i agree and have grown tired of people always calling certain prformers "sellouts". either you like their work or not, right? maybe metllica "sold out" when they did the black album but they got their music to the masses and made a lot of money for their hard work. rather than ranting and raving around town about them "selling out" i simply did not buy the album cause i didn't like it.

Neemo wrote:I would say Axl needs Slash more at the moment than Slash needs Axl...Slash has a very large resume...Axls is limited to what it was 15 years ago...minus End of Days ST and Baz's album...
there is no way i could list all that Slash has done since he left GnR....whether or not you like it isnt the point...the point is that he has remained active and relevant while Axl went into hiding...you cant fault him for doing what he does...and dont pull the quality of quantity bullshit...because the quality of nothing is Zero
I agree with you Neemo. Axl definitely needs Slash more and you're also right about Slash has always stayed active.
one persons sets his standards low and the other sets them higher than he can reach. axl doesn't need slash - gnr needs slash. axl needs to release his album.
if chinese democracy is released and the new gnr fails worse than velvet revolver than you could be right but even then, it would probably be due to reasons other than the guitar riffs on the album.
in the mean time axl does not need slash nor does slash not being in the band have anything to do with axl doing less than slash. new music from axl taking foever is the result of axl being axl.

another e-mail: when asked how reliable his source of the digital release rumor was:
"Fairly. I have friends at the label. I'd hold it until I have a chance to talk to someone today.
I'll look into finding the source of the newest alleged leak. Normally, I get them. I have a few tracks. Some of which may, or may not have already leaked. i have I think 2, or 3 versions of IRS, and Catcher in the Rye. 3 versions of Better. I'd have to check on the others"
nothing new there about the leaks
#2254 Re: Guns N' Roses » Kansas City radio station just played IRS... » 895 weeks ago
I e-mailed the only Kansas City Rock Radio Station i could find on google, 98.9 The Rock and asked if they were playing IRS. the first guy told me to talk to neanderpaul so when i, in turn, e-mailed neanderpaul here is what he said.
"Not recently.
I have played new GnR several times but have received legal orders to stop doing so."
so either i have the wrong station or this is false info. and as perviously stated, it's probably an old version anyways.
apparently he is bored cause he keep s e-mailing me back.
"There's been no release from anyone on the label side. Nor, are they even suggesting it would be.
Rumor has it, a download-per-song digital delivery will be the preferred method of release as it would defer the already stupid-high costs for this CD. Any way the label doesn't have to produce a hard product would save them cash.
I'll be sure to let you know if/when I receive more stuff as I have a pipeline to materials."

most excellent
#2256 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Weiland on the howard stern show » 895 weeks ago
i agree with mikka mostly
i don't know if it would be a good fit for reasons relating to chemistry cause noone can fortell that but, musically speaking, vr/cornell could possibly work.
if you are talking about attitutde. the reasons given for it not to work would also mean that axl wouldn't work with vr - which, obviously it did for three huge albums. if slash and the boys can play with axl they can play with cornell.
axl and cornell, although different the way they sing and write lyrics, are both very serious with the way they approach their art and are two of the greatest rock singers of our time.
if you are talking technique. based on released material slash could outplay kim thayil any day of the week and if anything, the band's tempo would need to drop to accomidate cornell's laid back vocal style.
just because you cannot picture it happening does not mean that it wouldn't work.
#2257 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR issue statement about Robin » 896 weeks ago
it's kinda both
he cannot hit the high notes with the full tone that he used to
so the upper parts sound less full and higher when they aren't any higher at all, just missing some lower depth
this is why he sounded helium like in '02, combined with the no rasp approach.
'02 seemed to be an experimental period for him that didn't pan out
he has clearly matured as a vocalist over the years and although the voice does drop with age he seems to still have the range and is even now challenging it further with these new songs
#2258 Re: Guns N' Roses » What exactly is Axl's Vision » 896 weeks ago
yes he has a vision - i think people wanna say he has no master plan which is probably true.
but he has a vision
monkey chow said it well - he has less talent around him.
but my statement would be more like, he has less chemistry around him because more than enough talent has walked through those revolving doors necessary to put out a better than average rock album in less than half the amount of time it has taken so far.
there is the band and then there is axl. and that is why there is no chemistry.
some say these guys aren't in the band but actually axl is not in the band.
the band does their thing and axl is nowhere around, studio and jam space.
he did not start this with original gnr until later in the run and that is when they had the same problems.
kinda like what james said but with my own spin: all of these leaked songs are either great or have the potential to be great but due to the "copy and paste" approach this group has taken due to the revolving door of musicians they are either taking too long to finish or are not getting finished properly. or atleast we are left to asume that is what is happening. to have a diverse and great album with lots of musicians involved the songs would have to be completed before all involved left. my guess is there are several fantastic tunes sitting around neeeding the players on that song to add those minute but extremely important details to it. this can't happen if they are gone.
i disagree that ron not knowing the gnr catalouge make him less qualified, assuming he was hired to be in the band permanently. he is less restrained as an artist if he can hear the new band and open his mind and play along.
axl has chosen the hard and long road but he has a vision and will achieve it.
