yeah, if we take into consideration that Axl will be doing the final compositions and being the "collage" artist at the end....sure, the band members' availability may not be crucial at the moment...
but history tells us a different story....no matter how good his relations are with his guys, the minute one of them "deflects" to someone else....he throws a tantrum of sorts...
the question is...do we see Robin's move as a "deflection"....or "killing time"....?
I see it as a "deflection"....which leads me to believe that we're fucked....
the more time i spend on the boards the more my original opinion that the band doesn't owe us anything deflates. i also no longer believe the 'old when ther is news he will update us. this is bullshit. anything can be news and can be updated. the fact that album is done has never officailly been communicated to us anyways. there is no excuse for not putting on the webste "album is finished, working with so and so to figure out a promo, hope to have it out by late '09 after so and so has finished touring." if it hadn't been prmoised multiple times i would say they owe us nothing but that isn't the case. they know we are stressing this and they do not seem to care. if they are pissed too we understand but atleast tell us what is going. i would be fine if they said there will be a delay because of this and that atleast we would know. it's not like the delays ever dissappear when they don't tell us when and why.

i so want to agree with you on this one....but the realist in me reckons that the album is "done" the same way it was in 2002, 2006 and 2007....and wasn't really handed in to the label...well, not in its final format at least...a few sample copies were sent for comments....but not the final master...
and the most patient person in the gnr saga....Mr Robin himself....has had enough of waiting...
if he decided to do a stint with Cirque du Soleil....or even a solo album....then it would be more comforting...
but NIN is whats making me feel all uncomfortable....
as much as i hate to say this....i think we're in for another very long period of silence, after which we will be introduced to another new band member....whose presence still needs to be felt on the album somehow....so we'll go back into the studio....
did beta, del james, and bandmembers all come out and say the album was done those times?
i am not being a smart ass - i do not know, i am fairly new to the forums/news/rumor thing.

I agree with Pasnow and War....I don't think anyone is under contract now. The recording is done and there are no tour plans. Axl isn't going to pay 8 people for absolutely nothing. I believe Richard in the past once alluded to the fact that the touring money was separate from the studio contract. Either way, I highly doubt anyone is getting paid by "Gnr" right now.
except a pretty penny to the manegement team which is balancing out the concerns form me a little.

I am really starting to think Robin's contract was a salary for "studio time" only and an additional contract created for the 06 & 07 tour. With the album finished, and Axl taking his time with putting it out & holding it up with the label, Robin was left off payroll (not that he was struggling to make ends meet, just no contract or income). Trent offered him a tour with NIN, so he accepted it, figuring the album is done, he's on it, who knows if & when it'll ever get released but he did his part.
i agree and have been saying that frrom the get go. i also do not believe he has been quitting gnr and NIN over and over again the whole time. this is his job - he is a hired gun and a hired nail. del said only robin knows what is going on with him because he is not under contract right now. i don't think robin has been in regular contact with axl since the tour ended. robin agreed to take the nin gig when nothing was going on in gnr - no mangement, no release date, etc. i think this is less personal than a lot of us want to think. axl is probably sitting in his chair thinking i wish i would have gotten the ball rolling two months go - robin could have toured with us in early '09, guess i'll have to do it without him, in which case it is time for bucket. or he is thinking the opposite, this is too bad - we'll have to put off the release til late to mid '09 then so robin can tour with us.

If he's recording and touring with NIN, then I'd say his tenure has just begun (again).
that's my point. he leaves gnr for NIN. then leaves NIN for gnr, then repeats the process, etc. it's what he does.

it would work and so i beleive that it has been thought of and maybe offered and i would watch it, you can bet that much. remember how everyone was going nuts when that documentary clip came out of the band. the one where axl is walking down the hallway and bumblefoot came out as axl was walking into the dress room and he walked right by him without saying hello and security jumped in like he was gonna attack axl or something.
i don't see axl agreeing to do it either.

i enjoyed the show myself and would go see thenm again album or not. i knew there was no album when i bought the ticket. if you haven't seen them live you are missing out.
i do agree that this album drama is past ridiculous. if anyone involved wants more than the other is offering of anything and that is why this is taking forever, i say bight the bullet and release cd. then record the second and/or third album that you supposedly have all this material for and do so in normal fashion and then make your demands for those. they may already have a deal for three album as rumored so i could be stupid for saying so and assuming that they haven't thought of it. i'm sure they have but c'mon this isn't this difficult for any other band. if they do have a three album deal or are trying to change it, stop being so frugal and restructure it so the first album can come out and make your money of the next two.

And I'm sorry if I came across as an ass...
No no, my post could be interpreted the wrong way.
I like you people, you seem to be rather smart and you actually agree with what I say a few times.
are you two done making out yet?
