This is where the big mistake came in keeping the name. I think they would have had a lot more success without trying to stick to the GNR name. They clearly wanted to move in a different direction at the time, yet it looked like they were constantly weighed down by justifying the music and the lineup to the AFD/UYI fanbase. They could have been as experimental as they'd liked under their own name. Axl could also have jumped back into GNR any time he liked, without even needing to break it up either.

Hard to say. Whilst from the outside it seems like they are dysfunctional and the communication is terrible, the band strategy does seem to have been relatively successful. They've embarked on a multi-year world tour with no new music to promote and ticket sales have largely gone down well. Gigs have largely gone without a hitch and the band has been consistently turning up and performing on time. So I guess compared to the utter chaos they were used to, it probably seemed quite serene from their perspective. I'm sure the weirdness around making music and the various Brazilian hangers-on grates on them, but again, nothing they weren't expecting with Axl I don't suppose.

I didn't even post the article. I just commented on it, more pondering what was more likely if it were true, an exit for Team Brazil or a breakup of the current lineup if Axl stayed loyal. Nowhere near the most controversial comment, there were threads calling Fernando a rapist still there when I lost access.

Doing some social media stalking and it seems all the band still follow Fernando and Beta and each other (Where they did previously) that I can see. I wonder who cracks first and quits.
