Was there ever a point early on it was supposed to be 1 album?
For starters, I wanted to hear 'Why Do You Look At Me When You Hate Me?'.
Imagine my surprise when hearing Get in the Ring. It was pure cringe.
There's a single disc called Axl's advance copy included with the UYI Q discs. It's mostly finished uyi 1 tracks (demo quality sound) with Get in the Ring and a few others, however Get in the Ring for some reason is an instrumental. Which means it was finished much later than the other tracks.
Also Ain't Goin Down is included. Ain't Goin Down is deff not a demo. Though tbh it would have needed different lyrics not to be b side material.
Didn't someone claim years ago it was supposed to be 4 albums originally? ...Or was it that Axl wanted 4?

PaSnow wrote:I hate these 'album' box sets. It's become a cash grab. Just release a box set for the band as a whole and be done with it. Just look at the Pearl Jam 10 or Nirvana In Utero remixes, they sound pretty much the same. Even In Utero, Steve Albini handed in a muddy album which the label was rumored to have trashed and said 'There's no hits' and it was fully remixed.
What happened, it comes out, and to me, its still pretty similar. UYI would be interesting, but I'm not really interested in hearing many of the songs again, and outside of any legendary remixes or rerecordings, it couldve been morphed into 1 Guns box set.
UYI's an interesting one though, 'cos Slash has alluded to an early version of the album without all of Axl's layered production stuff on top of it. I'd be curious to hear what that sounds like, and that'd cheerfully fill up a disc of material. Plus there's a (slim) chance there could be early demos of stuff like TIL, Fall To Pieces etc from the UYI sessions.
There shouldn't be any copies of that This I Love according to legend, although an earlier version of Speed Demon from Slash's Snakepit (Then known as Nightcrawler) maybe?

#274 Re: The Garden » Anyone use Reddit? » 269 weeks ago
I don't use reddit and the GN'R reddit is a mess. There's a few people that use discord more, but it's a little more unjoined and off topic. The only reason I really frequent discord myself tbh, is for leaks news and there's not much news anyway.
Evo is what it is. I think the opportunity to save Evo was lost years ago. I'll steer away from the issues with The Garden, but in terms of Guns... nothing's happening and it's going to be awhile before there's another tour (repeat). Covid is swinging a sledge hammer at the touring industry and the band are almost in their 60's.
I don't think Evo will still be around in 10 years (with any form of life) even if the band had dropped a new album.

With the touring industry potentially in its death throes and Live Nation making a bunch of changes, we may have seen the last of GNR.
I doubt this the end, but yeah.. that next stadium tour is going to be a while.
NITL regardless of what anyone thinks was one of the 3 most sucessful tours if all time.
If there isn't a new album, it'll be interesting how long this line-up (Axl, Slash and Duff) hold together without it raining cash. Though it's not like an album that sells millions is possible anyway.
On the book, I still think it's a good thing it was pulled or delayed (for himself). I think he would have opened the door to all kinds of accusations against the rest of the uyi line-up and himself by women in those lines.

Anyone got a stadia, what's the quality like?
#277 Re: Guns N' Roses » Matt Sorum's book leaks online. » 271 weeks ago
Matt buries Weiland in the book, but claimed a few years back that they made up before his death. There's nothing in the book about it
Also the times Axl ran into Matt post 90s, not mentioned.
Oh and as an update on the book itself, he said on twitter it'd be out next year recently. Various sections of the music press claimed it was delayed a few months before the leak anyway.
So perhaps, instead of this being blocked... it was decided that there should be re-writes and it be fleshed out a bit more? Just a possiblity.
If he was invested in the project, it would be a good idea to look at the feedback from the leak and see what's missing.

What beef would he have with Duff and Slash?
Read my summary on the first page. It's a series of Slash screwing Matt out off money... for example Axl tells Matt he should get 10% Matt agrees, Slash says no way afterwards.
Matt wants to start a band, basically Snakepitt is his and Slash's idea. He finds out that Slash during a rehersal has changed the name to Slash's snakepitt. They fight a few times including during vr.
Slash wants the Buckcherry singer. After they've jammed for a few months tells Matt he's quiting the band because he doesn't like the singer... matt says they'll get rid off the singer instead, later on he wants rid of the other guitarist from Buckcherry too... leaving Matt in a bad position.
Also during the gn'r days... Axl, Slash and Duff go out for an extra bow which annoys Matt. Complains to Slash who tell them, we get to do thst because we started the band.
Slash also didn't want him at the Rock N Roll hall of fame.
Slash ignored him when he was trying to find out about the reunion ect... ect.
Every few chapters once Slash is introduced... there's something.
As for Duff, there's a few things... but the books final chapter is Matt trying to get Duff to insist on him joining. Duff says I already signed. Suggests Duff said the drummer can't play (Frank). When Matt brings up Izzy, Duff says fuck izzy. There's more.
Sorry, typing on phone.
Other claims include the suggestion that Stephanie felt up Matt in a car while Axl was looking the other way. Thinking Stephanie would fuck everyone in the band if she could. Also Matt had an opportunity to sleep with Elizabeth Taylor (bit of a stretch) at the Freddie tribute show.
Also lots of stories about Lars wanting to know what's going on with Guns. Lars appears more than Izzy, Gilby combined
Worth checking out.

Sure Duff and Matt are talking (this is around 2014, when the reuinon rumors first started), and Matt is asking about generally what's going on. And they are still good friends at this point. Matt just sort of wants clarification--and he wants to be the drummer. I have a tendency to believe Sorum--even if it comes off as self serving a bit.
Oh, this hasn't been mentioned here but the book has been cancelled and will not be published. Oh another part that was kind of funny:
Axl firing Rick Rubin. Here's the passage
I continued to call Duff, but he was constantly evading me, and I realized he wasn’t telling the truth. “Duff, what’s going on?” I said.
“Well, Axl wants to use his drummer,” he said. “But the guy can’t even play the drums. I’ve gotta talk to Axl and say I really can’t play with this guy.”
Wait! Back up!” I said. “What do you mean you don’t think he’s very good? And you can’t fucking tell Axl? That would be the first thing I’d say if I was the bass player and you were the drummer. Why do you think I
asked you to play in the Vampires? Because you’re my favorite bass player.”
“Come on, man.”
“No. . . . Go to Axl and tell him you want me on drums. Period. Now’s the time.”
“Oh, man,” Duff said, his voice kind of shrinking. “I already signed the deal.”Thank you for the detail.
Between the bashing of Slash and Duff it kind of lends to my own theory that Matt thinks there is still a window for him to become a part of the NITL thing. Why would he leave Axl so squeaky clean otherwise?
I don't think so, this has defintely more of a "it ain't happening, so let me burn all the bridges left to cash in" book.
He attacks Axl a few times, but ultimately Axl doesn't feature as much as you might expect. It's really more Slash and Duff stories.
He's pretty hostile to Scott too, doesn't mention anything about Scott passing.
