Hey, all. I'm not sure if this kind of article is allowed to be posted, or if this is considered the appropriate section, but I cam across this online and I thought that it was a pretty accurate description of how most see Guns N Roses these days. Enjoy!

Guns N' Roses showing signs of being labeled an 'epic fail'

You know, I've got to be honest. We have been fortunate with reunion tours lately. We've seen Rage Against the Machine, Led Zeppelin, The Police, The Grateful Dead and many others come back for one last hoo-rah. Blink 182 recently reunited not just for a tour, but to put out a new album as well. The ability to witness these events is an opportunity that few will be offered.

Unfortunately, these shows are often near-impossible to actually attend for various factors such as the high demand for tickets, cost, distance and our day to day schedules, just to name a few. Still, these shows are what hopes and dreams are made of.

With Guns N' Roses' most recent release, "Chinese Democracy," (which, in case you've been hiding under a rock, features Axl Rose as the only original Guns member) questions have arisen about the possibility of a reunion tour with members of the original band.

Well, all you original Guns fans out there, kiss your hopes and dreams goodbye. Axl Rose has wasted no time and put plenty of energy into properly responding to the idea of a true Guns N' Roses reunion and the response was simple and straight to the source of the issue.

"There's zero possibility of me having anything to do with Slash other than by ambush, and that wouldn't be pretty," Axl told AOL's Spinner.com in a recent interview. "He either should not have been in Guns to begin with or should have left after "Lies." In a nutshell, personally I consider him a cancer and better removed, avoided -- and the less anyone heard of him or his supporters the better."

When asked about a fan's message essentially asking Axl if either he or Guns guitarist Slash were to die, how the other would feel never having given fans the pleasure of seeing them together again, his response was even more up-front.

"Give me a f--king break," Rose said. "What's clear is that one of the two of us will die before a reunion show, and however sad, ugly, or unfortunate anyone views it, it is how it is. Those decisions were made a long time ago and reiterated year after year by one man."

Sad, ugly and unfortunate it is, but it seems a Guns N' Roses reunion would be about as likely as a Beatles reunion tour, taking into account departed band members and all.

Despite the fact that Axl has been the one making the noise recently regarding thoughts of a reunion, he isn't the only one to blame. Fans of the band know well the bad blood between the vocalist and ex-lead guitarist.

Although more fans tend to side with Slash thanks to his more quiet approach regarding his relationship with Axl coupled with the fact that Axl tends to be loud and obnoxious every chance he gets, don't be fooled.

The issues between the two are a result of the behavior of both Axl and Slash, not just one or the other.

Whether Slash is more subtle in expressing himself or not, the feelings between the two are mutual.

Guns fans do have some good news to relish however. It appears Axl sees a reunion with some of the other band members a possibility.

"I suppose (former bass player) Duff (McKagan) could play guitar on something somewhere but there's zero possibility of me having anything to do with Slash," Axl said.

So, it seems a dismembered Gun's N' Roses reunion may be in store for the future. It's not the news most fans were hoping for, but it isn't like we couldn't see this coming.

I know that I didn't expect anything more than this to happen, and I have a feeling other fans were able to assume the same.

Still, we are living in a time where big reunions seem to be announced all of the time, and although we may never get to see this incredible force of rock re-assembled, we can still enjoy the music they put out as well as the other amazing reunions that seem to just keep on coming.

All this does is prove that not all of our hopes and dreams can come true, so let's just sit back, enjoy those that do, and keep on dreaming.

I think being "a joke" might be a bit harsh, but overall I'm with the OP. Or at least pretty close. IMHO it's DEFINITELY a solo album. There is very little chemistry I hear on this record. It's Axl telling various studio musicians, "Ok, do a solo here.. no no, not that solo, a different one. Hmmm, no, faster.. ok that, let's take that & record it". Then he chose from about 20-30 different takes & solo's & inserted via Pro Tools which one & where. I could go into more detail & examples but I think you all understand me, some may not agree with me, but hopefully you know what I'm saying. The band itself is just a random acquisition of talent.

