I love the tone of Slash' guitar it sounds awesome.
Whilst I think Weiland sounds pretty good on vocals, I agree and would love to have heard an Axl version!

This Ed Rose is the skid mark on the underpants of life! He did the Welcome to the Bumble thing then broke everyones trust and whacked it all over the net, just so he could lube himself up with coconut butter during his fleeting 5 seconds of fame.
Now he is bleating again about some other shit that he is attempting to tie in to GN'R and CD.
If there is anything remotely interesting that is in those files he was uploading feel free to PM me someone and set me straight.
But if, as I suspect, this nutter is just talking out of his rectum again lets not beat around the bush and just say what he is crapping on about and expose the clown for the slapper that he really is!

This guy's a loser, sounds to me like he is trying to promote his dum conspiracy documentary by trying to hitch it to CD when it's got naught to do with it.

That article with Weiland was an interesting read. I thought Duff's following comment about Weiland's insecurity regarding a reunion was interesting:
"I know he [Weiland] was really paranoid about that and we had to allay his fears at one point, when we were writing for [VELVET REVOLVER's second album] 'Libertad'," McKagan responded. "He got wind that our manager at that point had been talking to Axl about bringing Axl over to what was our management company back then. And Scott freaked out that we were getting GN'R back together and we weren't going to make the second record. I don't know where it came from '” there was no contract on the table or pens ready to sign. Maybe now he's convinced himself that's what happened."
The talk back then of brining Axl over to their management company, makes me wonder if Axl had actually appointed Azoff quite sometime ago, but only released the info now as he knew they were going into a long quiet period and thought this would help shut the fans up , by misleading them into thinking something was about to happen.

Ahhh that's what it is!!!!
Fuck me I am killing myself laughing at those pics - that's classic. Why the hell would you make something like that? Those rear end shots
Its a pretty good photo shop then coz the eyes and the goatee make it look exactly like Axl.

more proof that alternate tunings were played with is Robin's rendition of KOHD...he plays it in a drop D tuning...where as Slash played it half step down
That's interesting - I never noticed that. I knew Slash played all his stuff down a half step, but I never picked up on the dropped D tuning for KOHD from Finck.

like your avatar
its funny as all hell but i have always wondered what Axl said when he saw that thing
Cheers - here is a big pic it's funnier when you can blow it up and see it clearly. It's a fucking bizzare Axl sculpture. I came accross the pic on randomly on someone's myspace.
DTJ will probably like it (not just because Axl has his gear off), because he appears to be holding a wolfs head.

i think you guys are misunderstanding things....i read it as he said that they were tuned to a different key than axl wanted to sing in...
for instance standard tuning the top sting of the guitar is an E note...a half step down is E Flat...that is what all the old GnR songs are tuned to....or maybe Robin had it way down a full step so the top string had become an "F" or there could have been alternate tunings...Open G or Drop D...etc etc...maybe Axl liked the idea of a certain chord structure or riff but wanted it redone in a different tuning...it doestn mean the guitars were "out of tune"
if any of that makes any sense

but as instrumental songs and vocal melodies were meshed its quite conceivable to rework things
I think you have probably hit the nail on the head. Although surely you would have worked this shit out after only one or two sessions. You wouldn't get to the point where you have recorded all his guitar parts only to then discover it should have been say tuned down half a step or something, because it didnt' sound right with everything else or fit with the key Axl was trying to sing in etc.

Sounds to me like the CD recording sessions boiled down to one giant clusterfuck.
Like I mentioned in a different thread, this whole saga was likely not nearly as ambitious as we had been led to believe. Instead of some masterpiece being created over a decade, the sessions were spotty, erratic at best, and would certainly explain the cycle of band member departures. Finck's gone now, and apparently there were "tuning issues"?
They should have sorted out those issues back in 1999.
That's very true - due to the rumoured dollars spent and the extraordinary amount of time this has been "in the making", you get a perception that it is some kind of masterpiece, that they're effectively reinventing the wheel in there. There has been no expense spared and the best minds in the business are working on it, a studio setup that would look at home in a NASA control room, a room full of engineers and producers in the studio with white jackets and clipboards etc etc.
But the reality is probably more like a few guys sitting around on milk crates jamming every now and then - with a neighbour from over the fence operating the mixing desk most of the time etc etc.
James, clusterfuck does seem to be the most appropriate adjective to described the whole journey.
