#241 Re: Guns N' Roses » Will GNR release new music in 2021? » 252 weeks ago
I'm going to kick myself for this. They've effectively been shadow dropping singles now with no notice and also saying virtually nothing after they do.... a shadow drop of an entire album/EP to be followed with a physical release for fans to buy later is possible.
It lines up with how they've done things with these two singles and isn't unheard of these days. Other much more mainstream artists have done the unannounced album release to streaming platforms online with a physical sale beginning weeks/months later. That way they get to release the thing themselves without a leak of the physical media ruining the launch.
Fuck, now my hopes are up again and I think that's what they might actually be doing. Guess we'll know by end of the year.

WTF is there a radio edit of a 3-and-a-half-minute song. That is like the optimal length of a song. Lemme guess, they edited out part of the spacy-mellow breakdown?
Nah, micro chops across the whole song. Intro, verse, after chorus licks, bridge section etc.

He also genuinely has sources and may know a thing or two. He's been tight with the band's camp at numerous points.

If there was a press release, we would have read the press release. All these articles are regurgitating each other and their original sources are forums.
As James said, they need a physical release or an announcement. It gives something to talk about. It allows DJs on radio to talk about something as they cue up the song. If they do and say nothing this drops off the face of the Earth in two weeks... and it just begs the question of why bother releasing it?

Radio play would help give the songs some legs. Especially if there is more to come. Has it been sent to radio? It would be foolish not too.
Apparently it has. Still, it would do better if they had something to talk about when they introduced it.

It's a different world now. Back in the day a single could hang around for weeks or months. Not anymore.
Back in the day things like videos on MTV and radio mattering more kept them hanging around for weeks or months. Publicity, touring, actually talking about your stuff also helped keep things around.
They need to actually speak.

Nando killed the EP rumour dead on Reddit. Thank god.

There will be no promo blitz behind it.
Singles don't really get promo blitz, they're part of promoting something else. This tour is basically done... if they don't say anything what the fuck is this promoting?
#250 Re: Guns N' Roses » GN'R 2021 Tour Thread » 252 weeks ago
Not even a mention on the official website. Just some Twitter and Instagram posts where literally all the say is "Hardskool is f'n here". And that's it. That's all the info that is released.
Bizarre. If they do and say nothing over the next week, if there are no more dates this year and there is no bigger release to promote this side of Christmas... wtf are they doing? Like I'm glad they released it but from the point of view of maximising impact, publicity and any sort of return it's a total waste.
We'll see but I think this it for a while and radio silence from this band will continue.
