The somewhat negative posts on this thread are indicative of the somewhat abusive relationship we've had with this band.
Here the thing though, there are some many things going on right now (and have been going on for months now) that should lead you to believe we're not in the same pattern here.
1) The reunion
2) Taking the stage on time or even early
3) The amazing set list including coma, estranged and so many others
4) Absolutely no negative press about the shows, or individual band members themselves (except for that whole thing about Axl not liking his google pics)
5) Adler on stage with the band
6) We're what....a dozen shows into the tour and now they are announcing dates into next year (this could lead you to believe that they are earning the trust of promoters and management again)
You could add more to this list....but the point is that there is plenty of reason that things are different right now. My hope/guess is that when you start seeing VR songs in the set list that the band is building confidence and good will. My hope is that they can parlay this momentum into a snowball and then who knows what could happen.

Stew Mac is a great resource...but if the neck is starting to a twist then it might be time to find a new instrument...thats a bit beyond my skill or knowledge...I'd take the guitar to a local guitar centre type of guitar shoplayer and have them look at it
For electric guitars I taught myself a bunch of stuff for basic maintenance...basically I unknowlingly fucked up the setup on my guitar when changing strings...I brought it into Long & McQuade in Canada and I hated the setup I got back
From there I researched and learned how to do my own basic setups...intonation, action, neck relief, pickup swaps, wiring etc etc
After spending some time, I picked up a Gibson with an Austin neck. Picked up a sweet practice amp....almost makes me sound pro sometimes.
I'm having trouble with the puck up settings - treble vs rhythm or both.
I don't know if I like the sound I get so far with the treble. Am I doing something wrong? Rhythm pick ups make me cum in my pants.

That's really messed up man....no critical analysis at all....just spewing hate. I take it you're a Trump backer.
I just don't get the point of it. It gets you absolutely nowhere. As a self-proclaimed "white liberal," all I have to offer is an attempt at empathy and a genuine sadness about a problem that seems to have no solution. I'm not pointing any fingers, I'm not being smug, and I'm certainly not denying my own whiteness.
ID is a democrat and is voting for Hilary.
That's surprising given the rhetoric.

We had a member here who lived on the east coast but was moving to Ripon or some other town near me. Forgot who it was. If you're lurking, still live in this region, and do happen to support this, head on over to Paradise and Bystrom and start pontificating about how much you support them in this cause. I'll monitor a scanner to see how long it takes the ambulance to pick you up.

The last few comments above are a case and point of why things will never change. I truly believe people would rather be angry and point fingers than put something, anything behind us. I have so many issues with the #blacklivesmatter movement but I also have an issue with that hatred that Trump is spewing and apparently gathering energy around.
To say this is Obama's fault is absolutely absurd. I do not understand this at all. Obama may have exposed some things about this country that we all wanted to pretend weren't there...but they were always there.
When I look around, all I see are people that are hurting and acting out in anger. Otherwise, I guess we will all collectively hold our breath until the next act of violence occurs. Then we can have the same tired conversations all over again....and again....and again.

Hey all,
I thought I'd set up a post here and see if I could get any advice.
Many years ago I spent my late teen and early twenties in a band. While I believe I grew proficient in the instrument itself, I never bothered to learn about the instrument itself. Things like how to take care of an electric or acoustic guitar, how to gauge an instruments quality, and really anything that would help me choose how to pick a new guitar to purchase.
Just to give an example, over the years the neck of my guitar was starting to twist in one direction making pull-offs and hammer-ones difficult.
If anyone has any info on the topic, or some direction on where to research I would be greatly appreciative.

Gagarin wrote:whatever song that will end up being played and some forum poster will end up moving the goal post anyway.
Except the people complaining aren't the ones moving the goal posts: it's the exact same complaint as in '06,'08/'09.
The crux of the complaint is that the set lists are indicative of the general malaise and lazy attitude that has infected GnR for the past 25 years.
There is clearly supercilious thinking going on, that whatever's being presented is "good enough" & we should somehow be grateful for even that?! WHAT?! & there's little effort made to go above and beyond. & people have a right to expect that, why should the band or the fans settle for "ok that's good enough", asif merely being in their presence is some kind of privilege?! Not for me well. I don't think the sunshines out of axls fat hole.Good for you lot who are glad to accept whatever they feed you, it doesn't mean others don't have legitimate questions of the organisation.
& why shouldn't people be allowed to express an opinion, & if you're so content why let it bother you anyway?
It's funny how you can OMG and spunk yer load to Coma but it's somehow less legitimate for someone to do likewise to TWAT or Back off Bitch?! That doesn't seem very fair..Surely given that these are stadium shows with 40-60,000 then statistically it's more likely more people will have seen the show online or be going to multiple gigs that the 5-8,000 that turned up for the arena shows with axl & his travelling circus..??
Meh. It is what it is. I didn't even want to get into this fight really. I've long since accepted the slack attitude of Axl to the brand. I'm just saying that the set list is just one of many indicators of the attitude at play - both from the owners & from the people/fans who accept it. It's clearly not a fight I'll ever win, I learned that a long time ago. Or at least I thought I did.. I'm just beatin a dead horse..
I really do find this quote compelling because there is so much truth to it. It gets to the heart of what I always called this...the "cash grab tour."
I even felt this way as I was walking up to Soldier field on Friday. The emotions were truly all over the place. I was so happy and grateful that this was happening. I was angry and sad it hadn't happened sooner. I was so thankful to have this band in my life. I was upset and pissed that there could have been so much more.
In the end...I just tried to focus on the positive feelings.

I appreciate the homefuck.
Amazing show and amazing to be there with tens of thousands of people, not just 'thousands of people'. I really hope this is a windfall for all involved, especially the 3.
Best of the shows I've been to.
3 or 4 songs in Axl says "Good morning!", talks about how he read the "selective annihilation" quote in Civil War in the Chicago Sun Times. "There's bugs in my water - that costs extra!" sometime towards the end of the show.
Oh is that what he said? I couldn't understand him when he spoke. Did he say anything else? lol...bugs cost extra?

Once the reunion started and DTJ was being performed, I was glad homefuck had been ditched. He used it in KC and I wondered if it was by accident as they had performed it so many times in 91-93. Once it happened again in Chicago... I realize its here to stay. Not a dealbreaker obviously but it always seemed a bit cheesy. In its defense, pretty sure he's the person who coined the term so it has that unique twist going for it.
Forum fans had been pointing out its absence. Makes me wonder if it was added due to that.
The appeal of the song to has always been the instrumentals and not so much the lyrics. I see where you're coming from on the "home fuck" front...it certainly isn't a necessary component.
I was thankful to be reintroduced to the illusions songs live that it hardly hit my radar.
Disclaimer: this is not a knock on the set list. I'm thankful for what I got. Doesn't mean I don't wish for more.

Glad you enjoyed the show. Must not be a big fan of DTJ as people have noticed he's brought back the word "homefuck" which had been missing from the song this year.
Forgot about DTJ....honestly they played so many songs I forget some.
DTJ was great....home fuck doesn't bother me none.
Personally I'd like to hear more from UYI.
