It is amazing how the presence of Slash and Duff takes the weight of the band's name/legacy off Axl's shoulders.
Above any other reason, it is why he needed them all this time.

VR, Snakepit and solo materials are... Well, VR, Snakepit and solo materials
At this point, I don't see the distinction. Other than a label slapped on the groupings, I take the material of this triumvirate as a whole and hope it is all not only fair game but embraced as wide catalog.
Axl's vox on VR/Snakepit songs are 'new G&R' songs to me.

It is surreal to hear Slash play the Chinese material. I really hope Axl plays fair and does a few VR/Snakepit/Slash solo songs to return the favor. Slash's solo record had a couple of good tracks; I still dig the Wolfmother and Adam Levine selections. 'Lovin' the Alien' and 'You Got No Right' would be amazing with Axl's voice.

With only short clips to judge, I noticed the Slash sluggishness right off. Hopefully nothing to worry about since this is based off short clips of a crowded stage.
Axl's voice may get stronger but he won't thin out as the tour progresses: it hasn't happened in recent history as he indulges in drink, steak, and fries. I don't mind his weight gain, perfectly normal for a man his age; however, I hate the metal sludge type comments that inevitably follow. He could always get on adderall and lose a quick 15 in a month.
From what I hear, Axl's voice sounds like it did during the Vegas residency when quantity of performances was chosen over quality. I came to peace with the reunion being a cash grab a while ago and this doesn't change that. I don't expect anything more than one or two new songs and possibly a few Axl covers of VR/Slash songs. I'd love to hear that actually.
Give me one live disk of excellent Axl voiced songs from AFD to CD to IFSW to Libertad and I will be ebullient.

Hang in there dude. I'm dealing with a very unexpected divorce and child custody on both my kids, from different chicks... Shit gets real tough, but the promise of all this has damn sure kept me going too. We've all waited forever for this to happen, and we're all in it together. You've got the rest of us in your corner, brother.

I see my son five days a month and he lives two hours away now.
