Packging was the thing where you got ripped off the most when CD's took over. I agree there is something nice about the massive artwork and innersleeve that comes with LP's. Plus that "warmth" that you get with the sound, as James said is impossible to replicate.
I love my vinyl collection, bring this trend on I say.

I bet Ron Jeremy was heart broke about the dressing room incident. Ron has been a big fan and has been to a ton of GN'R shows. It's not like he was a casual fan. I can understand why Axl would be mad about it though too. The dressing room is a private place and you don't just want people dropping in uninvited.
Maybe he thought Ron might have been some "large" competiton for the groupies.

Baz is like an exitable puppy dog, he's no doubt a good companion to Axl when he needs someone to lighten things up a bit, he gives him unconditional love and he is always trying to please his master.
It's actually a bit refreshing knowing that Baz still lets his mouth run faster than his little brain can keep up. At least he just blurts out and tells Axl whatever he is thinking, I think Axl could use a few more people with such brutal honesty around him.
#2564 Re: Guns N' Roses » Song #2 (Unknown Title) » 888 weeks ago
It definitely took balls for him to question publicly the quality of these tracks. Hopefully received a tongue lashing from Axl for doing so since no one else was ever allowed to do that. I don't have a problem with what Huge is doing on these tracks, and hopefully Axl doesn't either.
BH didn't need a replacement. All Axl has to do is call him when CD is ready to launch. Let BBF do the AFD jerkoff tours until the real showtime begins.
I really like how the fanbase is now once again wanting him back. We know Axl reads the various sites, and he's gotta be questioning the potential of the current lineup.
He hit a grand slam in 2001. Why would he want a strikeout in 2008??
Makes no sense. Bucket will eventually be back. One way or the other. The BH buzz is widening at the sites. People can no longer criticize him because he's obviously the composer of some of these tracks. Criticize Bucket, you're criticizing GNR.
Love seeing the BH haters backpedal....
Back around 2001 one I was never a real fan of BH. Probably because he was filling the shoes of the top hatted one and it didn't sit well with me. Plus the whole image of him I struggled to deal with (still do). I tried to be positive about GN'R but I copped a lot of shit from mates about Axl's new band of misfits and that mute with the KFC bucket, mask and Nun Chakas.
But, only more recently (probably post the MSL leaks) I have really started to appreciate BH's work. I have burnt the latest leaks again onto CD so I can listen to them in the car. I was driving around on the weekend and after listening to the new 3 songs (or 2 really) quite a bit, I found myself going back to TWAT and just loving that last solo of BH's inparticular and wanting more of the same. I really want to hear some more epic guitar work, but this "song #2" aside from the lyrics just seems a mess of sounds and very non-descript to me. I'll keep listening but it really hasn't grabbed me yet.
Perhaps the ideal situation for Axl may be if he has BH all over the cd itself but takes the current lineup (which is visually more likely to be acceptable to a wider audience and less likely to be ridiculed) on tour to support the record.
#2565 Re: Guns N' Roses » Questions about the leaks. » 888 weeks ago
Perhaps this direct source that Johnny Firecloud supposedly got these leaks from is somone at or close to the record company (or maybe even Azoff). It may have been a tactic to try and force Axl's hand by making him shit himself that the whole damn lot could leak any day.
That Johnny Firecloud also said he heard Prostitute about 3 or 4 months ago from the same source as these leaks.
#2566 Re: The Sunset Strip » Report: New AC/DC Album To Be Wal-Mart Exclusive » 889 weeks ago
I believe Azoff was responsible for the Eagles doing the exclusive deal through Walmart, I wouldn't be surprised if he was pushing a similar thing with CD - he's probably a one trick pony.
#2567 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Slash Working on Solo Album, Not Waiting on Velvet Revolver » 889 weeks ago
I know I shouldn't probably shouldn't say this since Axl is the complete opposite end of the spectrum and takes an eternity to release anything but I'm concerned if Slash is trying to rush out his solo album before VR find a singer.
Personally I wish the guy would take a bit more time which hopefully will translate into a better quality record. The guy has so much talent but through VR and Snakepit I personally only think we have seen brief glimpses of it. Why the hurry? They didn't listen to Rick Rubin on the last VR album when he told them to keep writing and with hindsight I think they should have.
IMHO he should really take his time to do this right and make it the proper showcase of his talent that it should be. Not just a bashed out record done in 5 mins so he can tick that solo record box off on his resume.
#2568 Re: Guns N' Roses » Let the reunion rumors roll... » 889 weeks ago
I'll be shocked if Steven's involved at all and I don't think Izzy would be in it full time. Either way, I predic that by the end of July a reformed "classic GNR" will be announced.
I think it needs Steven, yeah I know he's fucked up beyond belief, but if there is anyway that he may be able to get thru some gigs or a tour, then I believe they would take him. Yeah I know he's just the drummer, but there is something special about "the original 5". Obviously Sorum would fill in at the drop of a hat so the backup plan is there if it went off the rails. Who knows maybe they would even work out a dual role where they alternate between shows??
Personally I would like to see Adler in the lineup. More and more over time I have begun to really think Sorum is a dick. Maybe they could get Adler to play each night and just invite Matt along on the tour bus/plane with them so he can continue to bang groupies since that seems to be all he lives for these days.
I believe Izzy would be there no problems. Whether he would hang around for long or "god forbid write some new tunes with them", I would imagine would depend on how much of a de ja vu experience the whole thing brought him - and I mean that in a negative way. I really hope if a reunion happens he's there, even better if they can get him to put his mind and talents towards writing some new material.
Ok I will stop dreaming now, back to reality...
#2569 Re: Guns N' Roses » What is all this about and is it legit? » 889 weeks ago
Didnt Azoff say he would only manage gnr if it was the original line up
Not sure - it wouldn't surprise me. It seems to be an area where he has some experience - Van Halen & The Eagles come to mind.
A cynic would also look at how his company or previous company (somone in his stable) managed VR and apparently continues to manage Scott Weiland. Scott was conveniently steered down the STP reunion track, so that cleared the way on one side of the equation (remember we don't know exactly how long he has been managing Axl/GN'R it could have been months before the official announcement).
Azoff's now only needs to clear the decks of CD one way or the other to bring Axl back to reality. Then he can go to work on the reunion.
I would bet anything that is his underlying agenda!

No offense to Incognito/BBA. He's just trying to get songs, but in 2008 this type of thing reeks of desperation on the part of the fans and also shows how incredibly lame this whole situation has become.
Azoff, you're doing an outstanding job!
All Azoff does these days is make phone calls and day dream about what he'll do with the money when he gets the reunion accomplished.
I believe the only reason Azoff decided to get on this train wreck is to get to the end game of a reunion.
