DJ is dating Nicky Whelan I guess.  She must be the girl in that twitpic he posted the other day.  She does have small breasts, but she's quite the looker.

defo agree w/this but the first section of that tune is really, really, really lame. & then the lyrics veer from being great to being shite, too inconsistent. the chorus is hideous. but certainly one of Slash's best solos.

BUT by this stage w/all his power n clout axl should have a team in place where he isn't having to correct everyone else's mistakes. OR he should be doing that particular work himself OR be much more involved in everything that's going on..

he should do this & that & the other things much better than he does them..
says me who tries to do as little as possible with the least amount of effort..

#3384 Re: Guns N' Roses » GN'R Twitter Updates » 832 weeks ago

at least he's ambitious..

on a slightly more serious note tho it's already gettin old dj being such a PR-friendly guy, i'm already pining for the days of brooding bucket & finck silence. he's only been at the COD launch & playin @ some lame sports game but already it seems like jeez really?? does he nah have somethin better 2 do w/his time than party at these brash events. just feelin that someone in GnR's lead role should be a little more exotic/eccentric with their social life.. (like ron's uber-normal teaching lifestyle is still WEIRD 4 being in GnR, Bucket & finck were obtuse & slash was fucked up like a proper bluesman, DJ just seems a little too cool..)

i am not sure though robin could play his own solo perfectly every night...

agree w/this.

imo neither match the studio/album versions.
buckets is astonishing. one of my clearest memories of leeds '02 was being stunned in the mosh when he hit the solo & i've watched it countless times since. certainly one of his best moments in GnR & one of the best GnR solo's ever. BUT the original, album version (that fades out right when it's at its very very best moment) is The Best Solo Ever, or at least as far as GnR goes. that was probably the moment GnR grabbed me & haven't let go since.

as for TiL, well first things first it's a million miles away from Nightrain.
but robin's solo is pretty wonderful. it's atypical yet somehow fits perfectly & gives the song a sound & texture it lacks with the more conventional DJ solo. DJ's solo is pretty good/ok these days but it doesn't have the uniqueness nor does it colour the track as well as the album version. i agree with sentiments expressed earlier in the year it's a little sad robin never got to play it live, i'm sure it woulda been cool.
i'd love to see robin maybe guest on it should GnR ever do a show with an orchestra!

when i talked to Del James breifly back in January it sounded to me like they had no part in booking the venues and sequence of shows

And I believe Ron when he said that he was approached by Chris in 2004 but wasnt brought on board until just before the tour started in 2006, and laid some tracks down as the tour progressed..but maybe its just me

i got that impression from some of the tweets & comments thruout this past touring year.
when exactly was doc brought on board & was it he who helped book the dates - at least the european tour?? it is strange trying to figure out just who runs things like the schedule/booking tours in GnR..

defo think u'r otm re: ron's involvement. think it was as madagas says late 06 early 07 recording.
