#191 Re: Guns N' Roses » Supporting Baz [and Axl].. who will buy Angel Down? » 926 weeks ago

i listened to those clips on amazon. i liked alot of what i heard. it's tough to get a good feel for the songs, but i have high hopes now that he will come through with a few kick ass tunes!

i will definitely be buying this album on the 20th!

I would love for there to be a reunion, and i still have hope that it will happen. VR will disband and GnR will be placed in the Hall of Fame, which hopefully will lead to at least one live performance, maybe a mini-tour, and maybe even a full blown reunion.

Axl/Slash is the greatest team in music history. they are my all-time favorite front man and guitarist. and more importantly, they bring out the best in each other.

so in my ideal world, the original band would be back together. they are not, so i will take what i can get. i will see this band live every chance i get. i am looking forward to hearing CD and the follow-ups. but it has nothing to do with the other members. if one or more of the current members was replaced (as has happended a few times before), my interest would remain the same.

since Axl was and is the primary writer of GnR's music, i have high hopes for the new music. But there is no doubt in my mind that the new music would be significantly better if slash was still playing lead.

Jameslofton - thanks for the replies.

by "money in the bank," i do not mean profits. i just mean that they are definitely going to have an inflow of cash from CD sales. how much they sell is the issue. and it's possible the industry could be bottoming out right now and sales will be significantly higher in 2-3 years. and if that is true, they certainly will be hesitant to release an album that they have invested so much money in.

also, the label may be trying to determine if the album has potential and if its worth putting alot of marketing $$ behind it. i don't believe (as many do) that it's a guarantee they will market the hell out of this. they may be thinking "let's cut our losses and hope the GnR name carries this thing."

and i see your point about the GH, but it is still the same company. and they probably would not have released GH if CD was ready to go. so if that is true, then you could assume that the label has made a chunk of its money back (and maybe even a profit??).

here's some random thoughts/questions (which is all we have anyhow):

1. i have not been following things closely for several months, but at this point, is there any chance the record label is not happy with CD and/or in the process of rejecting it?

2. if it truly is in the record label's hands, i don't think they need to be in any rush to release it. it's money in the bank, and they need to maximize the returns.

3. did the label make alot of their money back with the release of the Greatest Hits cd??

4. record sales are way down from 6-7 years ago when Interscope was invested in this project. AND the industry is going through a transformation regarding marketing and the delivery of products.

good song. i actually like everything except the chorus. for me, that's where it really sounds dated. but the whole intro is awesome. i like the changes in tempo. some good guitar riffs. and alot of the song is really heavy - definitely something i will crank in my car, but i don't think this has a chance of being a radio hit. and axl sounds absolutely phenominal.

haven't heard the other songs so i can't compare. but i'd love to hear them!
