#51 Re: Guns N' Roses » Guns N Roses manager discusses Chinese Democracy » 870 weeks ago

Someone who claimed he had 'insights' into the band (I don't know how true he was - his name was Brett Meisner or something) claimed that the massive 2006 delay was caused to artwork.

Merck's letter though (and I believe him (this was IMHV one thing he was actually right on)) said this was not the case.

Either way... as always, no idea who to believe.  Just throwing that out there.

Just funny you should mention this now - however debatable 'Meisner''s info may have been.

My word, this reply is so venomous towards Buckethead... it just defies logic (literally... like the comments about Saul being a 'nobody' who is 'speculating', basically.  The woman cannot be reasoned with.

As BH himself says... the music will do the talking.

I don't care if this is Bucket's webmaster or the guy who cleaned up the dog shit that he left in GNR's studio. It's not a credible source.  Do not post random rumors and speculation on our forum.

...

I would have hoped that the whole Shackler's debate should have woken up people to the fact that Ron plays a huge role on the album. He played all the guitar solos on that song - even though all the Bucket worshippers insisted for weeks that they "knew" Bucket was playing on the track. They were wrong.

Do not post this random rumor again.

Man, this almost makes Jarmo (*cringe*) look normal.

The BH haters are gonna look silly in a month... maybe a few days.:D

The thread at mygnr just went to the big forum in the sky.

Damn.  Got up to four pages as well.

Edit: Discussing this with Madison now in PMs.  Hold your horses, folks.

(You gotta see what I wrote her... (I actually got warned - yes, warned - for posting that thread),

'The thread even pertained to CD as it mentioned - rightfully - that the best guitarist GN'R ever had will be, to quote from memory, 'all over' the CD (as we all - yourself included - already know). I believe these points 'merit your consideration alone'.:)'

LOL.)

Bri - if this comes true, we may be about to witness the forming of the greatest band in the world.

(Finck seemingly out +no third guitarist +tour planned and BH/Brain (who spoke about Guns recently, BTW) said they might return when the album comes out, and now this from the great Saul.  Do I need a calculator?)

The way he posts at htgth I can tell that I would hate that Fernando dude way more than Mysteron.  Fernando's need to talk down to people and insult them really irks me.

They all do (Fernando, Jarmo (even writing his name makes me angry), Beta, etc.).  I had to stop reading that thread half way through the things they posted and the way they conducted themselves.  I'm serious.  No wonder I never read that place - and people don't even now we can 'talk' about everything (well, still 50% of what is going on, anyway).  I hope Fernando crawls back to that site and stays!

I'm sorry to keep harking on back to what the Spanish/Portuguese gave me at the start of the year, but it's just amazing how much of this stuff is coming true.  I don't have it in front of me, but even they - the hoarders/semi-'insiders' (because IMHV they gave me some correct info) - had inclination towards Mysteron!  From what I gather the Portuguese were particularly upset at him (they actually asked me to relay a message to him to STFU IIRC) - and now this revelation!  Jeesus...!

It really is amazing how much of this stuff is coming true.  It makes me wonder about the 'The Blues' 'This I Love' are like the new 'Don't Cry'-'Don't Cry (alternate)' info (which may have come Fernando as well - as 'B.' [I can't tell you his name] had his info), as I said at mygnr.

One thing is for sure... this band will never be free of soap opera.  It's 'Internet candy' if anything else.

Most of the basis of your argument dealt around the fact that he was A List, i was simply offering a counter example for you.

Yeah: and you made some good points too.:)

But Marco Beltrami is still Marco Beltrami.  A-list producers are still A-list producers.  +There's also the fact (or rumour?) that Sarah Brightman came in to the studio to record too - and Brain is highly praised on the song; as well as highly praises the song.

Saikin wrote:

Timbaland's work with OneRepublic was abosolutely terrible.  That song they played on the radio was a huge piece of shit.

To each his own.:)

Saikin wrote:

I agree Beletrami is much more experienced and better than Timbaland, but that's not because he's a-list, but because of his experience.

Absolutely right; although don't forget one other point you and I both could make - Timberland is really 'doing the rounds' at the moment and is of course 'hot property' in the music industry.

CD would only bring Beltrami to the attention of a few more people (hey, it probably already has the GN'R community) and boost his CV.  But nonetheless, as I said earlier, he is who he is, and I am very keen to see - and am impressed by the glimpses and even very mentions of it we have heard so far - what he has brought to new GN'R's table.

