Wonder why it's taking so long to hear who is opening the remaining dates.
#32 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl vs Google/the internet » 472 weeks ago
He should concentrate more on being fit for this tour where people will say "wow...he looks nothing like that pic on the internet now!"
No one is expecting 1988 Axl to show up...but lose any ridiculous facial hair and work with the personal trainer and lose as much weight as possible.
#33 Re: Guns N' Roses » What's your dream song inclusion for these shows? » 472 weeks ago
KOHD is the only cover I care to see them do...but if they must, I'll take Sweet Home Alabama...for personal reasons lol.
But I want as many GN'R songs as possible...would like to hear Think About You, One in a Million, Coma, The Garden, Yesterdays...outside of the obvious ones you know they'll do. Hope they mix it up some...at least rotate 3-4 songs in the set.
#34 Re: Guns N' Roses » Lenny Kravitz on opening for GNR » 474 weeks ago
Ok, ok...maybe he's had 2-3 legit radio hits...just none I really care to hear live lol. But it looks like he's not the opener when I'm going anyway. Now if it ends up being Myles Kennedy or some crap, I'll probably wish I'd had Kravitz on the bill.
#35 Re: Guns N' Roses » Lenny Kravitz on opening for GNR » 474 weeks ago
Does Kravitz actually have hits? I know maybe 2 songs. Disappointing...but at least he wasn't announced as the opener for my date...July 31 in New Orleans. I'm hoping they bring on someone kick ass after Kravitz's run.

Well, this news is certainly disappointing.

I'd love them to keep Sebastian Bach opening for them because the crowd loves him and he puts on a great show. Bands like Airbourne, Steel Panther, or old bands who had great music that aren't in huge demand are who I would pick because I love nothing more than a solid rock show through and through. If Helix (you guys probably don't remember them) and, say, Baz opened for GNR, I'd be absolutely thrilled because there wouldn't be a bad song all night. I know if you go see a small show, you have to sit through songs you don't know, it's part of the game. But when I see a huge band, I hate nothing more than sitting through some new shitty local band like I did when I saw Def Leppard, or an unknown band that doesn't fit the audience, like Vintage Ink when I saw AC/DC.
I don't think the opening act means dick on this reunion tour. No one's gonna shell out those prices because they like the opener a lot.
I agree...I couldn't care less about seeing some local band or some band I've never heard of. If I had my way, it would be Cinderella, then Skid Row with Bach and then GN'R on the bill. Now I know the opening band isn't what people are buying tickets for...but it would be nice to have an opening act that has actual hits to play...songs the audience would actually know. These are stadium shows...being the opener is a bigger deal than your usual shed or even arena tour. If it came to it, I'd rather hear Sebastian Bach solo as the opener as opposed to Myles Kennedy or some no name band who hasn't sniffed a gold record...much less a platinum one. And don't give me the whole GN'R shouldn't have an "80s band" be the opener. Like it or not, GN'R ARE an 80s band...one of the biggest. The guys are all around 50 now...the band is never going to be "cutting edge" again...so don't be ridiculous trying to be "relevant" today. The Rolling Stones aren't "relevant" now...but they sell out stadiums on every tour. GN'R, while not having that stature as a band, are in that category. So give the fans what they want.

I'd probably just skip the opener if it was The Cult or Kravitz. Alice in Chains...so-so.
I'd be excited to see the Black Crowes or even Bach as a solo act. A Skid Row reunion combined with GN'R would blow the lid off the place.
The "easiest" choice that could readily happen would be the Black Crowes...that would be really solid.

Not many bands have had a debut album and a follow-up album right after as strong as Skid Row did. The debut album and Slave to the Grind are really good albums. I think Bach would be all over reuniting and opening up...the other guys in the band must not need any money at all and invested those early advances in Cisco stock back in the day lol.

I wouldn't be crazy about Lenny Kravitz...never been a big fan...really only know a couple of his songs at all.
The Black Crowes would be a great opener...assuming they don't do the ridiculous thing where they don't play any of their old hits.
I'd still love to see a reunited Skid Row...and I agree...they must be nuts to give up any chance of playing stadiums just because of being asses. They'll never get the opportunity ever again...assuming they'd get the offer to begin with. I don't know what kind of venues Ozone Monday...errrr, "skid row" are playing these days, but I'd be surprised if they're even registering on the casino circuit in Biloxi these days.
