I think Axl S hit the nail on the head when he said "Motley shows are all about the fun". Rock, chicks, fire & reliving your youth. That's what people go for. Sure they notice his voice is off, a bit of a downer, but people go to relive the old times. Then go home to the kids, pay off the babysitter, and wake up to goto work the next morning.
All this shit about Vince when we're on a fansite for a dude that was responsible for the vocal atrocities in Rio 2001 and the 02 VMAs? Lets keep this fair and balanced, people.
And yeah, Tommy released a solo album in 04.

I would think Tommy has to start being fed up with it all, wanting to get out & advising others not to take the gig.
Nah, no way dude, why would Tommy be fed up? He'll get royalties from Chidem, he's made untold amount of money in tours and recording fees...all for Riad.
Tommy's probably made out like a bandit in all this. He can still pursue his solo project, still do whatever he wants, and his job duties are probably less than that of a WalMart greeter. Talk about a sweet retirement gig.

Whatever the case...i still disagree that the fans have given up.
Depends on who you define as fans and what you define as giving up. I haven't "given up" in that I still visit this site nearly every day.
But, if you look at the number of fans visiting the gnr boards at its peak, or even before the july/nov peak, and look at that number now...yeah, I'd say most of them/us have given up.
As for people who don't visit the boards, most of them didn't care about Chinese Democracy, and even fewer care about a tour.
I have no idea why Axl insists on shooting himself in the foot every time he turns around.

i'd consider this letting down my fans

christ get in shape and hold the notes. nothing is worse then when a singer holds the mic up to the crowd to bail himself out.
that said GNR still has no excuse for how this was handled.
Dude, really?
Listen to Better from Rock Am Ring, watch Axl fuck up the end of Paradise City at Download.
Neither of our aging rock star heroes are faring much better than the other. Like it or not, Vince is touring, and his voice isn't perfect.
Axl's voice isn't perfect, and he isn't touring.
#325 Re: Guns N' Roses » Fernando's link to leaks? And the craziness that is gnr » 842 weeks ago
Ronartest -- great, great username.
My thoughts:
Fernando was without question the original source of the MSL leaks. His actions and all the evidence point to him. But at this point, I doubt his mistakes would have any consequences for Beta. Beta is here to stay, and virtually nothing would put her job in jeopardy.
As for the 9 song leaks, a couple interesting theories have surfaced.
1. Merck. With the 2006 debacles, and apparently some bad blood between the GnR camp and Merck, its plausible. The one argument I've heard against this is that it would stain his credibility with future bands/projects.
At this point, I don't think anyone involved with the Chinese Democracy project and Axl could come out looking like the bad guy to anyone in the industry.
2. Someone on this forum found the "Barbara ann cogill" link on facebook, didn't they? Who was she married to? That was definitely something interesting, but then again, wouldn't the FBI have gone after that right away? Skwerl knows who gave him the 9 songs, and I think we'll find out eventually.
Also, I definitely think the 9 songs should've been used as leverage for more songs -- but then again, what about the anti quiet leaks wasn't handled poorly?
Between all the vitriol between UMG and Axl, not to mention the tremendous anticipation for the CD, it could've been any number of people, but the fact that Skwerl is keeping it hush hush for now seems to point to someone higher up.
I liked the 9 song leak more than the album because it was effectively the first time I had heard the album, not because the songs were better.
The only song I can even see a case for being better in the leaks is the title track, just because it's so different. Some people preferred the stripped down, bass heavy verse over the final product, but I'm not one of those people.
ITW, IRS, and The Blues definitely improved, I have a hard time seeing how people could disagree with that. TWAT benefited from more guitars, better CD quality sound, but not from the cookie monster shit.
Anyways, if we'd heard the album first and then the 9 songs, none of these people would be proclaiming their love for the leaks.
#326 Re: Guns N' Roses » Q&A with Bumblefoot » 842 weeks ago
Scraped... seriously?
That was my reaction, too. But, if you've heard his solo albums, he has his fare share of subpar songs, too. Maybe that's just the sort of thing he's into.
Scraped would be better without the horrific intro, and even then, it'd only be average.
#327 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl Eating His Words? (the song Sorry) » 843 weeks ago
Couldn't that be defined as a "new leak".
MSL might be able to confirm.
You win.
#328 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl Eating His Words? (the song Sorry) » 843 weeks ago
I dunno, tell that to the Northside Kings.
Arguing over which rockstars/A-team members would win in a fight is about the closest to GnR news we got these days...
#329 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl Eating His Words? (the song Sorry) » 843 weeks ago
Then Danzig came up, pushed Axl, and got punched out.

Well Monkey I agree with your first line. It's his music that counts. Problem is he isn't very productive. I don't care if he can kick Hilfiver's ass or Vince Neil's ass. But I know that on stage he out performs Vince. On a lighter note. Chuck Norris once threw a roundhouse kick at Axl and Axl just stood there laughing. Then he knocked Chuck Norris out by flicking his forehead. Oh yeah!
Then Mr. T came in and threw both those fools.
