i like bale as an actor...i didnt really appreciate him though until i read the american psycho book, then re watched the movie...he does an excellent job of bringing that character to life
still i didnt care for t3 or batman returns sp i dont know about this flick....i just hate action flicks these days, a good actor cant do anything about ashitty supporting cast, a bad script and no viable plot lines which seems to be a common trend in the genre these days
It's called Batman Begins, and WTF are you smoking with the "bad cast and no viable plot" comment? Batman Begins has a kickass cast. An Oscar-worthy cast. Bale, Liam Neeson, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Rutger Hauer. Those are some incredibly gifted actors. And the story is not action-oriented until the end. The first 45 minutes doesn't even include Batman as a character. It's all about his journey to become Batman.

Yes, definitely hot. She could use a boob job, but otherwise she's got a great body and great legs.

There were a few notable things about Zodiac to me:
1. The acting is top notch, especially from Mark Ruffalo as Detective Toschi and Robert Downey Jr. as the reporter Paul Avery. Gyllenhaal even managed to give a good enough performance that he didn't annoy me, which is saying something because I usually find him annoying. The guy who plays main suspect Arthur Leigh Allen did a great job. It's one of the creepiest performances out there I would say.
2. The attention to detail was very noticeable. They did a great job re-creating the time period and there's a great soundtrack that goes along with the movie. "Hurdy Gurdy Man" by Donovan is honestly the creepiest song you'll ever hear given its context in the movie.
3. The investigation is very interesting because of all the dead ends and you really start to feel for Toschi especially. He was blamed for not catching Zodiac, but he tried his damndest to catch the bastard. Robert Graysmith's obsession and the way it tears him away from his family as he's doing the research is the heart of the story.

I don't remember her name. Been quite awhile since I read about the case. Happened out here in the country a few miles from Keyes(small town). Yeah, her car broke down and he picked her up.
Highway 99 runs through the central valley. It was not as big then as it is now, and there was a stop light on the freeway at the Keyes exit.
It was probably a crime of opportunity. God only knows where he was headed next.
Isn't there some dispute as to whether he actually did it though? The way I read about it, they don't know because he took credit it for it AFTER it had appeared in the newspaper. The movie shows this part where Robert Downey Jr.'s character tells Jake Gyllenhaal's character about all the crimes Zodiac had taken credit for and that there were really only 4 or 5 murders/attempted murders that could be verified. At one point he says, "Zodiac just took credit for 'em because he was in it for the press."
By the way, I think we are talking about the same woman because in the movie it's portrayed as being out in the middle of nowhere.

Oh shit, I had no idea that was in the film. The few reviews I read of Zodiac obviously were not very good. It was supposed to be very little on the Zodiac himself and no concentration on the crimes. Just the investigation.
I'm gonna move this to the top of my Netflix queue.
By the way, the Zodiac's final attempt at nabbing someone happened literally a few miles away from where I am right now.
Is that the woman I'm talking about? Kathleen Johns? She had a baby with her. By the way, I'm getting some screencaps from the DVD for you.

The Zodiac committed possibly the most creepiest murder in history. To not put that on film is a travesty. It wasn't speculation either as one of the victims survived and told what happened.
I don't understand Fincher's reluctance to include it.
What are you talking about? The hooded attack where he wore an executioner outfit?
I assure you that it is in the film and is quite honestly the most frightening thing I've ever seen in a film. And it's not a horror movie but that scene is incredibly realistic and chilling. Actually, I'd go even further to say that it's painful to watch it because you know that the girl dies in real life and the stabbing is done in a very realistic fashion. Her screams as the boy is getting stabbed are very realistic as well. You can feel yourself there and the terror/pain that they're going through. The cinematography of the lake scenery is great as well. There are 4 crimes in the film itself:
1. Double murder attempt in a lover's lane at the very beginning of the movie. Gunshots. The girl dies, the boy lives to tell his story.
2. Double murder attempt at a recreational lake where he dresses up in an executioner's outfit. Knifed both victims. The boy lived, the girl died.
3. Single murder of a taxi cab driver with a gunshot to the head.
4. Kidnaps a woman and her baby after pretending to help her with a flat tire (that he causes); she escapes by jumping out of the moving vehicle.
The first 3 of those all occur within the first 30 minutes of the film. The 4th thing is randomly thrown in a little later. But for the most part, the final 2 hours of the film are about the investigation itself.

That's exactly the point of the Zodiac case. He didn't commit that many crimes. It was mostly about his taunting of the police and media, and more importantly the attempt to solve the case.
