giving 100% in the shows, being ready for the tours when they start, mixing things up a bit more on the setlists, making an effort to do something (anything) with the CD sessions music, releasing pro-shot DVDs of the new band to sell how good they are as GnR to the public, writing and recording with the new guys in an effort to move forward, etc.  I don't want all of that for me, but I'd respect him a LOT more if he did it.

One thing to note is that the letter is preface with "everyone who's shown support for my decision regarding the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame".

Having said that, I don't think Axl is saying that the general response has been positive given that he's addressing this to those that have shown support specifically.  I think it's more likely that he's saying that there has been a surprisingly strong positive response from those that have been supportive.  At least, that's my interpretation given the "To" line.

well, in general a negative person will complain in the easiest way possible.
someone with an attempt to reach out to axl in this situation may pick up the phone or send an email or message via website, etc. you wouldn't hear about those. the supporters may also go unnoticed because everyone is a hard ass online. having said that, i am sure the overwhelming majority stance is the obvious one.
