#31 Re: Guns N' Roses » How we will know for sure that CD is done » 918 weeks ago
sic. wrote:Thus, I believe 'label holding the release' is a very strong implication that CD (if not its successors) is done. After delivering the master, Axl has over a decade's worth of answers to be given to the label. His March 6th letter, while true to his intentions at the time, was certainly overoptimistic in this respect, as any regular relations with the label had been severed in early 2004, and Merck and co. were in the process of rebuilding the bridges.
The only question which was valid for 2007 was when the label would start hindering the release. Now, it's happening and thus I believe the record is done.
If I was to speculate, I'd probably come to a similar answer. Mysteron says its done and in the label's hands (and his connection wit the band is legit or Jarmo would have shut him down). They cancelled some dates at the beginning of the year to finish up recording, then a statement from Del James said the album was being mixed (i believe this was in Feb), so it totally makes sense.
I guess we'll find out when its time.
Regardless of whether or not Mysteron has any "inside connections" to the band, his vague and almost always incorrect statements can only be taken with a grain of salt. Aside from getting pre-sale tickets, what has this guy ever done to prove his credibility. I've never seen anything. Some consider Jarmo an insider, and he was swearing this entire year that the album was going to come out in 2007. I've been saying since Axl's open letter last year that he wouldn't put it out in 07'. Can I be considered an insider too ?
Axl has been known to cancel concert dates before, so that doesn't prove to me that he did it to work on getting the album out there. Del saying that it was being mixed in Feb also means nothing. Do you really expect to hear him say something like "it's nowhere in sight." It was just another way to try and appease the fans, like Axl's December 06' open letter.
If anybody is seriously buying into this rumor that it's the record company holding this thing up, I'm assuming that you also believe santa will be paying you a visit next month.

As I have stated in a couple threads recently, I think Slash has permanently closed the door on a reunion. Axl ran his mouth too much.
No way.
I think all it would take would be for Axl to actually man up and talk to him. If Axl were to actually take some kind of blame for what happened in the past, I think it would change everything.
You don't hear Slash saying he wouldn't ever want to do a reunion. He just simply says he doesn't see it happening. You can't blame him for thinking that. Slash has tried to talk to Axl and he's said multiple times in the past year that he takes responsibility for some of the downfall. But as far as we know, Axl still hasn't talked to him. Before this could ever happen, I think Axl needs to shit can his yes-men like Beta and Del and start acting like a 45 year old man, instead of the whiney little kid like he's been for the past decade.
I don't think even Axl himself has completely closed the door on a reunion eventually. He still hasn't been able to put out his album with the new hires. I think he thinks about how this may affect a possible reunion more than some of you like to think. I still say it happens eventually. When, I have no idea.

#33 Re: Guns N' Roses » Steve Jones On Chinese Democracy... (From 1996) » 919 weeks ago
It hasn't been 15 years.
The groundwork for Chinese Democracy started in early 99.
Fair enough. Like you said, it still doesn't excuse the ridiculously long wait.
So it brings up the question: Can the revamped 2006-07 lineup release an album when the 2000-04 lineup couldn't? Thats the million dollar question, and we may have to wait years to get an answer.
If we have to wait years to get an answer, I think the million dollar question will be more like, will the revamped 2010-2011 lineup be able to release an album when the 2006-2007 couldn't ?
If I were a bettin man, I still say doubtful. Hope I'm wrong though.

Finck and Bucket especially have brought this project to where it is as much as anyone
15 years, 3 tours, a 5th drummer, and still no album. Are you considering the 7 demos as being progress ?
I'm not trying to be smart, but where exactly IS this project ? I'm pretty sure alot of people would look at this "situation" over the past 15 years and say that this seems to be going absolutely nowhere.

a punk guitarist with GnR would have been a fucking disaster IMO
Yeah, but in all fairness, so was a goth guy, so was a guy who wore a bucket on his head, and so is a guy who tries to shred the classics.

Yeah. I wonder if any type of BBF vocals will appear on Chinese Democracy. I wouldn't mind it at all.
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree.
I'm sure BBF is a nice guy and all, but I don't think he has any business whatsoever performing vocals on any Guns N Roses album. In fact, I still don't see how his guitar style fits in whatsoever to the GN'R sound. I'm not saying that he can't play guitar, it's just unecessary for this band, in my opinion.

#37 Re: Guns N' Roses » Bach talks about Axl on Angel Down » 919 weeks ago
I am sure he gives the guy credit on the album. I don't know who this guitarist is maybe he figures no one knows him but I really think Axl is just his guy, that friend that you mention constantly.
I have to disagree. Baz is obviously using Axl being on the album to drive this thing. I think that's hard for anyone to dispute at this point.
Seriously, does anybody on this forum have a friend that they bring up in converstaion this often ? It's especially weird for a 40 yr old guy to be doing this. It seems to me that aside from Axl having vocals on the album, Baz doesn't appear to be too confident about the actual material. I used to really like Baz because of his work with Skid Row, but since all this Axl ass kissing started, it's really made me lose alot of respect for him.

#38 Re: Guns N' Roses » Interesting read on Axl, touring, albums in Slash's biography » 919 weeks ago
I planned on getting the book eventually but I was in no rush..
however, it turns out my buddy is at an event with Slash right now.. long story short, he is bringing me back a signed copy of his book
That's cool.
I've found it to be an interesting read so far. Wish mine was autographed.

Plus, Adler and Sorum are complete douche bags so it would be nice to see them never profit from the Gnr name again.
Yeah, who'd want to see 2 drummers who played on all of the Guns N Roses albums actually profit from the name ? Makes alot of sense.

what i dont like is the fact that its impossible to have a thread on this board without you coming in and telling us how much you think it sucks or how much you miss the old band. this a fan board and it would be cool if we could actually have threads about them without these same stupid arguments you want to have. I dont post in the VR section here, I'll respect that some of you are VR fans and want to talk about your love for the band without people pissing on it.
Get a grip, jimmy.
I don't remember coming into any thread and saying that it sucks. I've said that I think most of Baz's new songs suck because IMO, they do. This isn't a Baz forum. As far as I know, being a Baz ballswinger isn't a requirement for being welcomed here.
This is a REUNION THREAD. If you don't feel like discussing a reunion, then stay out of the thread. If YOU don't feel like hearing what Slash has to say in the Slash's book thread, then stay out of the thread. How hard is that ? What other thread besides these two am I talking about a reunion in ? Point them out. The mods allowed these 2 threads in the NU section. Take it up with them if you have a problem.
