The Eagles sold close to 2.5 million in a few months with little to no radio exposure.....that is the only thing comparable to the Gnr situation at present. I am not saying Gnr will do that but the brand will help push a few more units. The first single is absolutely huge.
Good point. I forgot all about the Eagles. They were a Walmart only album and I believe internet sales as well. Yeah with that first single comes the real answer as to if this record is going to sell or not.

They should go for a raw unpolished sounding album. A Slash dominated album with strong riffs and good hooks from Scott. Maybe a 10 to 11 song album to cut any filler.

He's been a "dick" for a long time when it comes to things like that. It's nothing new. These guys were also thrown off the Rob Zombie tour so I don't really buy into their shit and well I think they are garbage.

Well, not many people are going to buy the album anyways. We got a taste of reality when the Baz record was released. A bunch of nutswingers said they were buying multiple copies each to support Axl, but in reality they didn't buy any copies. The album did so poorly its pretty obvious that it was bought by hardcore Baz fans, Skid Row fans, and a few GNR fans. Baz fucked up in his marketing. He thought fan loyalty to Axl was gonna put his album at the top but it did no such thing.
They might as well try an online release and see how it goes. Album sales are going to be low anyways.
I think you're off a little bit. The album is going to sell. The name Guns N' Roses will help the sales of the CD. A strong single will help as well with strong radio play. Big name bands still sell a lot of records. Gn"R with new members or not is still are named Guns N' Roses. Even if all the press is negative and other acts bash Axl for his tour behavior his name and then bands name is still out there and Chinese Democracy is almost always mentioned and an interest is there to hear the album. Especially with that strong single people will be like oh shit maybe this is going to be good. You can't compare Bach's album to this one because the name Sebastian Bach is not in the same league as Gn'R.
It will be downloaded but it will still break the million mark. Maybe a million in the first month if the material is actually good and there is a positive buzz around the long awaited album. I think it could sell in the hundreds of thousands in the first week. Bigger bands that have been around still can sell that. I don't think it will break 3-4 million in the United States. Worldwide it could sell I'm not sure if people still buy or if they just download like us in the states. But that would be considered a success today but obviously not for the record company that pumped 15 million into the album.
I guess if they actually did talk with Beta than the album is actually done finally. I don't buy into the whole pay as much as you want download. That's Classic Rock's little touch to the news.

#3588 Re: Guns N' Roses » Eddie Trunk on Chinese Democracy » 910 weeks ago
Better is definitely two, maybe three songs put together.
I never understood this theory. I think it's one song. The breakdown in the middle isn't so extreme or far off that it would be from another song. I think it was meant to sound the way it sounds.

I bring it up cause the first Eliminator runs looked so fake it wasn't even funny. The one girl was hanging on a rope for like 5 minutes until the other person got to it as well. Just seems a little fishy.

Don't hate on the newer people brought in for a stupid idea. Leave albums alone and write new fucking material. Kanye West is one of the best music producers (non rock/metal) out there today. It's a shame MJ can't come up with a new album.
