misterID wrote:Eh, no one should be thankful that their ancestors were part of Holocaust because it allowed them to be part of an industrial revolution... And I don't think your comparisons are really fair. As a southerner, a son of confederate veterans, who actually has a tender spot in my heart for the rebel flag, not only should thery not be grateful, but descendants of slaves should get reparations, or some form of it. (Please don't say shit about food stamps equating reparations, because that's a line of racism that can't be back tracked)
I hate Trump because he's an idiot, not because he's politically incorrect (watch Bill Maher's show last night when his campaign manager was faced with every lie he has told) but I hate it worse that my beautiful southern people are the most gullible people on the face of the fucking earth.
I didn't say holocaust. And to suggest slavery is comparable to the complete genocide of a people is not only inaccurate, it cheapens the intentional actions taken against Jews and other "undesirables".
But why shouldn't someone acknowledge the positives of tragedies in the moment? Those who suffered the tragedy of Hiroshima suffered greatly. But the American and Japanese who didn't perish in the forthcoming land battle were happy to be alive. The millions who suffered and perished in WW2 certainly didn't enjoy their pain. But can anyone deny that the West is much safer and happier as a result of the conclusion of that war? All parties engaged in that war are better off now than before. They have 21st century technology and food at their disposal.
Blacks aren't due reparations because they haven't suffered. Not only are people not owed anything for what occurred legally at the time, they're not owed anything for something that never was inflicted on them. If any American Black was owed anything, it'd be those who suffered under Jim Crow and they alone. And only for the grievances they directly received. Jim Crow was declared unconstitutional, ergo it never was legally enforced. Slavery was never ruled unconstitutional, and only is so because of the 13th amendment. I'm not making a moral argument for slavery, but pointing out you can't retroactively and selectively try to apply modern customs and law to events that ended centuries ago. Should Egypt provide reparations to every Jew? Should England pay reparations to every American because they illegally exerted their control over us?
Reparations are de facto given to blacks in this country just as they are to you and me. Whatever hardships our ancestors suffered to build the word we live in, is paid to their descendants by being able to live in this great country. Poverty in America is luxury in many of the countries most Blacks' cousins in Africa presently reside.
So to acknowledge that something horrific had positive outcomes isn't politically incorrect or factually wrong. It's pointing out that bad, horrible shit has happened to every race or creed since the dawn of man, and all of us are better off because humanity is driven to improve its situation in life.
What the fuck are you blathering about?
Did you copy and paste this from some where?
You're as self righteous as Trump, you're a match made in heaven.
I wish to remind you that you, personally, have done nothing. You have contributed nothing to this country. I think you need more reminders.

Fuck you. I've never said anything that wasn't objectively true. Proving my point once again that when intellectual lightweights are backed into a corner, your only response is to pass out accusations of racism and bigotry. How about you try proving what I said was incorrect. And when you can't, maybe you should reassess the nonsense you consider the basis for your world views.

Get out of here with your racist, white guilt nonsense. I don't believe the color of your skin or ancestry has dick to do with your potential. Slavery was limited to the south by cotton farmers and had a negligible impact on the economy. Once industrialization came, slaves were worthless.
Every black person in America should be grateful their ancestors were slaves. Name a single African country where your average black is remotely as comfortable and privledged as your average black in America. The Latinos are no different.

Using your very own words against you and I quote you say something to the effect of you "don't believe ancestry or skin color should have anything to do with your potential." Then you go on to say that white people are to thank for anything good that's ever happened in this country. That is the definition of a Donald Trump supporter and also the definition of hypocrisy. Your own words can be used against you because you don't believe shit about what you say. What you believe is that you are entitled. Randall flag is entitled. Simply because your great grandfather did something to help this country has nothing to do with you. I don't give a shit about your genealogy. I don't give a shit about you. Your contribution has been close to nothing and therefore your need to keep cashing that check of your ancestry is wearing thin.
If you want to talk about lineage and heritage, then I'll share a bit of mine with you. My family has been in this country for well over 100 years. I have Austrian dissent, the most Arianne and white supremacist culture that there ever was in Europe. Next to Germany, of course.

First I heard of it was from the Hilary camp in 2008 on CNN... Because she did kill that soon after that let the rabbit out of the hat.
Let's be honest, nobody really knows and it is plausible he was born in Africa. His father is from there and he has a brother there. We basically accept it because he says its so. The birth certificate looks like something made at kinkos. Obama himself has no clue where he is born since he was too young to remember, lol.
His mother died in 1995. I can at least see where there may be some skepticism... As far as not being a Muslim.... Why is this an issue and who cares if he is? His father was a Muslim and the democrats always talk about all their tolerance yet they go ballistic when this topic comes up and scream "HE IS A CHRISTIAN"!!!! None of us know what he really believes or how he thinks.. We basically accept it at face value. And that is okay... Weird last time Barack was his father was when he was 10 years old in Hawaii.. 1972 I think...His birth was announced in the Hawaiian newspaper. Christ, think... For someone who doesn't care it really does seem like you care.

You know it doesn't even matter. The people who want to believe he was not born in this country will continue to believe that no matter what evidence you offered to the contrary.
Even people on this message board who can't seem to wrap their head around this will continue to believe what they want to believe. It is the standard conservative mantra in my opinion that even when presented with evidence to the opposite of said conservative beliefs, facts do not get in the way of belief systems.
I will never understand the rightshatred of Obama. I will never get it. It's easy to point at racism, because there is plenty of it. I will never understand it.

I agree with so much of this - but you know what they're all going to say? Nothing!
A big fat load of nothing.
Redirect the conversation back to "national polls" and other things that point to the possibility of upset.

We should just forgo the election and give it to Trump - he's pretty used to having things handed to him.
No one will ever represent the establishment more than he....full of bluster....nothing to back up anything he says....
I got news for ya....Trump only helps Trump....
In addition, Wasn't it just a month ago that all you Trump backers were saying "polls don't matter?"
My how you all sing a different tune when the news comes out in your favor.
"Hoorah for me and fuck you."

There was a fantastic book about the 2008 election named "Game Change." What a killer read, just fascinating. I hope there is one about the inner workings of both campaigns this time, but more in particular Trump's. I'm sure it's going to be a juicy read. The inside scoop on Palin was terrifying, especially when you read that McCain's chief strategist, Stever Schmidt, later admitted that Palin "knew absolutely nothing" and her participation alone was reckless for this country.
