#4871 Re: Guns N' Roses » 1/7/16 SOLDIER FIELD, CHICAGO, IL UNITED STATES » 480 weeks ago

Now that I'm home, I can share a few of my impressions from the show.

Estranged was REALLY impressive live...did not expect that!
They were all business! Little to no talking...one song after the next...bam bam bam! I was definitely in need of a break about at the point they play TIL...as in a sit down and take a breather.

Coma was really cool also...the peaks and valleys of the song play super well live.

BIG fireworks show during Paradise City really added some over the top pop to an already awesome closer.

So glad to see them back together. I was hoping they would pull out some "alternatve songs" for the Chicago show due to the city's significance to the band...but alas that didn't happen.

Hell yea, I know what you're talking about....

I got into Gn'R for the first time in 1997-98. I was a freshman in high school and I must admit that high school was probably the most difficult phase of my life. I felt so many different emotions for the first time. I had questions that had no answers. I had anger that I didn't know I had. Girls didn't want to touch me with a ten foot pole, a lot of popular guys mercilessly bullied me.

THEN, I popped in my Mom's old cassette tape of Appetite. All the sudden Jungle made sense to me in a way it never made sense before. The anger and frustration of tracks 2 through 5 hit stride with me. The soft and sensitive songs like think about you and SCOM were something I could also get into.

At that time I had heard almost all of appetite, but I had never really digested it. UYI1 and 2 was a set of material that was fresh to me. You Could Be Mine sort of became an anthem for me and got me through to my senior year.

Being a Gn'R fan in 1997, 98, 99 was not a cool thing, especially in northern Wisconsin where popular culture is such that smoking a ton of weed, listening to a jam band play one song for 17 minutes and wearing the same cloths for days on end was considered cool. Old Gn'R spoke to me for more reasons than one. I was a skinny, white kid from a socially regressive mid-western state. Axl gave me a voice and a confidence to focus my angers and frustrations.

So for that, I will forever be thankful.

Truer words were never spoken my freind....as they went from exile on main st to goat's to let it bleed....they basically made making music look easy.....EASY!!!

I'm just going to say it, a radical revolution will never happen. Never.

Sanders sunk any chance of it anyway when he dismissed the south, along with Tim Robbins. Even if it happened, and he filled the Senate and Congress with left wingers and they passed everything he wanted, unemployment will rise, taxes will rise, the cost of living will rise, the economy will sink, and that's all coming from Sanders who says that it will all be worth it later on... Unfortunately, in four years a republican will walk in and run on all of those radical things, undo allof them and take over.

Sanders has been in politics his entire adult life. He's been in Washington for over thirty years. He is the establishment.

Trump will torch him on his commie ties and Castro praise. He will destroy him on taxes. On the debt. Giving the IRS more power. On the economy, etc.

No matter what Trump says, the election will be won on kitchen table politics and people will vote for the guy who wants to build an imaginary wall, over the guy who wants to raise your taxes.

How do we know this exactly? How do we know that the economy will sink, taxes get higher....etc? I kinda always thought what he meant was something more like how things were in the 1950s. Under Eisenhower....I think you can do a lot by stopping people from hiding money across the world. How many billions is enough?

I dunno...I don't know if the U.S. deserves to survive. Not in its current form anyway. If this is really the best the world can do...I think I'm disappointed.

Are The Cult even known in Mexico? They're barely known here with this generation.

I don't think it matters. This is all about Guns. They are selling out stadiums in the States without an opener even announced yet. I am hoping the Mexico City crowd is electric.

Isn't Matt Sorum in the Cult? lol

Sorry but in my opinion you're just as bad as DeadSouth.

Thanks, man. But I didn't say anything about anyone here based solely on gender. That's sexism, when your argument is ONLY about gender.

Would anyone say Slash sucked dick to get back in GNR? Doubtful.

Would anyone say Duff needs a "white night" to defend him. Doubtful.

Sorry, but in my opinion, you are worse than deadsouth. At least he owns his ignorance.

You came into this thread on some high horse expecting to educate people from your enlightened point of view. Failed.

Yeah, it's sexism, absolutely based on the definition

"prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of sex."

So, nice try insinuating I'm the one that is sexist because I call out people for terrible posts.

And all of this because I actually enjoyed Melissa's work before GNR. Amazing.

Ohhh bigbri.....myyyyy hero

At least you continue with your sexism. I'll give you that.

Melissa is not a damsel in distress that needs rescuing by a man, or a "fanboi." On the contrary, I bet if confronted by her, you'd shit your pants like a little child.

Dude...do you even know what sexism is? It's not just a blanket term to describe any moment in time where a man criticizes a woman.

I am critical of the idea that a band ever needs multiple keyboard players and/or synthesizers. Where is the sexism there?

I think there is a sexism in you feeling the need to stand up and make this a sexism issue and then champion women's rights like you're some sort of super hero.

Discogs lists her on two albums(both self released on burned cd-r).  but please continue to white knight.
