost solo record with Slash & Duff, JuJuHounds2?

There was just one tape and it was 8 demos from Ju Ju Hounds 2. It was sold online a few months back but hasnt leaked. - source

I'm in no hurry for disc 2. We've had more music in the last month than we've had since 1993. When we get disc 2 that's probably the last GNR music we're gonna get for another decade in my opinion, lets be realistic.

2 months ago we would have been delighted just to get a full copy of Checkmate. We've quickly become accustomed to logging in daily and finding another full disc, and this leak will eventually run dry putting us back where we started.

I've only listened to RM1, 3 and 4 a handful of times because I honestly think this is all we're getting for a long time (apart from RM2 maybe). I don't want to burn myself out hearing these songs like I did with the original leaks. I used to play Better/IRS/Chi Dem etc on repeat so I was pissed when the official album dropped and I was already tired of hearing all the songs sad Thats my fault for downloading the leaks so I'm trying to show some restraint this time by only listening occassionally 9

The chairman could do us all a favour and hold off on releasing that last disc. It might help us get through another dry spell in 2020 when the band still havent officially released anything

If GNR were behind the "Zutaut locker" story I dont understand why an izzy tape would be in the same locker. Thats the one thing which makes me think the locker story is real..... that and the fact that 15+ discs have actually been released. When have Guns ever allowed music to be heard by fans, let alone 15 discs worth, thats just not how theyve operated in my 20 years of being a fan 14

Ignoring the above though, I think GNR could have leaked these discs in order to pressure the label into releasing something. Guns only owe 1 album on their recording contract right? Once the next album is officially released GNR could part ways with their label and release music as they please, if they want to.

Which begs the Question....maybe ol’ Ax is behind the leaks...is “The Chairman”?

Why would he leak it though? As leverage against the label?

Stinson the most underrated member of the project. Hiss bass tone on some of these tracks is simply out of this world.

I'd agree with that. Always thought it was a shame how he was buried on the official release, and he was underappreciated as a songwriter too I think. Glad to hear him shine on these leaks smile
