Rest in Peace

I bought Dominique Moceanu's memoir Off Balance from Amazon. Gonna finally read the damn thing. I was a huge gymnastics fan in the mid/late 90s. Fans begged her for years to write a book. She finally did. Now we get to find out what was REALLY going on back then. I do know she admits to using drugs back then. I always had a feeling those girls were hopped up on something. Glad that one finally admits it.
That sounds fascinating. I love reading memoirs. Let us know how it was when you finish, James. I'm intrigued. I recently reread Scott Weiland's memoir, Not Dead & Not for Sale. A really fun, if all too brief, read. But I love Scott.

I have not listened to that since it came out. That version is just atrocious. I was shocked that such a beautiful song could be ruined to that extent. Axl should have leaked that version of the song before handing the album in to the label to gauge the reaction. If ANY CD track deserved an opinion from hardcore fans before release, it was that one.
That original CITR is one of the few songs we've heard from the CD sessions that might have actually did something had the album been released in that 2001-02 time frame.
On the old version of the site years ago, I said as much as I love the song it needed some more guitar work, maybe Bucket on acoustic or something.
Be careful what you wish for...
I agree wholeheartedly. With all of that. The original CITR was beautiful. It really had the potential to be something more. Sure, I think we can all concede it needed some work. But like you said, be careful what you wish for

I just wish Axl/Uni would release CD II like Trent did The Slip. Maybe not for free but just throw the damn thing out there in the middle of the night and see what happens. What's the alternative?
I wish Axl would do a lot of things à la Trent. Trent Reznor has been able to watch himself and the majority of his fan base grow older with grace and dignity, all the while remaining a relevant force and a powerful contender in the music industry. Trent is widely accepted and respected by his peers and by the music press. Axl on the other hand... lol
Furthermore, James, I've always agreed with you. That '01 lineup is one of the best bands ever assembled under any moniker. But, aside for my holding out hope of a return, there simply ain't no goin' back.

Or better still...
Vocals: W. Axl Rose
Lead guitar: Robin Finck
Rhythm guitar: Duff McKagan
Bass: Tommy Stinson
Drums: Frank Ferrer
Keys: Dizzy Reed

Oh and just to elaborate my previous post, the more I think about it...
Lead Vocals: Axl Rose
Lead Guitar: Richard Fortus
Rhythm Guitar: Tommy Stinson
Bass: Duff McKagan
Drums: Frank Ferrer
Keys 1: Dizzy Reed
Keys 2: Chris PitmanSounds pretty fucking good to me.
Perhaps. Still, given that scenario, I'd prefer something along the lines of...
Vocals: W. Axl Rose
Lead guitar: Robin Finck
Rhythm guitar: Richard Fortus
Bass: Duff McKagan
Drums: Frank Ferrer
Keys: Dizzy Reed

I think Axl needs to distance himself and the GN'R brand from ChiDem if he intends on moving forward with -any- incarnation of the band. Revisiting that material even via a stop-gap remix EP, let alone as a "bonus" bundled with new(er) material, is Uzi suicidal.

lol Years later... I finally got all of Dizzy's solo ducks back in a row. "Fracas" and "The Air" are some of the best output by any Gunner. PM me if you wanna check 'em out.
