Merck made the critical and amateurish mistake of getting caught up in forum politics.
When your job now consists of daily messages of irrelevant shit to Madison and chineseblues, you're just another albatross smothering the project.
He's also a huge factor in how negative the forums got back then.
If he was trying to stage a credible comeback, maybe release a single or two to prop up the US and Euro legs of that tour. If unable to do so, at least allow radio stations to play the songs fans were requesting.
They're the only band I have ever seen destroy their own buzz....and they did it twice.
I still say 2006-07 was just a quicky thrown together plan B after the 2005 reunion attempt blew up in their faces.
It also makes me look at that bizarre, out of left field release of Cornshucker differently in hindsight.
I think Cornshucker...and maybe something else... would have been iTunes bonus tracks to 'The Very Best of Guns N Roses'. It didn't happen obviously and they wound up going forward with it for whatever reason.
A release of cornshucker? Did I Miss something?

I was a little disappointed after watching the first live performance, but i have to say the studio version kicks major Ass! the bridge really seems a bit out of place as opposed to the village Version... anyways. Really impressive what difference slash and duff can make. The sound and mix in general is better than on CD if you ask me. And slash‘s guitar was sorely missed.

I think It was Budapest 2006.

I think I remember something Fortus said about working on material Slash wrote, but i‘m not exactely sure where and when i read that. If I had to guess I‘d say around 2014, but definitely long before Slash was back in the Band. Could have been hardschool.. and it‘s probably not the only song from those days. (Down by the ocean, this i love original version come to mind as well)

I‘m also looking for this one.
#26 Re: Guns N' Roses » Rough Mixes Disc 2 » 304 weeks ago
could someone hook me up with this disc?
#27 Re: Guns N' Roses » The Rebel Disc » 306 weeks ago
i could be wrong, but to me rebel and Oklahoma sound like something Slash would come up with. First post in a while by the way. good times to be a gnr fan, especially as a fan of the chinese democracy era as it was meant to be..
it`s sad to think about what could have been and to compare it with the reality and what we got officialy... but i guess axl or tommy feel the same. especially tommy. imagine you come up with and record all this great stuff and then you have people like Ron shitting all over it...
The original version of the title track is the best example. it sounds how it is supposed to sound and how i always imagined it to sound. a rock song, that couldn`t possibly kick more ass!

sounds great! i can`t wait for exactely THAT setlist to be played at the shows i`m going to in europe.
You don't want OTGM, My Michelle? You actually enjoy "The Seeker"?
You`re probably right that they shouldn`t play the seeker, but i still enjoy it. If you ask me, these setlists couldn`t really get any better. of course i`d like to see OTGM and My Michelle, but there are songs i`m looking forward to more. DTJ or Coma come to mind and slash playing Estranged and November Rain will be highlights for me. and i`ll go to 4 shows, so i`m fairly certain i`ll get to see some changes to the setlist. It might seem boring to someone sitting in front of their computer streaming every show they play and analysing every setlist, especially after having seen the Reunion already, but people in other countries are still waiting for that experience.
Tell this to someone in 2002: Slash and Duff are back in the Band, even Adler appears from time to time and they play songs like Estranged, Coma, DTJ, Civil War, Yesterdays and Don`t Cry again, plus stuff from Chinese Democracy, yet people are still complaining about the setlist :-D
I`m not taking this serious anymore. Some people won`t EVER be happy...

Skip to the last post in the thread.
"This past weekend, Guns N’ Roses’ first of two shows at Soldier Field in Chicago was sold out, but the second Sunday show was not as well-attended, with the stadium’s upper deck vacant on one side. The empty seats were noted on social media."
this is what i read:
As for the second day in Chicago, he said that since the first show was a sellout, 71,000 tickets were sold in all, grossing nearly $9 million.
