We had been listening to most of the songs for a decade at that point...the earlier leaks were superior to the album, and the songs were cut and paste hell.
Chinese Democracy is not a pleasurable listening experience.
Exactly. Add the messed up lyric booklet, lack of promised alternate covers, and sloppy mastering of “Catcher” and it adds up to a major letdown.

So after being lazy I finally got around to buying The Rolling Stones’ Blue & Lonesome album.
Holy shit, is it good.
12 songs recorded in three days. It’s rough and rowdy in the best ways. Mick’s voice and harmonica sometimes overload the microphone but it’s just a reflection of him getting caught up in the vibe.
Charlie combines that light jazz touch he was loved for with some booming bass drums. Jesus Christ, just listen to this and remember these are guys in their mid to late 70s:

Why the hell can’t GNR do the same thing? Embrace the Lies acoustic aesthetic and just jam. Don’t worry about topping what you last did. Stop trying to be perfect and just be cool.

If I could only have one more song from GNR.....it's Oklahoma.
Depending on what Axl brought to the table lyrically/vocally, it's potentially the best song from the Chinese sessions.
If that second disc ever leaks....it's done. Like you said, they don't even have to release it at that point. While it would be great if they did...the hardcore base who followed the saga for 20 years deserves to hear it.
It should've leaked in 2008.
I agree with all of this. Since “Oklahoma” is said to be where he poured out his feelings about the court case, one of the most significant events in his life, it promises to be a monster.
To hear that, and whatever other vocals are done, will definitely close the book on the ChiDem era and — let’s face it — Gn’R as a creative entity.
I searched for the Disc 2 track list that MSL shared and could not find it. Anyone have it?

I have them in an ‘enhanced’ version by that guy who’s amazing at doing that with GnR stuff.
I was thinking along the same lines: If we can get the tracks in lossless FLAC or similar quality they can be remastered.
Might be worth a crowdfunding effort! ?

Following the release of ChiDem, once we realized we weren’t getting any non-LP b-sides on singles, the most exciting events to my mind are:
The Bumble/DJ-era outtakes and remixes thanks to MSL
The initial hope created by the “reunion” (Even now, the eternal question remains: “Where’s Izzy?”)
The storage locker outtakes.
15 years after the last album dropped, most of my happiest memories have come via other fans rather than GNR itself. The “Hard Skool”/“Absurd” single disappointed me compared to the original arrangements.
If the record labels won’t release more outtakes, why not offer CDs for sale via the website or as fan club annual incentives? For a disc of unbastardized, original demos I would happily join.
I know. I know. We are left playing fantasy football and going “What if” scenarios at this point.

Hell... his vocals have been finished since before Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Adele even had careers. Thats how much time has transpired here.
The horror … the horror.

Big news. Check your in box.
The title: “Moms Love GN’R”
It includes “GN’R Gift Ideas for Mom” as well as “Mom-Approved GN’R Accessories.”
Which apparently includes a 1:24 scale die-cast race car because all mothers approve of and look forward to that sort of thing.
Feel free to blaspheme under your breath. I sure did.

Can they at least plan something for Record Store Day?
Meanwhile I recently picked up recent box sets for Clapton, Yes, Sabbath, and The Beatles. Listening to the same GNR tunes over and over gets old. I am expanding my horizons. All of these artists, which are historically important and arguably had a bigger impact on the overall history of rock, managed to invest some real effort in preserving and sharing their legacies. I sure wish GNR tried as hard.
