In case you haven't heard, the government was supposed to shut down March 1st, but they got an extension to March 18th to approve the a budget.
I work for the government as a civilian. We just got a call yesterday from our big bosses canceling a bunch of stuff we had planned because "there's a good chance the government is going to shut down and all funding is frozen right now."
This is crazy stuff.

TMZ.com is reporting that former/founding Alice In Chains bassist Mike Starr is dead. I don’t even know what to say, what a tragedy. GrungeReport.net sends its condolences to Mike’s family during this terrible time. Hopefully Layne and Mike are together now, rocking out in the sky. Terrible news, I’ve been following Mike’s path to try and get clean since I opened GrungeReport 2 years ago so it makes it even sadder after rooting for him so hard to get clean. From TMZ:
Starr appeared on the third season of “Celebrity Rehab” back in 2009 — and was arrested last month for felony possession of a controlled substance. Salt Lake City cops say he had 6 Xanax pills and 6 Opana (painkiller) pills when he was busted.
Starr was 44 years old.
Mike’s dad tells TMZ, “It’s a terrible shock and tragedy.”
UPDATE: Police tell us Starr’s body was found in a Salt Lake City home today. Cops say they were called to the house at 1:42PM.

It works because it's taking attention away from her actual talent level, which isn't very high. She's not "stealing" from anybody, she's using every cookie-cutter music format out there to make marginally okay songs. Then she gets attention for her antics and appearance while she's marketed at a high level. That isn't talent, that's manufactured bullshit. There's no difference between her and Miley Cyrus.
There's a large difference between her and Miley Cyrus. For one, Lady Gaga can actually sing and write her own songs. Miley Cyrus is a fucking joke.

Billboard.com has a new interview up with Soundgarden/Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron about Soundgarden’s new album, here’s are a few excerpts from the interview:
Drummer Matt Cameron tells Billboard.com that “there’s a little bit of evolution going on with some of this new music, but we’re not straying too far from the formula. It has all our signature elements — and more. I think people are going to really love it.”
The writing session generated 12-14 songs that Cameron says “are kind of ready to go,” but he also expects that “once we get into a studio environment, we’ll come up with new ideas and rearrange what we have.” The existing songs, he says, are “about 90 percent new,” but some draw on ideas that date as far back as 1996′s “Down on the Upside,” as well as some riffs he wrote around 2008. “We’ve tried to update the super-old stuff,” he says. “It doesn’t sound too old and dusty and crusty to my ears — but maybe to someone else it will. I think guitar-based music is not really as popular as it has been in the past, so it might sound kind of out of date or out of tune with what’s going on right now. Or it might be a breath of fresh air to have an unabashedly loud guitar band out there.”

Also love all the vaginal imagery in her music video for the song. Lady Gaga is kinda hot.

Bought this on iTunes and have been listening to it all day. This song is amazing.
I would like to hear more from the man himself though. The song's mostly Eminem.

Great news that he's not remaking the Blob. That would have certainly buried him as a director.
Hopefully this movie is along the lines of The Devil's Rejects, only much darker.
I like the idea of him doing a biker film and a western.
