The reunion speak does seem to have picked up, although I haven't seen anything significant that suggests things have changed. There are some minor things like old pics of Slash being posted on the GNR Facebook feed I think, plus didn't Del say or post something positive about Slash?

Minor shit really.

I guess with the end of the last tour cycle, Ron leaving and apparently the rest of the guys sacked (or you could argue probably just not being paid a retainer until it's time to tour again or something similar and less dramatic), the vacuum of info/communication gets filled with reunion rumours.

#202 Re: Guns N' Roses » Why Slash's fans can't stop talking about the "cancer" » 528 weeks ago

Even worse timing given Slash's mum Ola just passed away after a battle with cancer too around that time.

At what point does an adult like Axl move on from the past and let go, be gracious and release some of that hatred.  Forgiving or at least at a minimum simply letting it go is not for Slash's benefit but for his - Axl's.

At the end of the day from what I can tell it was an argument/feud between two extremely talented muso friends. BUT it's so fucken insignificant in the scheme of life, certainly not worth letting it influence and dictate your life for years after??? Shame.

At this point, we can only speculate. On the solo album, the dealmaker could be that he'd get away with it without singing, and could release just about anything without the need for it to be decidedly Guns material.

He could do this but then you would have to question his motivation for releasing new material (i.e. "old" new material).  If he did it without then touring/supporting it in some capacity then it's almost pointless, since he is unlikely to make anything via album sales.

Only way I see him releasing something is if he wants to tour again for some more cash with some hired Guns.  Releasing some new stuff might be a way to make it appear "fresh" and give some people a reason to come out and see him again in the hope of hearing and seeing something new.  Although I think even those people are pretty thin on the ground these days.

Faldor that would be great if you can get that episode off your DVR at some point.

Yeah that's the first time I have ever seen his dad and heard him speak.

I suspected this was different to the other special they did as I heard Adler was also in that other one. Shame that one hasn't surfaced at all even though it's quite a few months since it came out.

Good watch, cheers for posting.

Is this that "Raised on the Sunset Strip" special they did a number of months ago or another one?

#207 Re: Guns N' Roses » Doug Goldstein Letter to Axl » 533 weeks ago

I see Niven was co-host on Mitch Lafon's latest podcast.  He briefly addressed a couple of things re the recent Goldstein interview near the end of the podcast.  Starts around the 1 hour mark for a couple of minutes.

Doug is actually pretty funny when he speaks, he seems to ramble and actually do his cause harm rather than good.  I don't think Axl will be calling him to be the "manager to reunite-em" any time soon.

Did Slash play with Space Ghost after MJ? 16

According to wiki the first child sex allegations came out against MJ in 1993. So I'm not sure how that fits with Doug's timeline of Axl being pissed with Slash in 1991 for playing with MJ. Was Axl psychic that in 2 years time MJ was going to be accused?

But Slash's number one flaw he still has is he records a bit too much material imo. The last three solo albums could've been mulled into 12-track best of's, and cut the fat. Some songs are great (a few), while others smack of Slash's entire career post-Guns... not great, not awful, just kinda there. And World On Fire is no exception.

Yeah I agree with this.  I think (and I'm sure Slash has even said this), he likes the touring/playing aspect of the whole "album/tour" cycle.  Seems to me the album aspect is a necessary chore for him to complete so he can get back out on the road again and play live.  Consequently rather than sit in the studio and keep working away coming up with new/better ideas, I think he settles for some average filler just to get the album completed and hit the road again.

He needs an "Axl" telling him something isn't good enough or it needs more work.   Just like Axl needs someone pulling him up from tinkering with something ad infinitum.  They are the ying and yang.
