I think that his approach was right and that he wanted it to be a band, but the people quitting made him stuck on that idea while the world around him changed it to being something else.

In my mind, that's what the band is though. With the revolving door lineup, it was almost inevitable that different people would be touring, and seemingly important figures would come and go.  New GnR is Axl, and whoever he wants around him at the time.

Exactly. But Axl is playing both ends of the table. He says it's a band, he says everyone is in it and has been giving their part. On the other hand, people come and go and quit and re-join.

They have to decide, is this a band or is this simply a family of players revolving around the singer?

one thing that the past 18 years have shown is that anyone in this band can be replaced....another weird argument that keeps popping up

Well, if Slash had quit just prior to the release of AFD or the Illusion albums it would been a good argument also, but since the situations are rather different, I do feel that argument falls flat on it's face.

Slash on the other hand quit when GNR did nothing basically. They tried a few things..dropped it..and that was it. GNR was virtually non-existant in those days and they had no imminent release of a comeback album or anything.

Yep, I got what you were saying.

I will prefer Robin too. I want the band that made CD to tour and be the band behind it. Now it's like...half some new guys and Axl.

Doesn't look good to have pics of people not IN the fucking band in the CD booklet.

Slash back? Come on. I know it's Christmas soon and all, but that's truly believing in Santa.

Slash have way to much pride to start playing Chinese Democracy stuff.

However, the chances for Slash returning is now like 2%. It's better than 0% which have been the case since 1998.

So, who will do the parts of Slash that Robin used to do and the parts Robin wrote himself?

It's a big fucking mess.

Rather just leave the slot open and go with Ron and Fortus.

Finck had a specific image and a specific sound. He can't really be replaced. Neither Fortus or Ron does have any charisma on stage compared to Finck or Slash in my opinion.

This band is slowly going into a non-image band, with guys in regular jeans and a shirt on stage. The 2002 version at least had some kind of thing going on with two "alien" guitarists on stage.

Why would I? That is my opinion and I can have that opinion no matter what if you bring in WTTJ, SCOM or whatever. I can bring in Colma or Nottingham Lace or whatever of his solo albums and slam in on the table and say "this shit is better than a fucking SCOM intro written as a joke". I think SCOM is a crappy song and wish they would never bother to play it ever again. That is MY opinion and you bringing that into the discussion doesn't mean much to me. His TWAT solo is in my opinion so much better than any SCOM solo it's not a competition. Did you notice the "in my opinion"?.

You don't have the right to decide anyones opinion and certainly not mine.

That Knocking on heavens door solo or his amazing Nightrain solos was never done better.

That was a review out of nothing. Could have been written in 2001 and just put aside and waited for the release. Pretty fucking bad journalism.

I spoke to Tommy once and the unpleasant remarks about Bucket coming from him was told to a group of GNR fans before one of his solo shows, including me. Mind you, I was the first guy to mention Bumblefoot to him..like..ever, and I take pride in it! He had no idea who he was at the time and told me that he would probably be filled in when he came back to LA. This was 2004.

Anyway, I regret writing that review and including what he said about Bucket, but at the time it didn't really feel to me as there was something he wanted to hide. He was quite clear and spoke more about it than we pushed him to do. I think he, like Robin, did not like him and felt the band worked much better without him. I won't go further into it now, but one of his remarks were quite nasty and went along with the "poo" thing that Bucket liked the smell of. Only this time in his own bucket. tongue

When that's said, Buckethead was the best guitar player GNR have ever had. Too bad he was a bit on the odd side. I think Axl is odd enough for the whole band. Can't have two people like that tongue

Oklahoma is not the working title of Rhiad. It was a misunderstanding at the first Vegas show and people's been thinking it ever since.
