#41 Re: Guns N' Roses » All lyrics from CD and "new songs" removed from Apple Music » 94 weeks ago
Curious, I wonder if it is to supply corrections or something like that.
Possibly, IIRC the Apple Music ones were just the standard "text" of the lyrics rather than the whizzy scrolling synced karaoke versions.

The Better video is class. Axl looks so happy and there is no cooler man alive than Jesus era Robin Finck.
I would have loved a lineup of Axl, Slash, Duff, Finck, Fortus, Brain and Melissa.
I don't think you were ever going to get a three-guitar line-up with Slash involved.

I love this song. Yes, including the "mack daddy" stuff. It does need some verse lyrics, though – maybe keep the "mack daddy" bit for a bridge or something.

She heard how shite the mix was and ran off stage.
Nah i'm joking she has pneumonia.
Oof, hope it's not COVID-related. GN'R has to be careful with that, what with various band members' health issues in the past.
Also, that dude must've had to learn the songs in double-quick time. Or did they have him on retainer or something?

Me too.
I love the "rant" part of monsters in scream voice, but there's not a lot of song to go with it - just kinda a little bit of a rap chorus. I mean I like it but it gets old quick waiting for that part each listen. I think the high parts of The General are more haunting. It's funny too as on first listen the general didn't really work for me, but now I really like it.
I think it needed a "breakdown" or "locomotive" style outro though. Like slash seems to be warming up to something right when it ends.
I love the scream/solo bit, that's dead good. Though I do wish that Axl had written a second verse with different lyrics instead of doing his "just repeat the first verse and chorus twice, whack in a solo, job's a good 'un" thing. He's done that on a couple of recent songs.

Had it not been for George Harrison shit canning the idea due to tensions with McCartney, this song would've been finished and released during the Anthology series in the late 90s.
IIRC it wasn't just creative tension, Harrison recognised that the audio quality of the source material just wasn't up to snuff.

I wonder if Macca's going to get Peter Jackson to use the same whizzy AI tech he used to extract Lennon's vocal for "Now and Then" and apply it to "Free As a Bird" and "Real Love." The shitty tape quality of Lennon's vocals on those always rankled, though I suppose you could argue that it gave him an appropriately ghostly quality.
