#2691 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Snoop Dogg and Slash jam at LA charity event » 906 weeks ago

Don't know if you had seen this pic before - I found it over at mygnr.

I must say Slash is certainly getting himself out and about these days.  At times I wonder whether he will damage his brand slightly and lose some of his mystique if he is not more discerning about some of the appearances he chooses to make.

Don't get me wrong I love seeing and hearing him out doing stuff and certainly wouldn't want him to turn into a reclusive hermit like someone else we know, but I still think he needs to be careful what his iconic image is associated with.

haha really? i thought he said

rocket! yeah! See the Light! 14

I never had a damn clue what it was myself either until a mate of mine who is a die hard Def Leppard fan told me one day.  We were talking about the intro to Rocket where the lyrics are backwards when it says "We are fighting the gods of war" - backwards.  Then he told me that other bit of info about the chorus.

#2693 Re: The Garden » Misunderstood Lyrics » 907 weeks ago

There's an Aussie band called Silverchair and they have a song called Greatest View.  This chick I knew used to sing the chorus like this:

"And I love God, the Greatest View..."

But it's actually "And I've got, the Greatest View.."

Another Aussise themed one is a Cold Chisel song Khe San the chorus is:

"Well the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone"

But I hear so many people sing "well the last train..."

Another funny one is the Def Leppard song Rocket.  The part where it goes:

"Rocket YEAH - Sattelite of Love".

Everybody knows the Rocket Yeah bit but hardly anyone ever gets that next bit or even attempts is since it's bloody hard to understand.

#2694 Re: The Garden » Ebay tweaks system » 907 weeks ago

yeah I tend to find that there are quite a few people that buy off me that don't leave any feedback.

I also hate the way the system simply can't stop retalitory feedback.  I have come accross quite often sellers that simply refuse to leave feedback first.  Even though you paid for the item straight away etc, they wont leave it until you do.

I had an example with something I bought where they guy took more than 2 months to send the item.  During that time he is basiclly bullshiting etc, but all but threatened me that if I leave negative feedback he will do the same even though I paid immediately.

So from that side of things this will help if the seller can't simply retaliate because they didn't like you being honest.

#2695 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » VELVET REVOLVER's Australian Tour Going Ahead? » 907 weeks ago

I intentionally haven't booked a flight or bought my ticket yet for VR's Sydney shows because I really thought something like this might happen - and didn't want to be left with a wasted airfare.

I figured I would leave everything until the last possible minute and take my chances that I could still get flights etc.

Personally I don't think the tour down under is gonna go ahead.  Despite the Aussie promotors statement he is obviously in the dark as much as everyone else, so all he can say is effectively that he hasn't been told otherwise so its still going ahead.

#2696 The Sunset Strip » Iron Maiden Concert in Perth Tonight » 907 weeks ago

Ok so I am going to the Iron Maiden concert tonight, but I am not too sure what to expect.  I can't say that I have ever been a big Maiden fan or spent much time listening to their music but I had quite a few mates going along so thought I would get a ticket to check them out.

One of my mates won some "first on the rail" thing where they let 60 people in the venue before anybody else so they can get right on the rail, so I should have a pretty good view (shame it's not GN'R)

Anyone here ever seen them live and have any comments???

Aussie they are suppose to wrap up all dates that are scheduled before scott takes "A leave of absence" for the STP reunion....and i've read a few reviews and it seems that they are doing pretty great shows so far on this leg

If you go to www.velvetrevolver.com and check out the tour section ... they have fan reviews posted big_smile

Cheers for that, I hadn't seen those brief reviews down the side next to the concert dates.  Mind you I virtually never go to that site.  Since I haven't paid for a membership things like the forum etc on there I can't get into.

I also see no reason to pay for a membership to their fan club - they aren't doing a perth date this time.  Plus when they were touring Contraband in Oz they had a Perth date scheduled (I even had my ticket) but they cancelled it.  So I get jack shit out of paying to join their crappy members club.

But that said, if they do make it down here again (which sounds like they will) I'd still like to see em - might be my last chance.  21

So I am assuming that VR is going to honour all existing concert dates?

Are they still coming to Oz this month, last I heard they still were?  I am still thinking about getting a flight to Sydney to catch their 2 shows there (since they aren't playing in fucken Perth), but I really don't wanna outlay the cash unless I'm sure they are coming???

I also wonder what sort of vibe the concert may have when presumably mentally they have probably already broken up as a band, so therefore are just going thru the motions??

i already have this book, it came out late 2007

He puts updates on his blog/website every once in a while about it, supposedly he was just putting the finishing touch to it a few weeks ago.

So unless you're talking about another book, i.e "Reckless Road".

Yeah it came out late last year.  I had a copy but flicked it on ebay after I read it.  It had a different cover with it - it was a black and white photo of Axl with his shirt off.  It was also called WAR.  My understanding was the book in your link is an updated version of that book.

Here is a pic of the first book:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/W-Axl-Rose-Guns- … dZViewItem

The book was ok (I don't have a major problem with Mick Wall), all though there was nothing really ground breaking in there.  It was more of a amalgamation of all the articles and info that is already readily available on the net.  Unfortuantely, i have found all the GN'R books (except for Slash's and the one by Paul Stenning), to be like that.

Gee I must have touched a raw nerve there for ya - feeling a little unappreciated at work lately????

I have no problem at all with assistants - I have a PA at work and a good PA is worth their weight in gold.  If that's all we were talking about - a normal assistants role then that's fine.

We both know that aint the case in this situation, far far from it.
