I like Evo, it has the best actual discussion of the band's music and the Chinese era judgment free.

But in case anyone didn't notice Gn'R is the most corporate rock band out there.

Axl's jokes are the same, the setlist is the same, the solo spots are the same, and so on. I respect a "good product" but night-to-night threads would basically be "are they playing Hard Skoooooooo tonight"?

It's the least creative, least interesting, least dangerous band out there.

Axl releasing Absurd was the funniest and coolest thing he's done in three decades. The only way it could've been any better is if the album cover was a photograph of a woman's crotch.

The thing I find a wee bit disappointing is that they're basically "locked in" to the setlist because of all the video walls, pyro etc. There's no way for them to jam or whip out an unexpected cover. Like, they couldn't bust out a Rolling Stones jam to mark the passing of Charlie Watts?

I suspect that COVID threw a wrench into the plans. Presumably the original plan was: drop a new album, tour off the back of that for a while, then when it starts to go off the boil, drop the UYI special edition to give the tour another shot in the arm. Now everything's been pushed back by a year or two.

Why not just release Silkworms if this is the final product??

Because Slash and Duff weren't on Silkworms.

2019-20 is the new 2006-07.....had to get the new members in the band on the material before the album is released.

Old me might have complained....new me is doing cartwheels down the street.

Assuming MSL was correct, Slash and Duff started laying down new tracks on the CDII material pretty rapidly. Didn't he say they'd worked on Atlas Shrugged all the way back in 2016?

Seriously guys? I mean, nice gesture. But if there's one thing I thought we could fairly guarantee, it's that the members of Guns N' Roses could cobble together a fucking Rolling Stones cover on the night.

Like, really. Just slap that graphic up on the screen and belt out Jumpin' Jack Flash or something. You all know how to play it.

Up to 15 min these days? If they keep touring and continue like this they could reach 30 min of KOHD in a couple of years...

Dream the impossible dream, an entire 3 hour concert that's just KOHD.

This Fortus lesson always made me chuckle, where he's going, "The same chord progression… the whole way through. The whole ten minute version," with a sort of thousand-yard stare.

So does the release of Absurd "count" as "new music?"  Just curious what the consensus is.  My opinion is a rehashed song played live in 2001 before being canned doesn't, but that's just my opinion.

Have we really reached the point where GN'R put out an actual new song, and people are splitting hairs over whether it constitutes a new song?

If they'd done this for Chinese Democracy I would've snapped it up like a shot.

I mean, we were basically doing this with the Rock Band files.

It occurs to me that a problem with the current setup they have is they can't decide to do an impromptu cover or jam, because of all the video walls and pyro and whatnot. AFAIK they don't really have a "generic" video wall display that they can just use for a cover they've decided to do on the night.

Slash is so badass on this shit.

Thanks! The video I'd seen was shot from up in the balcony, but this one is just as good. Aside from having been shot on a potato…

Yes, the one from the balcony was superior quality. I spent a long time searching for it last night.

I wish I'd thought to grab it; no idea why the person who uploaded it decided to suddenly set it to private. Oh well, at least we have this record of it.

I've been saying this for ages, but: Gimme Shelter, with Melissa up front doing the Merry Clayton vocal. There was a really neat video of Slash doing a cover of it with Ghost Hounds on YouTube, but the fucker who uploaded it has set it to private (don't suppose anyone downloaded it?). And Fortus would be really cool on the spacey intro.
