Well here we are again folks, Christmas is coming up, New Years will be right around the corner and still no CD.   With that said, I don't feel the anger on the boards as much as I did last year.

IMO with Axl being on Angel Down, especially being released now, has tamed the inner jaded fan in some of us for a bit, at least for me.   Given that this is Baz's album it has giving us Axl on official recordings, the boards have been active with news surrounding that and it does keep Axl in the media at a constant right now.    GNR seems to be the buzz again, beit old GNR because of the recent specials that have aired but none the less we are seeing Axl, we aren't hearing from him but we are seeing him so that's always a plus.

What are thoughts on the vibe of the GNR world this time of year as opposed to last year at this time.

I wish that I could say I feel this way.

Axl being on Baz's album did absolutely nothing for me. Also, I haven't noticed Axl being "a constant in the media" at all, unless it's been jokes about him. The only buzz that I have seen this year has been caused by rumors of a potential reunion and the 20th anniversary of AFD. The Biography documentary basically covered the legacy of the real band. It had nothing to do with this act that Axl has been taking on the road for the past 6-7 years.

I'm really hoping that 2008 will be the year of reconciliation between Axl and Slash. Imagine the buzz that would cause.  9

I guess there is still work to be done but that stuff can be done quickly, at the least the recording done...we hope hmm

'In regard to a release date for the album itself, certain minor - and I do mean minor -- additions, as well as contract negotiations, need to be completed. Barring any unforeseen complications, these things have now been adequately scheduled.'

(Axl Rose, 2006)

But as always, Axl does his double talkin' jive: My favourite parts regarding the - absolutely misleading - 'tentative release date':

'We do hope you can hold on just a bit longer, and if not, please take a break and we'll be more than glad -- if you so choose -- to see you again later.'

They were talking bout a release date in less than 3 weeks! Why would anyone take a break for such a short time? It's clear that Axl knew that they had no chance to meet that date. I bet he knew that finishing the album would take more and he was looking forward a long mixing process as well. And he had to know about the contract negotiation problems... so I don't get why he lied to his fans hmm

Technically he didn't lie because he never committed himself with that letter.  Tentative, is tentative not set in stone and that was his out.

Was it a lie when he said it was "definitely coming out in 2006" ?

Was it a lie when he said that he would keep the fans updated should he miss the March 6 tentative release date ?

I wish Baz would just shut the fuck up with his school girl crush on Axl, already. You'd think Baz's embarassing album sales would tell him that the majority of the world isn't interested in anything that comes out of his mouth.

Unfortunately, I don't see the wait ending at 14 years.

#14 Re: Guns N' Roses » Angel Down Selling Out » 917 weeks ago

The only reason this album is selling out in a few stores is because most stores are only receiving a few copies.

It's not because alot of copies are selling. Alot of stores are not receiving this album at all.

I highly doubt Axl will join Baz on a tour. Baz will be playing venues the size of sardine cans or opening for another artist.

Axl isn't small potatoes.

Completely agree.

No way in hell Axl will tour with Baz.

I'm not sure if I understand what the point of this thread is supposed to be ??

Is it that Axl should see that it's ok to talk about Chinese D because Baz is, and he's not getting a negative reaction because of it ?

I've been listening to the streaming version of the album for the last 3 or 4 days almost non-stop while i work.   i think its a great rock album.   Album of the year?  Thats a toss up between this and the Smashing Pumpkins album.   No, its not the album of the century like that article stated, but its got some good rock and some of it is not to different than classic AFD GnR.

Holy shit !

I almost half way agree with you.

I would probably consider Smashing Pumpkins album as possibly album of the year too.  My other would probably be VR's.

Ok but to criticize it for sounding 80s/90s when you like other stuff that people are making that sounds like its from that same era is a bit hypocritical.   to not like the songs because you think they suck are one thing.

I never said I didn't like the album because it sounds like it's from the 80's/90's. I just said that it does sound that way. I do think Baz's new music sucks, period.  Regardless of the era that it sounds like. I'm not hiding that I think that. By saying it sounds 80's/90's, I'm just suggesting that it's nothing fresh nor relevant in the year 2007. With or without Axl, this album will not sell very well.

no i'm just saying its kinda weird you are criticiziing something for sounding to 80s/90s, but you thought that one song by Steven (which was apparently so forgetable i can't find it ANYWHERE) was "mind-blowing".

but you are right, i dont want to talk about ex-members.. i just find it odd that you find songs that sound like bad LA Guns or Ratt songs mindblowing but when its Baz's stuff its dated and a let down.    Baz himself would probably admit his style is late 80s/early 90s.  And i thought that was kinda your thing?

Maybe "mind blowing" wasn't the right word. That was kind of sarcasm on my part, but I'll give you that, I did say it. I don't think Adler's songs are bad though. Yes, they're kind of 80's/90's sounding. I never said that I only like that type of music. I like most of new Guns N Roses new tunes. I like Stinson's solo album. I just honestly don't think Baz's new music (what I've heard) is very good whatsoever. I was a big Skid Row fan, but their music and lyrics were both good. I don't think Baz is a good songwriter nor do I think he produces a good melody on his own. And on a personal level, the guy acts like an ass. Axl being on the album doesn't change my opinion either. Hey, you think VR suck ... I guess we're all different.

this is the same guy who was blowing his load when Steven Adler put up that stupid song on his myspace a while back... and that was even worse than any of these songs.

I blew my load ??  roll

I disagree. Based on what we've heard so far, I think 'Let Down' would have been a more appropriate title for Baz's new album.

You seem to always get pissed when people bring up the ex-members in this section, but you sure seem to like talking about Adler alot. 22
