Billy Joel has a lot of great songs. Not surprised Axl is a fan considering Joel came to prominence when all the GN'R guys were teenagers.

Here we are 47 weeks later. I was reminded of this thread when someone at MYGNR started a thread earlier today asking about the best full concerts in GN'R history. The 1988 and 1991 Philly shows are very high on the list in my opinion!

Anyway, it sure seems the 2016 Philly show turned out pretty damn successful. 49,328 tickets sold and $4.88 million of revenue. Philly still loves this band even after Axl's antics in 2002.

Axl won this war; he still owns this band and he has the A list alumni back on his own terms.
In fact, he's done such a great job it would appear that Duff and Slash are enforcing his terms on guys like Stephen.

Well done Axl!!

Of course Axl won the business side of it. That was guaranteed 20 years ago when Slash and Duff gave him control of the name. But at this point I don't think Slash and Duff care. This is just a big cash grab before they are too old to take advantage of the band's popularity.

Inside of it looks pretty nice.

Damn, I didn't realize they played Sorry. Very surprised Slash agreed to it. Axl absolutely crushed that "shut up and sing" scream.

Depends on the song. I strongly prefer Axl on Mama Kin. But I can't imagine him topping Tyler's versions of songs like Dream On or Sweet Emotion. Also can't imagine Tyler topping any of Axl's vocals with GN'R.

Also....the management seemed to imply they were given samples by a producer and believed they had been cleared by the label...so it might not be pitmans error.

Do you think it is possible that a band's manager would ever say something that was false in order to make his client look better?

Sure but if Pitman fucked it up why did Axl do nothing about it for 8 years?

At one time Axl viewed Pitman as a valuable member. There have been plenty of complaints through the years from fans who wondered what Axl saw in Pitman. Axl is a strange cat. Marches to the beat of his own drummer.

#198 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chris Pitman suing Axl Rose for unpaid 2011 wages » 458 weeks ago

Wiki said the Riad lawsuit was for $1 million, but it doesn't say whether the lawsuit has been resolved on that issue. $1 million is a hell of a lot more than Pitman is demanding, so I could easily see Axl bringing up the Riad problem in Pitman's lawsuit.

Frankly, although I never wanted pitman around,  I think Axl's in the wrong on this one.

If you're going to have people in the band as employees not partners then they have to be paid. You cant take the profits for yourself in the good times and then say "we're all in this together" and expect freework in the hardtimes.

It doesn't matter if it's a job we don't want him to do or if he's a dick, he did the time, he gets his money.

As for there being a nicer way to claim it than a lawsuit, everyone knows you piss off the wrong people in GNR and you get a wall of silence. I'm guessing this was the best way to have your phonecall actually returned.

MSL forum brought up a good point though. Pitman was the person who stole copyrighted work for Riad and GNR/Axl ended up in a lawsuit as a result. Pitman was never sued for that but now that he is suing Axl, it wouldn't surprise me if Axl brings up this issue in court.

The split should have been

Axl 30%
Slash 30%
Duff 15%
Izzy 15%
Adler 10%

But Adler and Izzy would need to be on stage a good bit of time to earn that.

Axl cant sing and Slash doesn't sound like the records but they get a bigger cut playing Izzy written songs?

Wheres Trump, your fired...

Yeah, Izzy wrote all the songs by himself. BULLSHIT. He was an important songwriting contributor, but so were the others. And if you want to know why they just racked up over $140 million in tour revenue over a very short period of time, it's because the general audience wanted to see Axl and Slash together again. The proof is in the pudding and Axl/Slash do deserve more money than the others based on actual butts in the seats to see the two of them.

FWIW Smoking Guns, MSL posted yesterday on his forum that Slash is getting more than Duff. So maybe it's not 25% for each of those guys.
