You do realize I gave you karma for the creative Q & A you wrote?

What I said was more of a general statement regarding his unique appeal.

Didn't mean it to sound directed in a negative way towards you.

Ah, okay. It's been a long weekend, didn't mean to snap at you.

If Buckethead doesn't come back, this is going to be bizarre when the song is promoted.

Blabbermouth: Welcome Bumblefoot! We're ecstatic that Guns N Roses are back, and there's no better way than reclaiming the throne by the first new song being on this Rock Band game flying off the shelves. The song is amazing! How do you guys do it?

Bumblefoot: I don't know.I'm not on it.

This is the kind of questions these guys are gonna get.

'Course, if Buckethead was interviewed, the exchange would go something like this:

Blabbermouth: Welcome Buckethead! We're ecstatic that Guns N Roses are back, and there's no better way than reclaiming the throne by the first new song being on this Rock Band game flying off the shelves. The song is amazing! How do you guys do it?

Buckethead (thrusts Herbie puppet into interviewer's face): He just... thinks of chickens and it makes him play pretty. This slice... was when they brought a bucket of fried chicken into his coop and he tried to put the chicken back together and it made him sad. So he put the bucket on his head and just... played sad songs.

Blabbermouth: Uh, okay. What's the deal with the bestiality porn?

Buckethead: Girls make Buckethead feel funny. He doesn't like the feeling, so he watches the animals and listens to the noises they make and tries to make them on his guitar.

Guess who had the biggest buzz at the 2002 VMAs?

answer: it wasn't Fortus

Guess who was in the most pictures in GNR mentions in magazines(Blender, Stuff, etc.)  during the 2002-05 silent years?

answer: It wasn't Axl.

I think you know where this is leading.....

He was the star of the band and was the only person capable of silencing the "Where's Slash?" screams.

You do realise, Captain Defensive, that I was joking. Bucket is my favourite member of the new band, but even his cheerleaders have to acknowledge that the guy's... well, a bit weird. Any interviews he'd do would be interesting, but not what you'd call conventional - Kurt Loder just looks freaked out by the guy in that MTV interview.

Could someone who knows how to use audio editing programs chop the beginning off the 2007 Better leak and bolt it onto the new version? That audio glitch in the new one is very annoying...

If they could stop talking trash about Axl in  the press. It almost happened. The pens were ready to sign. With the Greatest Hits there was a possibility but there was too much stuff being said. But it was a close call. I would love to see that happen, as a Guns n' roses fan. I'd pay to see it.

We now have confirmation that the band has almost reunited at least once.

Now the people who have always said it could/would never happen are eating a bit of crow.

Except that elsewhere in the article, they flat-out ask Duff and he claims that they haven't had contact with Axl and that Weiland was being "paranoid". Ironic, really, since it's Weiland who went behind his bandmates' backs to reunite with his old group...

That leaves the rhythm guitarist spot. In an ideal world, it'd be Izzy, but we already know he prefers "dropping in" for guest spots to a full-on tour. Slash might simply insist that "Axl joins Velvet Revolver", and that Dave comes along, but tbh he's an out-and-out mercenary, and wouldn't hesitate to sell VR up the river. Gilby is pretty unlikely, having not had contact with either camp for a decade.

Gilby attended one of the GB shows of VR some weeks ago (I think one of the London gigs), he met and talked with the guys 22

Really? Nice. Still couldn't see him being involved in a reunion, though.

It is not a reunion if you do some form of half ass mix of uyi gnr, new gnr, vr. That would be awful.

As I've said, it is as far as the wider ticket-buying public are concerned - and they're the people whose opinions count. As long as Axl's up there with Slash, most people will consider it a GN'R reunion - in the same way that they considered the UYI-era band GN'R, even though Izzy and Steven had both been replaced. Duff's also reasonably essential (as part of that UYI-era band). As an "additional musician" on the UYI tour, Matt's ultimately disposable, but likely to come as part of a package with Slash and Duff. Adler is... unlikely, to put it mildly.

I imagine/hope that we'd get Fortus, and if there was an album to follow, Izzy would stick around as a songwriter and contribute to the album.

Yes, it'd be lovely to see the AFD-era GN'R reunite (of course, they're not the original GN'R...), but I think we have to accept that if a reunion happens, it won't be that line-up touring. If you're realistic about it, you're less likely to be disappointed.

It isn't a reunion without Izzy. End of discussion. Izzy is and has always been the go between. For fuck's sake, he went on a European tour with Axl within the last few years. He started his first bands with Axl. He went to High School with Axl. He still plays with Duff and Slash on various occasions. He showed up for the AFD 20th. He would clearly do a reunion tour if it is done properly.

Yeah, but by the same token, we had the guys on the 2006 tour saying that he enjoys that setup - dropping in occasionally, but not being obligated to make an appearance. I don't doubt that he'd tour if it was the right setup, but I couldn't imagine it being a going concern. After all, "Izzy is Izzy."

Plus I'd gnaw off my own arm to see Fortus and Slash sharing a stage. big_smile
