Definitely growing on me. I loved the demo, but it needed work.  I like the touches Slash put on the solo, i just which they were more pronounced, maybe a little longer.  The talkbox part is great.  And the video seals it for me-really well done.

James- full confession; i was exhausted from a long drive and had a bit of a buzz when I wrote that, so it came off a little arrogant.  I did know some people on there, including a label president and some (self acclaimed?) "important" staff at Geffen, but "heavy hitters" was a douchy thing to say.  But my memories of MSL are well remembered there- his irreverence was refreshing in a place that took itself way too seriously, went against the grain, and when he was proven correct, made it all the more fun to see.  Do either of you remember a poster named GordonPymPoe?  He dm'd me around '06 (or whenever the cornrow years were) and claimed he was Axl smile

Insider or not...it's good to see you again. Haven't seen you in what, 7 or 8.years?

Where does the time go

Yeah it's been a while. I never stopped being a GNR fanatic, I just haven't posted much on message boards. I still go to every tour and buy all of the CDs. I'm as excited for the 2023 tour and the release of more new music as I was as a kid waiting for UYI to come out.

Good to see you back on the forums- i can remember you taking on the entire Velvet Rope site back in the day; you would drive those people NUTS- funny stuff.  I knew a couple of posters there that were heavy hitters in the industry, and it used to infuriate them that you knew more about GN'R doings than they did smile  Enjoy the "new" music -

I dunno- sounds like Axl to me; maybe working on his lower register after the Hollywood rose stuff?  The acoustic guitar part sounds very reminisant of the guitar version of November Rain.  Seems odd that stuff like this is still showing up.  Maybe there was more stuff laying around from that era that they didnt put out on the AFD box.

Project Little Man? I haven't heard that one yet. I'll check it out.

The way I handled his massive discography was to mainly focus on his mellow material...then it got to the point that I couldn't even do that.

Last album I bought from him is Rainy Days... that's probably like 200 albums ago.

That free Christmas album was great too.

I actually went in the other direction, towards the heavier, longer jams like Soothsayer.  Project Little Man is the musical equivalent to standing behind a 747 as it starts to take off; 18+ minutes of him peeling the paint off the walls.  My friends bust my balls for following him, but then I mix in some of his slower stuff at a party or driving, and they all ask  "who's this"?  I just grin

I've bought/downloaded probably 20% of his pikes, and im sure i haven't listened to half of it.  They came out so fast and furious for a while there it was impossible to keep up.  If im doing a road trip or alone in the office for the day i'll run through and give them a listen, and almost always find a gem. Its somewhat mind blowing that he's been this prolific (although much of it seems to be simple home recordings) and his former boss can't be arsed to put out 2-3 songs.  I wonder what '06-'10 Axl could have done with something like Project Little Man...

Seeing Metallica do their promo and the buzz and the multi-year tour must at least light some sort of competitive fire in GnR.

I think the opposite has happened.  GN'R & Metallica have often been compared/connected over the years, whether it was warranted or not.  With GN'R sitting in idle, Metallica put together a (fairly) unique and interesting tour, an aggressive marketing campaign, and released an all new, original album that is actually pretty good- and I don't really like Metallica.  I think GN'R saw all that and decided trying to be "competitive" at this point with Metallica would be too much work.

...and mere minutes after the tour is "announced" (teased?) by the race announcer, the GN'R car gets demo'd in a crash and can't continue the race.  Seems about right.

#29 Re: Guns N' Roses » SCOM Troubadour 2016 Pro Shot » 141 weeks ago

I just re watched a chunk of Houston 16, and I had forgotten how good it was.  I had seen them a couple weeks earlier in NJ, and it was amazing, but I think Houston was the best show they've had since the reunion.  Nothing since has really come close.
This Troubadour show, to me, was disappointing.  No one in the band seemed into it...

#30 Re: Guns N' Roses » SOG single coming? » 144 weeks ago

I lost most of the leaks when my comp crashed 3-4 years ago, but i do remember "Oklahoma" having a riff that sounded like something Slash himself had written.  Was there more than one version of this song, or anything with vocals?  I thought it was by far the closest to vintage GN'R of any of the leaks.  I still have SOG and have always liked it.