The more time goes on, the less I like it. It's ok, but certainly far from great. It's not even 13 years good. It should be a 'greatest hits' worthy album by now. It isn't.

The lack of chemistry was really noticeable at the show I attended. It seemed really scripted, but off the mark almost the entire show. Long story short, it looked like a group of guys paid to do a job. Nothing spontaneous or memorable.

I haven't listened to the new album in months. For me, it's not even the type of album you listen to when in a specific mood. Hell, I still find myself listening to AFD, Lies, and UYIs on a monthly basis - and those albums have been in my collection for nearly 2 decades.

What got me thinking about Guns again in the past couple weeks was Axl's "Slash is cancer, better removed" comments. I'd be lying if I were to say that didn't depress the shit out of me. I was hoping after this epic bomb of an album, he would have went back to where the real magic was. I am happy that he Axl at least warned us that future albums would be more of the same. Gives me a heads up to never drop another dime on one of his should-be-abortions.

I wasn't at all impressed by Robin. I didn't see anything unique with his playing that an amateur at the local bar couldn't pull off. Plus, the dude looked like a freak of nature in his Gnr early days. To be quite honest, I wouldnt have a problem with Bumblewhatever or the other guys following in his footsteps. If nothing else, Axl should bring Izzy and Duff back onboard. Bring back some of that GNR sound and quality that wasn't there on Chinese Democracy.

Pretty diverse and interesting reponses. Like I said, my intent wasnt to stir controversy, and judging by the "O, it's just another new vs old thread, I'm assuming my sentiments have been re-iterated hundreds if not thousands of times before by others.

Considering the money involved and the time invested, I think it would be difficult to argue that this thing was anything but a disappointment. I have satellite radio in my car and I hardly ever hear any of the new songs played. The few times that I had, they were typically followed by a Dj's comments about how bad these songs are. Shortly after buying the album, I had a poker night at my house and had some friends (old chool GNR fans) over. I played the album and they were like "WTF IS THIS SHIT"?! They couldnt believe when I told them it was Axl's new GNR. What's that one song, 'This I Love'?? My buds had a field day with that lame ass track. Honestly, it all sounded like shit to most of us.

The live show I saw in 06/07 was just as damn bad as the album. I couldnt believe Axl's guitar player was playing a Christina Aguillera song. Axl ran backstage about 10 times throughout the show (I'm assuming to get oxygen). It was just a mess. Slash, Duff, and Izzy made that band's sound. Axl's vocals are trademark, but without those other guys, it was just sad. Unless I got to go for free, I'll never see another new wave guns show unless it's a reunited GNR - but that doesn't look likely.

Hey all. Long time GN'R fan, first time poster on a GN'R forum. I'm not saying this to stir controversy, but it's something that I have to ask. Does anyone else think this new Axl band thing is a complete fuckin joke? I was a huuuuge guns fan back in the day. I was fortunate enough to witness a couple shows during the Illusion tours, and I'm old enough to recall SCOM being a single.

I'm sorry, but this whole new wave GNR (whatever it's supposed to be) is at best laughable. Chinese Democracy was awful, quite possibly the biggest let down of an album that I have ever witnessed. I attended a show in 06/07 (cant recall) and I honestly couldn't believe that Axl had the audacity to take these group of stooges on the road and call them Guns N Roses. Slash, Izzy, and Duff were just way to intricate to the band's sound. By taking those guys out of the equation, it's impossible to have Guns N Roses.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a big fan of Axl's, but he should have just called this band something else. Especially considering the epic fail he chose to release under this legendary band's name. I can't believe the man would piss all over the legacy the way that he has. They really were a great band back in the day. I was real disappointed to hear that there wouldn't be a reunion. I'm sure I haven't re-invented the wheel with this post, but nonetheless, I'm just floored at the way Axl has chosen to make a mockery of such a legendary name.

btw, nice website you all have here.