That and of course the early Moby (if any of it is still around) 'sessions' - another top, brilliant producer.

The talent that has gone through Axl's revolving door - both at the mics and at the button board - is truly mind-boggling.  Take that into account when judging his work - and why a band featuring the calibre of Buckethead, Tommy Stinson, Robin Finck, Paul Huge, Brain and others, which was, in my view, the best band in the world at the time (no f**king shit), performed 'Silkworms' in front of a humbling Rio.  Remember that.

This is a band that styled itself as living and dying by the sword in many ways - and it will in 2008 as in 1988.  Perhaps even more so now given the current state of the music industry (well, world, really) and the self-inflicted wounds of the last 10 years (the most serious being the departure of BH and possibly now the departure of Finck).

A List does not equal 'amazing'.

Timbaland is considered an "A list" producer, and his latest production, Chris Cornell's Scream, is a huge pile of shit.

Your argument doesn't hold water.

Well, to be fair, while his work with OneRepublic and a couple of others I can't remember right now (v. v. late here) was good, Beltrami is higher rated and more experienced than Timberland.  Plus they are two different kinds of producers.  Beltrami specialises in movies, for instance, and not so much music - as evident in (the 'Ask yourself...' section of) 'Prostitute', and why this is more an 'out the ordinary' (although sessions with GN'R would be out the ordinary for most people, even music veterans, LOL!) step for him, IIRC.  Plus, Marco Beltrami has/had come in to do a few select tracks, not an entire album by a (this is of Cornell>) good but, to be honest, less epic (in name), well-known (certainly outside NA), revered, and mythical (though he is of course in his own name but again not really outside NA to my knowledge) artist.

Blah. I'm not falling into that trap. I don't like where it leads.:haha: Not meant as a stab at you, just the feeling in general.

I  felt Axl would put his best material on the album. Its going to be the most scrutinized album in history(and he knows this), and it wasn't gonna get overloaded with B list material.

Therefore, any song on this album must have been superior in some capacity to any track in the vault that could have replaced them. While I would love to hear what's left in the vault, its not gonna be a constant craving because it wouldn't still be in the vault if it was worthy of Chinese Democracy.

While I agree with you, why would the big A-list producer Marco Beltrami (and other fairly biggish names too) be brought in for that (supposedly substandard music for a sequel or something album)?  While I agree with you on the CD-best tracks idea (i.e. the sudden inclusion of 'CITR'... but 'Rhiad' too, good as it is?), writing off the strong-sounding Beltrami material may be another trap to watch out for, in my view....  (Some speculate it has been done to 'prevent leaks' and various other things... may be true(?).)

I know you weren't particularly impressed by 'Prostitute'; but bloody hell, I, like many others, was - however much the song didn't blow me away on first listen.  Look how 'The General' has been praised over the years: Brain (one of the best drummers in the world - and again he proves it on 'Prostitute', another Beltrami 'track', or so MB tells us...); Dizzy's favourite; Baz's favourite (I know, I know... but still).  SARAH BRIGHTMAN - another great artist - COMING IN TO SING ON THE TRACK!!!  This song is gonna be big.  'Seven' has been praised very highly too....

Mark my words.

You know at the end of the film Waterworld, Kevin Costner's character - when he sees and tastes 'dry land' for the first ever time?

Some of us will go back to the water and wait the second (I doubt there is enough tracks for three), more Beltrami-based album.  I really do think it could be miles better....

As I said on mygnr, up to seven Beltrami 'tracks' could be unheard; as long as the two songs on CD + 'This I Love' are not them.  Then there is the 'reworked', 'older' stuff as well.

I have always been interested in the themes of this album as it could be quite interesting - and am thinking of making a thread pulling together all we know about it; descriptions of the Beltrami songs, etc.; in the New Year.

- did I miss a thing?!? what the skus leak ? what's ta name?

-- they say its "The General"

- oh shit! does it sound legit?

--What are you talking about ?

-Very Digital.. math like..

Yeah, I've updated my post.  Having read that three times - and just now on mygnr - it makes me wonder how people of such... grand intellect, would have such 'sensitive' material anyway.:haha:

Sorry about that; I'm quite tired.  But at least we won't have to wait too long to hear the real 'General', if there are three CDs handed in to Sanctuary.

... unless Bach is right on 2012.:nervous:
