Buckethead is not on any form of The Blues that I know of. Didn't he leave the stage in 02 when it was played? The Blues could be written by anyone doesn't mean it's not a great single. You call it too generic to be successful, then call Better too complex?
If it's not BH on that outro solo I must be deaf. It's to me a very clear BHish solo.
The Blues is not good enough. Simple.
And yes, I call The Blues to standard and Better too complex. They are not the same song.
GNR will never again do pure and simple Buckcherryish music. I don't want that either. Hit material can be written in another form anyway.

Is "message for you" like the official title of the song now?

How is The Blues or Better not a single.
Because they are not good enough. The Blues could be a ballad written by any form of band. The only thing that makes the song interesting is the great Buckethead solo at the end mixed in with Axl's voice.
Better is a very good song, very fresh, it doesn't sound like anything anyone has ever done before. It's a complex motherfucker which will keep me happy, but it's certainly not single material. It's way to complex, way to many changes during it and the guitar is too low in the mix, not a good enough chorus either. Better than Slither? Oh yeah..only thing good about Slither is the Slash riff which is one of the better ones he's come up with in 15 years. Scott just wrecks the song IMO.
I.R.S is a rocker but it's far away from hit material although a good song.
CD is sort of a rocker too but still not good enough.
If The World could actually be a decent single if the album version has been worked on and tweaked. It's the only one I see.
I love these songs, but they are way to complex for bitchy rock fans wanting rock n roll.

A Norwegian newspaper blasted the demos pretty much I've been told.

VR is a failure. There's nothing there that's any good. TWAT alone is better than both of those albums. I dont know what happened to him but his riffs aint very good anymore

Some of the opinions and discussions are now opening up as I said they would way back in 01-02-03. A large part of the fanbase won't dig this at all. The hype has been so huge nothing can top it. It's still just only music and this is a bit on the experimental side as well. I've heard the songs since 2001 as all of you and I didn't find any hit material there, although Axl said he was holding back his big guns so that's what I trusted in. Don't get me wrong, I love some of the new material, but CD or Blues ain't hit singles. Better is close to it but it doesn't smack you in the face. Especially if you expected Jungle.
Sometimes these songs sounds a bit too much copy and pasted togheter. Sort of like a troubled mind not sure what he's making and just blending togheter a song which in the end just sounds like a mess. TWAT, brilliant as it is, have some of those aspects to it. Better especially got it. It's like they're not sure what approach to make and then just mix everything in. It also reminds me a bit of how we did our college papers in groups. We decided on a topic and went home seperately and wrote our part of it and then pasted it all togheter in the end. Usually it was a mess of a paper IMO.
I hope this is not the case, but apart of me is a tad scared from the last demos I've heard, even though I love them.

So someone threatened with law suit?
I didn't know the story. I was sort of out of the loop for awhile back then.
