The Thursday night games are total trash at this point.  The Bears suck and may need to find another qb again.  Fields missed open guys and it had nothing to do with the OL or WR quality (they did drop passes though).

Nothing ever beats the Ritz 88 for me though.

It should've been included in the AFD box set.

It's almost as iconic as the album itself.

Generation X grew up on this performance... running home after school knowing MTV would play the entire concert. It stayed in heavy rotation for quite awhile...and of course two years later they cherry picked songs and turned them into videos...KOHD the big one.

In the 90s it was one of the main bootlegs sold...under different titles.

Remember in 1988 when Jungle hit it big (could have been SCOM as well) and they started playing this thing on weekends at night?  It seemed like they show that show a bunch of times.  Which was sort of unheard for a new band.  I mean they usually wait a while then they have the hot band do a live performance.  This one was sort of concurrent.

Also, I remember It's so Easy being a co-big one from that show.

RIP

Another piece of my childhood gone...sigh.  I have no idea how many times I watched the show (not that many times).  This is what I remember...Immediately following the game...60 minutes followed by Murder She Wrote.

I always remember the play by play guy who was doing whatever sports event I watched on CBS mutter that line.

Lansbury was great as the villaness in the 1960s version of the Manchurian Candidate (the one with Sinatra) and some 40s thriller called Gaslight.

I hate to tell CNN this but left or right if people don't watch your network,  it doesn't matter.  I don't watch much cable news at all.  I'm just assuming that whatever personalities they have on seem to be repelling people for whatever reason.

The Silverstone one is almost as weird.  Her kid is 11 and she still sleeps with him.  Oh, and she also takes baths with him.  What kid takes baths with their mom at 11 years old?

Hannibal -  first time watching this in 20 years. This is a complete clusterfuck. It never should've been made...or in the least it needed a massive rewrite. Funny how it did get a bunch of rewrites yet this is what came out of it  Yikes.

Not surprising that Foster turned it down. The book coming out with Starling and Hannibal becoming lovers guaranteed Foster would never go near this story again.

Moore tries giving it her all but her Clarice is too abrasive and bitchy. It takes me out of the story and just reminds you of Fosters killer performance in Lambs. Another issue is Hopkins is clearly having too much fun as Lecter.

Best thing about this film is Gary Oldman as Mason Verger...a handicapped and disfigured child rapist who has a grudge against Lecter.

They probably should've had this film revolve around both Verger and Lecter and not even included Clarice. Save the Clarice story for a few years later and maybe by then they could've come up with a better story that Foster would've found acceptable.

This is just a mainstream summer film masquerading as a Hannibal film.  Aside from Silence of the Lambs, and Manhunter most of the films in the series range from dreadful to average.

It's october so it's scary movie season so...

Alone in the Dark...whoa, how come I've never heard of this one.  1980s horror flick involving Jack Palance, Martin Landau, and Donald Pleasance.  It deals with mental patients/illnesses and morphs into a home invasion flick.  Not bad at all.

Stir Of Echoes.  Kevin Bacon late 90s film.  The horror/scary stuff is done pretty well.  It turns into a procedural in the second half and loses steam because it becomes predictable.  Still Bacon, and Kathyrn Erbe from Law and Order CI give good performances.  I really wish they 'd focus more on the psychic/supernatural aspects as those parts were the most interesting.

10 to Midnight.  I want to love this but I can't.  It's an 80s Charles Bronson revenge/slasher flick.  It's pretty well made.  But parts of it just come off fucking cheesy, like a tv movie.  It just totally takes me out of it.  I don't care for the actor playing the main villian either.  It's not awful or anything.  Just not as great as some people seem to think it is.

Has any other military incursion/hostility gone this bad within the last 50 years or so?  I'm not an expert on US-Vietman , so that one I'm not sure about.

But Russia's attempted takeover of Ukraine will almost certainly lead to Putin leaving office in some form or another.

#258 Re: The Sunset Strip » Most Recent Movie You've Seen » 143 weeks ago

The First Power...Lou Diamond Phillips horror/supernatural film.  This isn't bad, actually kind of fun.  This is really similar or close to the Hidden which came out in 1987 and starred Kyle Machlahan.  There's one plotline that involves religion that kind of falls flat for me.  This was released in 1990 and is in obvious B movie territory.  Which made me kind of wonder:  Was Phillips ever considered an A lister?  I remember La Bamba and I think he did Young Guns afterward but he fell off or into B movie territory, I think.

#259 Re: Guns N' Roses » SOG single coming? » 143 weeks ago

Yeah, you really don't get ANYTHING with this band.  Even touring bands, release unheard material (demos, archival shit etc), ditto with the bands who have major members who have died.  These guys can't even handle anniversary editions of their landmark albums correctly.

Not to mention their stance on the fanbase.  Those other bands give you something in terms of being a hardcore/longtime fan.  They reward you for your loyalty and appreciate it by tossing you some extra whatevers.

2006 was definitely more interesting/positive only because you had the prospect of a new music release.

That stuff is just awful.  I mean why bother wasting time to create something, if the money men are just going to pull out at the last minute.  I didn't care about the Batgirl thing but I did feel it should have been released because there was a fanbase that liked it or wanted it.
